Northern Arctic Lands

Often referred to as Nunavut. Home to the spirit warrior tribes, average humans often confuse them with the Inuits. Inuits are the only humans aware of the spirit warriors.

Cold climate most of the year, brutal winters and thaws briefly in the summer. Northern lights are a spectacular sight up in the northern lands.

Maiara arrived with a gust with Haikimaru in the summer hunting lands. "Oops" She said simply; having imagined this area rather than the main camp because of her excitement at the thought of going on the hunt. Perhaps it was better they ended up here; as the camp often moved to favor the environment and game. Tilting her head up slightly to catch the wind and the scents it brought with it, she could catch a few whiffs of her people. Luckily for them, it was the middle of summer and there was little risk of having to worry of the cold. But still, there was a n** in the air typical of the northern lands. "Come on!" Maiara said excitedly as she tugged at his hand, eager to run through her wild homeland once again.

Haikimaru adjusted her pack. He wasn't used to traveling by teleporting. It normally was by plane to get to places or sometimes a boat. Haiki took the teleporter and put it back in his bag. He then grabbed onto his girlfriends hand and held it so that she could drag him around. He was in an unfamiliar place in this world and he needed his guide.

"You like it? Clean smell here." She said to her purple haired companion with a smile as she ran quickly over the rocks and through the hedges as she had done her whole life, but she had no doubt Haikimaru could keep up. They were getting closer, and she wouldn't be surprised if she spotted a bear or wolf here or there.

Perhaps she thought too soon; as she halted quickly mid-step, hoping Haikimaru wouldn't crash into her. That smell... She opened her mouth slightly to get more of the scent into her nose. It could be none other than her childhood friend, Anernerk. "Wait here. I come back soon." She told him before running off to the large, brown, intimidating bear, jumping onto its back while it let out a large roar.

"It's me! Maiara!" She said, leaning towards its ear. And soon enough, the large bear shifted back to a beautiful tall woman who proceeded to give Maiara a hug. "What are you doing here? You should be at that school of yours? The chief will want a good explanation." Maiara just smiled at her old friend before running back to Haikimaru, taking his hand. "Come meet Anernerk. She beautiful, like her name."

Haikimaru traveled along side his girlfriend. He didn't even break a sweat keeping up with Maiara. He could smell may things. His noise was stronger as he was a true fox. He stopped when she did and staying to one side avoid anyone crashing to the next. Once she asked him to hold still he did. Haiki nearly drew his sword at the bear in surprise. If it hadn't been for his girlfriend hugging the creature he would have attacked. The man cooled his nerves and returned it to it sheath. "Watashi wa Maiara ga hooshii desu." He mumbled coming closer as the bear became a woman. He wrapped his arm around Maiara's waist.

Maiara looked up at Haikimaru quizzically, hearing her name among the strange words he spoke. It seemed she might have to try to learn another language to understand him. Giving up on trying to decipher what he said she looked back to Anernerk with a smile. "This is Haikimaru. Look at his hair, have you ever seen such a sight?" She said, bragging a bit about her purple-fox man.

"Why no I haven't. I've never seen such a hue. He reeks of fox. Tell him I say well met." She said kindly as Anernerk watched the man, analyzing him carefully. Her own unnatural height from the bear in her matched his and could look him easily in the eye; it was easy for her to tell this was Maiara's mate. "Chimo." She said, giving the old inuit greeting.

Maiara looked back to Haikimaru, "This Anernerk, she greet you." She looked back to Anernerk. "Anernerk, Haikimaru." She told her friend, putting her hood back on as she felt a cool breeze. She rested her hands on Haikimaru's arm, "We will go to village now. They will stare. You mind?" The spirit warrior asked him, worried for his discomfort at the attention of the whole village.

Haikimaru bowed in respect to Maiara's friend. He had his honor that to keep up. "It is my honor." He said using English. He then grabbed his girlfriends hand and held onto it. "I am ready to go." He answered. He was sure some people in Japan would turn and stare at her because they had never seen a person like her before.

Maiara smiled and bid farewell to Anernerk; she would see her later at dinner. For now she had to maintain her duty as guard as Anernerk shifted back to the great brown bear, walking off to patrol the grounds some more. "Okay." She said to Haikimaru; it felt odd to switch back to English. She felt so clumsy speaking it compared to the ease she had with her native language. In that respect, she admired Haikimaur's skill with both English and his other language, Japanese.

Holding his hand firmly, she continued on at their former pace, figuring the village shouldn't be more than one kilometer from where Anernerk stood guard. Surprisingly enough, the two of them didn't see any other guards until they approached the group of tents made from animal skins. She could see the small children running around, enjoying the warmer weather. Home. Was all she could think with a peaceful smile on her face before adressing the guards. She nodded to both, knowing they would be confused at her companion, but they understood she would go directly to the chief. "Chief know some English." She told Haikimaru as some of the children halted once they noticed the newcomer. Their eyes were fixated on the strange man; all their chatter had ceased as they walked to the chief's tent. "Chief is my father, but I not address him as father. He not address me as daughter. To chief, everybody is his children." She told him, trying to explain she didn't receive any special treatment from him.

Maiara entered the tent, holding the flap for Haikimaru. Even in the middle of summer, the chief was dressed in all his clothing. His face showed no shock even as he saw the strange purple-haired man and his daughter back from school. Maiara sat down immediately, beckoning Haikimaru to do the same by pulling his hand. I come for a visit. I miss home much, great chief. This here-" She motioned to her companion "Is Haikimaru. He is no threat, and I ask that you allow him to stay, as one of us, for as long as I remain here. He may stand out, but I assure you he can pull his own weight." The spirit warrior asked him calmly, watching him with her eyes. It was difficult to read either of them, as they betrayed little emotion; it was easy to tell they were related.

The chief walked slowly to the man, peering down at him before standing up straight once again. "You speak English?" He said to him, his arms crossed. It was hard to say whether or not he was going to approve of this man to stay in their village, as if he was one of them. He didn't quite trust him, although he took his daughter's judgement in consideration. She was still young though, and he knew it was easy to deceive young folk.

Haikimaru listen to everything that Maiara said. Following her instructions as they walked into the tent. He wasn't prepared to dragged down to the floor. It wasn't that they never did it Japan. He was just shocked. The man knew that bowing at the knees was more formal and he would do so. The purple haired man pointed his hands in wards and with a straight back and a bottom on his feet he was able to bow to the other foxes father.
"I am Haikimaru Taninaka of Japan. It is a great honor to meet you sir." He said before pulling his body up a little. He fully sat on his legs and hunched his back. His hands were now out his knees and pointed just so it looked formal without looking like a girl. "I speak enough English to get by in daily life." He added. His tone was reverent and if there was such thing as formal English then he would have spoken it.

"Japan? Never heard of this land." The chief mumbled, still staring at the boy, a bit curious of his odd posture. "There no honor. I must know everyone in village." Turning around, he paced a bit, obviously thinking. Halting once more to face this Haikimaru, he looked down, his beak-like nose coming close to the boy's face. "Why you come? You able carry burden of everyday tasks? You give good answer, you stay."

It was easy to think that his man felt large and in charge with the people around here. Haikimaru however wasn't scared, but he had to respect his girlfriends wishes, and answered the man in a cool and calm voice. "I can hunt if you need me to, I can defend the village if you need me to, I can teach if you need me to, and I can make weapons if you need me to." The kitsune gave four good reasons why he could be helpful to the people. He couldn't do things like sewing or building.

"Hmm." The man said, standing back up straight. Smoothing out his furs, he thought for a moment. They didn't need any more guards, they didn't need weapons, and an extra hunter wasn't necessary. What he was interested in was this 'teaching' he offered. "What you teach?" He asked, watching him once again. He would make him hunt as well, but he was interested in having his people learn more of what was outside their isolated lands. This would be part of Maiara's duties once she graduated from this school of hers.

Haikimaru had taught a little while he was in Japan. Though the fact that the chief landed on teaching suggested something to the fox. He knew he had to say what he could do next in the right way. "I can teach new styles of fighting or maybe Japanese or English words." He answered. He wasn't talented in much more than fighting. But this group seem to be a warrior race and who wouldn't want to learn new ways of fighting.

The chief rubbed his chin thoughtfully before finally smiling. "Well if you teach, you stay." He nodded his head slightly to Maiara and then to Haikimaru. "I welcome you to tribe." He said formally before continuing, "I invite you to join great hunt tomorrow, if you wish." Looking at the young man; he was able to deduce that he was strong, even if he did look well groomed. Hopefully he would be a good match for Maiara; she couldn't seem to settle for one of their own. He sighed; her eagerness and curiosity would bite her in a** one day. "I must go. Maiara, the Angakkuq look for you." Turning to glance again at purple haired man, "Well met." He said, closing the discussion. He would have to tell the bears to keep an eye on him.

((Sorry for the wait. Hope you're feeling better too.))

Haikimaru watched the man. He seemed to approve of the young fox being there. The fox bowed again and thanked the chief for letting him stay in the tribe for a while. Haiki's movement as he got up was fluid. He didn't full erect his body all at once. He started by pulling his body closer then getting on one knee before pulling himself up. He then walled a foot or so to Maiara and offered his hand to help her up.
