What is your favourite must-see anime/manga?

Well we´d like to know (and I think so would everyone else)! Write the series that you think anyone who´s into anime NEEDS TO SEE! There are plenty of people out there who are starting to watch anime, but dont know which to watch! So, it is our solem duty as anime fans to share the cartoon love with everyone! Give us the name, number of episodes, maybe write a short review of what its about if you want ( NO SPOILERS PLZ ), and what you thought of it! Just remember, at least in this forum, every comment ought to be worth a read considering the subject, so don´t hesitate! And feel free to comment and recommend more than one anime, the more the merrier!
By the way, It´s ok to mention ecchi or hentai series, but just say so first!

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. The original anime (Fullmetal Alchemist) had absolutely nothing to do with the storyline of the manga, so please support the actual awesome storyline. ninja

I second FMAB. But you have to watch My Bride is a Mermaid, it's got to be the funniest thing I've ever seen. It's about a boy who saved by a mermaid, only to find out that if a human sees a mermaid one of them has to be executed. However, there is one loophole. If the two marry, then they become family and both can live. Disaster and hilarity ensue, followed by a cast of zany characters like no other.

I was a skeptic when I first watched it, but ended up watching it twice. Worth a watch!

I recommend SKET DANCE and GINTAMA. If you're having a bad day and need something to cheer you up, definitely check these out. xD Both of these shows are comedy and they're seriously funny! So if you like shows that make you laugh then watch the anime and/or read the manga.

I also recommend Ao no Exorcist. It's pretty new in the anime business (Sket Dance has come out in the anime recently too), but I read the manga and so far I really like it.

rofl

EDIT: Oh.... so far there is only a couple of episodes for Sket Dance and Ao no Exorcist (since they're new) but the manga is pretty long and still ongoing. For Gintama there is 213 and I think it's completed. ^^ I'm not sure if the manga is ongoing or not, I'm still trying to catch up.

EDIT #2: (I really should read everything in the first post before typing. lol)

Okay short summaries:

Sket Dance: Sket Dan is a club that is devoted to helping the student body in campus life. The story centers around Yusuke ("Bossun"), Himeko, and Usui ("Switch"), the only club members of Sket Dance who take on random requests from students.
Hilarious traits from each of these characters:
Bossun (leader) has an erratic personality and can easily get depressed when he's left out. He also has a genius mind, which when wearing his goggles he can 'connect' and be able to solve puzzles or difficult situations. He's also a talented artist.
Himeko (brauns) has a shady past as a delinquent. She's strong, loud, but also pretty with an Osaka dialect. She is the tsundere of the show and her favorite candy is the bizarre Pelican lollipops. She carries around a hockey stick as her weapon.... lol
Switch (brains) is the guy that knows everything. He doesn't talk... at all, instead he uses his computer and type out what he says and his voice synthesizer talks for him. He has information (birthday, age, horoscope, secrets) of almost everyone in the school and he's a huge Otaku. Fun Fact: His Seiyuu also voice acts for Gin-chan in Gintama. ^^

Gintama: This takes place in the 17th century when in the Edo period aliens ("Amanto") invaded Earth and began living together with the humans. However they have banned Samurai and Edo became the terminal between space and Earth. Do not be fooled... this show is mostly a parody. lol And they change story lines every episode and have short sagas. Gin, the main character, runs a freelancing business called the Yorozuya (Odd jobs). It's self explanatory (and similar to Sket Dance). But hey, the fight scenes are SO KEWL! >W<
Characters:
Gintoki: A samurai living in an era where samurai are no longer needed, he has a sweet tooth, a perm and he's extremely lazy. WHY THE HELL IS HE THE PROTAGONIST?
Shinpachi: The tsundere or straight man with glasses. He is VERY plain and only 16 years old....that's his only purpose in the show (or everyone jokingly claims) lol He wants to revive his father's samurai dojo with his sister, Tae. He is sort of Gin's apprentice.
Kagura: An amanto from the Yato clan. She has superhuman strength and carries around an umbrella since her kind is weak to the sun. She's 14 years old and has a huge appetite. She also wears this china girl outfit and has two bun on her head.... like she's from China... but she's not.
They also have a big dog. O_o ....

Ao no Exorcist
: In my opinion, the manga is drawn SO WELL! And the whole story idea is amazing. = w =

"This world consists of two dimensions joined as one, like a mirror. The first is the world in which the humans live, Assiah. The other is the world of demons, Gehenna. Ordinarily, travel between the two, and indeed any kind of contact between the two, is impossible. However the demons can pass over into this world by possessing anything that exist within it. Satan the god of demons, but there's one thing that he doesn't have, and that's a substance in the human world that is powerful enough to contain him!! For that purpose he created Rin, his son from a human woman, but will his son agree to his plans? Or will he become something else...? An exorcist?"

I was too lazy to make my own summary so I copied and pasted. ^^

So far, my two favorite animes are FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Gurren Lagann.
FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood is about 70 episodes long, and balances them just right. The story is about two young alchemists who embark on a jouney to get back their old body parts after trying to bring back their mother from the dead. But along the way, they discover an even greater purpose in their journey. hilarity, drama, action, and awesomeness ensue. I found this series to be much better than the original, but i still recommend watching th e first one first. I give this series a 10/10
Gurren Lagann is about 30-40 episodes long. The story is about a boy named Simon and his blood brother Kamina who have lived in an underground village all of their lives. When Simon discovers a small mecha named Lagann, and another giant mecha falls in from the surface and starts to attack the village, Simon and Kamina fight back, adn in te midst of the battle, they reach the surface, and thus, the dventure to discover their true destiny begins. Also in the battle they meet a talented marks..woman(?) named Yoko (HAWT) who later accompanies them. There is a ton of humor, and awesome battles (and yoko will keep u watching ;D) and the story stays interesting. However, around halfway through the series, (since it went through a change of studios) it starts to take a more serious tone, but still keeps u hooked. I really enjoyed this anime and give it a 9.2/10
