Personally, I've been thinking that a steampunk type game would be pretty interesting. The problem is, most of the people I've talked to about either have too many games going on or can't think of a storyline (my situation). So, I've thought of a new way to do it. The interested people come together and collaborate on designing the world and creating characters. GM duties will basically be traded among the players periodically, basically as an idea for a questline comes to mind, the person takes over as GM when the previous GM is ready to pass the torch. Basically, it would be a collaborative effort in where anyone who wants it can play the GM at times. The storyline would probably end up developing as the characters go, rather then be predeterimined at the start of creation. I've talked to KOAC and Glitch about it, who both seemed interested, but I'd like to know what the rest of you think.

Cool, that means from what I've gathered, we'd have 5 ppl then, with Glitch, KOAC and Silver also interested. Seems to be a good size for this. We'll have to decide a time (or just use this thread) to discuss how we want to make our game world.

I say we can just discuss it on this thread. I haven't really had any ideas for it yet though, but that's because I really haven't put much time aside to think about it.

I agree with KOAC for the same reason. But yeah, I would really like to see this game come into existence.

Cool. Well, guess we should probably start at the setting. Usually steampunk is set during the Victorian Era or the Industrial Revolution, but this isn't nessisarily hard set. I'm thinking in term of technology, the tech should probably be even more sophisticated them mordern tech in some aspects, like have giant airships capable of being small cities and the like. Any thoughts?

Yes, I think having extremely sophisticated technology is a good idea.

Yeah that sounds pretty cool. We can also make the tech as we go along and call bullshit if it gets too out of hand?

Sounds good, I'll start drawing up some sort of starting quest so to speak. Also, we need to think of a history for the game, I'm thinking about using an alternate reality. As in everything is the same as our world, save for an event happened that would cause the tech to have changed.

Electricity was invented farther down the road and we werent able to have it as optimized as we do so steam remained the primary source of power but electricity is still used for switches and lights and things like that?

Well, perhaps we should determine the location? I believe most steampunk stories take place in Victorian England. Do we want to follow this pattern?
PostPosted: Mon Jul 25, 2011 9:20 am

I'd be down with that... actually, if we've got massive airships and such in the setting, we could end up traveling the world! But, England sounds like a good place to start.

I see no problem with airships. In fact, that'd be really cool!
