Lin Shui walks into the room, looking around at the tables to check the linens and such before the day begins. After she inspects everything she walks over to you and the other applicants and begins speaking. "Everyday many Long come to the Jade Lotus to eat. They expect timely, accurate service and, of course, a smile and good attitude. It is the job of the Host/Hostess to quickly get the patron to a table and begin their service. I am not a harsh taskmistress but I do expect people to be prompt, efficient and polite to EVERYONE." At this point she looks directly into your eyes, as though daring you to challenge this fact, and then looks to the eyes of each applicant the same way. "I do not require that you like your customer but I do require that you are polite beyond reproach at all times."
Moving from table to table, as though still checking what she has already looked at she says, "This test is to see how many tables you can serve each day not only quickly but accurately. I expect much of you and am certain that you will not let me down. So long as you all do your best that is all I will ask." With that she gives all the applicants a warm smile and turns to finish preparing for the day.
Each day, your character will have five tables that need to be served. You will serve each table by rolling 2 10-sided dice and adding your intelligence stat to each individual dice (not the total). The first dice in a roll represents your accuracy with the food ordered by the table. The second represents your speed at serving the table. At the end of the day, you will recieve points in three areas, based on the average of your tables. The first area will be an average of your accuracy. The second area will be an average of your speed. The final area will be an average of your accuracy combined with your speed, to present a report on where your strengths and weaknesses are.
At the end of the event, the person who has the best overall score in all three areas will will this test. However, there is a final note: For days where you only complete a few tables, this will bring down your daily average. However, for days you are unable to roll at all, you will not be penalized.
We will take note if you are unable to roll for many days of the event, though.

Day One ~
Meili recalled what had been said by Lin Shui earlier in the morning and she nodded her head with determination. As it so happened just as she did her first customers walked in. She gathered her confidence and then moved quickly to their table "Good morning, my name is Meili and I will be your hostess this morning. May I get you anything to drink while you look over the menu?" she spoke politely and made sure that the she didn't encroach on their personal space as she waited for their responses. After they ordered their drinks she nodded "I will return in just a moment." she moved back into the kitchen and gathered their drinks, placing them on a tray before heading back to their table and serving them. "Here are your drinks, have you decided what you would like to order?" She jotted down the order quickly before nodding and returning to the kitchen to place the order with the cooks. Meili returned to the table awhile later with their order and after ensuring they didn't need anything else went back to the kitchen where she pondered over whether her customers were really satisfied or not, she was not happy with how long it had taken her to bring them their order but there was nothing she could do, really, it wasn't as if she could will the food to cook faster. However, even though she knew it wasn't within her control she still felt upset that she hadn't done as well as she had hoped.

Meili's second customer arrived and she vowed she would do a better job this time. Repeating her previous actions she bustled back and forth between the table and the kitchen, this time with her new mantra I must always do my best. echoing inside her head. However this time she was even less pleased with her performance, she had been slightly quicker but she had made a few mistakes as well. Focus. she scolded herself as she waited for her next customer.

Meili was now greeted by her third set of customers for the day and she was quick to see to their needs. Must do my best. Must focus. she told herself in her head as she wrote down their order and made her way back to the kitchen. After serving her customers she watched from a distance for their reaction and frowned when she saw that she had made some mistakes again. Why can't I get it right? she thought, slowly becoming discouraged.

Her fourth set of customers arrived and Meili tried to remind herself to slow down and pay very close attention to what they were ordering. After placing their order she waited for the cook to say it was ready so she could return to her customers. Hopefully she would do better this time. This time she knew she had it wrong the moment she set the food in front of her customers and she frowned before offering to have it remade so that they would get their correct order. Maybe her handwriting just wasn't very good and the cooks were having to guess what she had written down?

As her last customer of the day seated himself Meili sighed quietly before plastering on a smile and approaching him to take his order. This time she made sure to write very clearly what it was he had ordered and even repeated it back to him to ensure it was correct, when he nodded she took the order back to the cooks and set about waiting for the food to be cooked. When she took the food to his table he seemed pleased, until he noticed the onions, Meili did her best to hide a frown as she asked if he would like her to have it remade, he refused and she returned to the kitchen with a sinking feeling in her heart. "I'll never become an apprentice at this rate." she sighed.

Meili began her second day of serving tables with a kind yet determined expression upon her face. Yesterday she hadn't done too well but today... she would do better. She approached some customers who had seated themselves just a few moments before and politely introduced herself and took their order.

With a smile Meili continued on her way through the tables of patrons and greeted a younger group of guests whose orders she took and returned to the cooks so that they would be able to start on the meals.

Moving busily throughout the restaurant Meili was quick to make her way towards a new customer, she greeted her with a warm smile and took the order quickly while double checking that it was correct before heading back to the kitchen to have the chefs cook it up.

Meili was quite pleased with her performance so far this day and it reflected in the way she attended to her customers. A happy smile was stuck on her face and she was very glad that she was getting to be a part of the tests. As she approached her next customer she couldn't stop the spring from returning to her step and she nearly skipped over to the table and back to the kitchen with the order.

Meili was now serving her last table for the day and she couldn't help but reflect on how it had been going so far, she had done very well today, or so she thought, what Lin Shui would say on the matter could be a completely different opinion but Meili wouldn't let that get her down, she would continue to try harder and prove that she was worthy of being an apprentice.
