"When working in the restaurant we come across customers who do occasionally complain about the food." Lin Shui looks at each of you as she is saying this, "In any restaurant the chefs tend to take offense quickly and easily if they are told that the dish wasn't done 'perfectly' and they can often attempt to charge out into the restaurant to 'deal' with the customer. Things are no different here at the Jade Lotus. Our job is to deal with the chefs on behalf of the customer. Explaining to them, in the best terms possible, what the complaint was while not upsetting them so much that they storm into the dining area."
To test your command of the restaurant, each day Lin Shui will present you with a complaint registered by one of the customers about the food. You must then speak with the chefs who tend to be a tempermental group with large egos. Either way, most of this test lies in your writing.
To determine how successful you are at handling the problem, roll one 10-sided dice, and compare that number to your charisma points. If the number is higher than your charisma, you have failed to contain the problem, and Lin Shui will have to step in. If the number is within 2 points under your charisma, then you have barely managed to succeed against the problem. If the number is within 4 points under your charisma, then you have succeeded well. You are no prodigy, but you have certainly handled the kitchen and inspired further confidence in you from the other chefs. And finally, if the number is 5 or more points under your charisma, you have masterfully handled the situation and inspired great confidence in you from Lin Shui.
Once you know your result of the day, you must write about how you handled it - your thoughts and feelings, the situation and its resolution or failure. This event will be judged by both shopowners.

Today's customer has complained that their food has a very oily feel. It feels almost slimy in truth. Your task, after you have calmed the customer, is to go into the back and speak with the chefs. Hopefully you will be successful in calming the chef so they do not storm out into the dining area.

Hong Lu Xing cringed as she meandered through the tables to the back kitchen where the chefs were. This was not going to go down well for her, especially since she has just started. 'Here's hoping I will survive my first day...' she mused quietly as she made her way to the back, narrowly avoiding a customer as the lady bent to pick her chopsticks from the floor. Xing Xing (as she was commonly called) blinked as she poked her head through the kitchen door, smiling quite innocently at the chefs there. The air was tense as the chefs screamed orders at each other, some waving the carving knives threateningly. The customer had quite blatantly told her off for the food being oily and that she had to get it fixed. Tail curling in an agitated fashion, Xing Xing politely explained to said customer that she will try to get one of the chefs to redo the dish and bring it out as soon as possible. So saying, she quietly took the dish and scrambled (in an orderly fashion) to the kitchen.
Which was where she was standing in now. A gray Long grunted at her direction and asked what was wrong. She smiled warily and took note of the disgruntled expression on the Long's face when she brought the dish up to him. She could tell that this chef has "woken on the wrong side of the bed" for a lack of a better phrase and was not about to go remaking dishes off the bat. Looks like she has to convince him somehow...'Oh why am I the one doing this again?' she thought.
"The customer said that it was too oily..." Xing Xing flinched when the chef roared somewhat loudly, turning to the door in hope that Lin Shui did not hear her stuffing up. (or rather the chef stuffing up, she was just taking the blame for the overly oily food) Cringing, Xing Xing gave the gray Long a wary (and fearful by the looks of things) grin and tried to calm the chef down.
"Um...Um.....it is not that your cooking is bad, it is just too oily...and-" She was cut off again by the Long slamming his paws on the counter, causing the plate of food to jump. Squeaking, she made a grab for the plate - this was not the time to get angry over a small thing. She let out a small 'yip' as the plate landed on the counter with a loud thud, the food slipping off and splatting onto the floor. 'Great, I have to clean up too?' Sighing in relief at the plate, she waited quietly as the gray Long roared and screamed his head off. However, and when Xing Xing did not reply, the Long glanced quizzically at her.
"Could you please make a new dish? I am sure it is not much trouble..." her tone of voice was so soft that the Long squinted at her, trying to understand her mutters. 'Ahhhh...I think this is the time where Lin Shui could step it....oh woe...'

Hong Lu Xing groaned. Was there anything the customer can't complain about? Then again, she had always thought that the customers were right, on most cases anyway. She made a face as the smell of teh dish wafted to her nose. 'Urgh, it does smell a little off...'
Bowing to the male Long that had complained about his food, XIng Xing made her way to the kitchen, careful to keep the dish steady as a young Long darted just in front of her. She eyed the young male with narrowed green eyes as she made her way to the kitchen. Sighing, she prepared to face the chefs with confidence she could not muster at the time. 'Where did all my courage go?' she mused.
Poking her head into the kitchen, XIng XIng took note that none of the chefs had actually noticed her. Odd, usually they would be rambling about how they cooked teh best dish in the world and and how they had won prizes- She cut that train of thought immediately, she did fall asleep once when the chef rambled about his past. Smiling, she tried to get one chef's attention, a dark green Long with white hair, but squeaked instead.
"Um...um..." she metaphorically sweatdropped as all eyes turn to her head that was still poking through the door. Nudging the door with her tail, she slid in with ease and placed the counter. Eyeing the dark green Long, Xing Xing smiled and bowed.
"The customer said the dish smells like mud..." She muttered, preparing herself to grab the plate should the Long slam his paws on the counter. She did wince when the golden eyes narrowed in anger as the chef picked the dish up and sniffed it. She watched with amusement as the chef scrunch up his nose and pass it to another chef for investigation. The expressions on their faces almost had her laughing her head off but she kept calm ahd hoped that she did not need to convince the chef to cook a new dish.
To her surprise, the dark green Long's expression turned slightly sheepish (might be just her) and grunted at her in approval. Blinking at the Long in confusion, Xing Xing cocked her head to one side and waited for a proper response. She squeaked when the Long just wandered past her to get fresh ingredients and went about preparing the dish.
"Eh...?" she muttered, still confused beyond belief. A dark brown Long patted her on the head and told her it would be fine, before she was ushered to one side to avoid being trampled on by the chefs in their hustle and bustle. Soon, the dish was set on the counter in front of her, piping hot and smelling nothing like mud. The dark green Long nodded and went about his other orders. Pursing her lips, Xing Xing smiled and grabbed the dish, backing her way out of the kitchen with ease and going to the customer that had the order.
"Here's your order, Sir. I hope this is much better." She watched silently as the male Long sniffed at his food and took a bite. A resounding "mmmm" was all the confirmation she needed she bowed with a "Enjoy your meal" before tending to other customers.

Today you served a customer a dish that had not been fully cooked, chef was in a hurry it seems, and it was a bit on the cold side though not because you were slow in delivering it to the table. Your task is to calm the customer and then speak with the chef without causing them to rampage into the dining area.

Hong Lu Xing squeaked when she heard a roar from the kitchen. Turning sheepishly towards the customer, she bowed politely and grabbed the half-cooked dish. Her usually chirpiness was replaced with a droopy tail (it was dragging against the ground and occasionally bumping into chairs and tables) and a sour look on her face. Just when things were happy yesterday, she now dread entering the kitchen to report on yet another matter.
"I will get a new dish for you as soon as I can." Smiling rather warily, Xing Xing slowly made her way to the kitchen. The chefs were in a bad mood and she knew it. The looks on their face when they entered the kitchen earlier this morning told the whole story. Gulping slightly, she took a deep breath and pushed the door slightly ajar with her tail. Peeking in, she immediately cringed when the door creaked. 'Oh dear, that is a bad sign...' she tensed when all eyes were on her, daring her to say anything. She smiled a little, hoping that will ease the pain as she entered fully, dish in paws.
"Um...the customer said the dish was half-cooked." Setting the dish on the counter, she eyed the gray male Long. Almost immediately after she set the dish on the counter, there was a roar and Xing Xing instinctively ducked her head and curled her tail towards her body as that plate was grabbed and swung past her. A crash (and splat) later, Hong Lu Xing turned to give the plate a look of sadness before peeking over the counter. The gray Long was breathing hard, having let of a little steam.
"Um...um..." The chef glared at her lightly before turning back to redo the dish. Sighing, Xing Xing went to grab a bag (and some towels) before sweeping up the mess the chef had made. Other chefs around her had shook their heads and returned to their own dishes. 'Gods, that was terrifying...' The dish was ready (and she checked to see if it was cooked, she did not desire to face the chef again) and she carried it out to the customer with a slight sway in her step. All the patrons were staring at her somewhat confusingly and after she had served the customer, Hong Lu Xing trudged back towards the back of the kitchen and slumped against the wall, eyes glowing with slight fear and tiredness. Perhaps a longer nap would suffice for tomorrow...

Today the customer complained, rather loudly, that the food was overcooked. Upon looking at it there doesn't look to be any burning or anything but you still must apease the customer and keep the chef from making a scene.

Puffing her cheeks out, Hong Lu Xing was tempted to prove to the customer that nothing is wrong with the food. But, the customer is always right and she begrudgingly grabbed the dish and headed for the kitchen. 'I think I might have just jinxed myself here...Oh well...' she mused tiredly. She did not want to face the chefs again, they all are beginning to scare her with their pointed looks 'of death', Xing Xing added in her head. tapping the door with her tail, she poked her head through the door and eyed the chefs. It looks like a new set of chefs, interesting. Hopefully, they are more tolerable than the other chefs. Frowning, Hong Lu Xing slowly entered the kitchen fully and blinked when all eyes were trained on her. Again.
Smiling sweetly (and warily, one can never trust the words of chefs especially when they have a meat cleaver in hand, or paw in this case), Xing Xing set the dish on the counter closest to her and looked up at the chefs. She realised that the place has been rearranged. She was thoroughly confused by the configuration but she let that train of though die. She did not desire to wonder about why the ladles were hanging from the range hood and why were there knives sticking upright (pointy end upwards) against the wall instead of in the drawers where they should be. Nevertheless, it did cross her mind that there were also frying pans almost directly above her head. Bringing herself back to reality, she had seven pairs of eyes still on her.
"The customer said that the food was overcooked..." She watched as the neutral expressions on all the chefs face turned sour and without a sound (you could almost hear a pin drop), all the chefs turned their backs to her and continued cooking. Her jaw wanted to drop to the ground and never close. That was not the reaction she was looking for. That...That... What? Aren't chefs supposed to help her with her predicament. Well, the customer had a problem and she had to fix this...But they can't just ignore her like that! That is unfair! What did she do (beside that problem) to deserve this treatment!
"Um...Excuse me?...Anyone?" This time she did gape like a fish for a few moments. None of the chefs had even turn around to explain to her what was happening. Sighing, Hong Lu Xing slowly backed her way out of the kitchen, leaving the dish there in favour of finding Lin Shui. She needed help!

Day 5: Today a customer has complained that there is a bug in there food. Upon inspection of the food you do not find anything, however being a good host/hostess you take the complaint to the chef and ask for another plate. Hopefully you do this without causing the chef to fly into an outrage and stalk out into the dining area.

Day 6:Today your customer has complained that the food you brought them is not what they ordered. The restaurant isn't overly busy so you didn't pick up someone else's order. After you calm the customer, go talk with the chef to see where what they ordered is.
