I have read part of the Lord of the Rings series, The Hobbit, and Rangers Apprentice. I'm looking for a new series to read, any suggestions?

I'd definitely suggest George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, beginning with A Game of Thrones. It's currently my favorite fantasy series. The fantasy elements start out pretty subtle, but grow as the series continues. The characters and the politics are wonderfully crafted. Even the characters that I hate are the kind I love to hate. It recently got turned into a show on HBO which is also pretty good.

It probably goes without saying, but the Harry Potter series is pretty good. Artemis Fowl series is interesting, I enjoy the new look at mythological creatures. Discworld from Terry Pratchett and The Dark Tower series from Steven King are good so far, I just started reading both. Also I would say that Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea may be good. I have not had a chance to read it yet, but I loved her scifi novel "The Left Hand of Darkness".

I simply adore Naomi Novik's Temeraire Series, the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathon Stroud, The Eon series by Alison Goodman, Dragonspell by Donita K. Paul, and I, oh this is one of my favorite fantasy series that I have read in a while, the Shapeshifters Series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. I may suggest more later, I have read so many that it is hard to remember any single one. Oh! and Garth Nix's Sabriel is also a fantastic read.

If you enjoy animals then i would recommend the Redwall series. There are so many books (almost 20 i think) and they do not have to be read in order. There is a lot of fighting, it is based in the Medieval Times, and there is some romance in a couple books.
I also recommend the Maximum Ride series. That one is about 6 children/teens that have avian DNA in them, which makes them have wings. I think there are currently 6 in the series and the 7th should be coming out next year. This one is based in Modern time.
Another one i recently finished was the book Everlost. It is not a series but is still a great book. It's about two teens who die in a car crash and don't "get where they're going", so they get trapped in a world called Everlost. Everlost is full of lost souls.
Hope this helped!

Yeah, a game of thrones is a good series you should check out, although you should know that it can be quite graphic. I'd suggest the series which has Name of the wind and the Wise mans fear as well. I thought the two gentleman bastards books currently out were good as well. Also, although some people don't seem to like it, I think the inheritance series is a good fantasy series too.

They are good books, but the writing style seems very detached from the character imo which put me off a bit, but you probably should check it out.

I shall second Game of Thrones. It's definitely worth it. Also, since I want to add something, I think you should read some of Guy Gavriel Kay's novel, such as Tigana. It's historical fantasy with just a touch of magic, and complex dynamics among the characters. You might also like Cry of the Icemark, by Stuart Hill. Arguably, it might not be Lord of the Rings level, but it's a fun read none the less. Of course, if you want to laugh, Terry Pratchett is always a good choice.

I recently heard about a group of series under the title of "Forgotten Realms", who also incorporate their stories into "Forgotten Realms" Dungeons and Dragons expansions and campaigns. Has anyone heard of these series and are they good?

I am not yet done.>>>>>>>>>>Seconding the awesome Malazan Book of the Fallen series. It's rather heavy, though, and may require rereads. But it's a fascinating world with a fascinating magic system and crazy-awesome plots.
Also, Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series. <<<<<<<<<< WITNESS.
