Welcome to the Test of Apprenticeship. This twice-yearly event is what separates the many from the few destined to be true masters in their chosen field. Only the best are chosen here, though many will try all over our territory. During this test, we at the Jade Lotus encourage all applicants to keep a journal of their experiences with the Test, so that they may grow in their field, and better examine all that happens throughout the tests to come. Accept the book that I have given to you, and use it wisely, for those who search within themselves as well as challenge themselves will find great luck and prosperity in their future.
Here is your event journal. Although you are not required to use it to pass the various tests, those who do write in it will find benefits they do not expect. But only someone who writes in it every day will find the true prize at the end.
You may post an entry each day, or you may simply reserve posts for all 14 of the days of the event. What matters to us is that at the end of the event, on the last day, those who are truly after the prize have posted journal entries about each day of the event. It doesn't matter if all posts were written on one day, or on every day, so long as they are written. A full 14-day account of journal entries will count as an in-depth RP for the purposes of Yao Long status.

Date: 17th of Yao Ying.
"Today was my first day undergoing tests to hopefully become the apprentice to Lin Shui. After completing her various acts of strength, agility, intel, wisdom and charisma I find myself oddly motivated like I never thought possible. Each test was quite a feat in their own rights. I can't yet say I enjoyed nor disliked any of the tests, but I do feel the strain of today's activities.
I worked nine hours today. My body feels the pain of it all. My punishment for never doing much strenuous work in my life time. Perhaps this will change it all.
I was much more effective at waiting on tables, than cleaning them. This is where I pride myself greatly for my intelligence. Remembering orders was quite simple and I'm fairly certain I delivered the meals in a timely manner. There may have been one table who I could have been faster to wait upon, but C'est La Vie.
My accuracy and speed at cleaning tables needs more work however. There were only three tables I could say I did an acceptable job on. This is an area I will need some work in. Strength and Agility seem to be my weaknesses.
And as for guessing which dishes from the menu should go on special.... I'm unsure of this test, but it is quite challenging to the wit. I'm not sure how my guessing methods will play out in the long run, but I suppose time will tell. At least today I managed to get the correct answer with only four guesses. I wonder if going with my stomach was a bright idea.
As for dealing with the chefs in the kitchen..... I'm sure I will have nightmares about his fiery red eyes burning deep into the pit of my soul. I tried to remain as calm and polite as possible, but his rage only fed my temper. If it wasn't for Lin stepping in, I'm afraid something terrible might have happened in that kitchen today.
I can only wait to see what tomorrow brings.

"Second day of undergoing tests. I am still unsure of weather I enjoy or despise these tests so, but they could be much worse.
Another nine hour day. I'm still sore from yesterday, but all the work today really felt quite nice. I suppose it was all the stretching of my sore muscles. I dread to think how sore I will be tomorrow. Or perhaps, I wont be sore at all?
Again, I was better at serving tables then cleaning them. In fact, I improved on my service and dropped on my cleaning. Perhaps today was just an off day for me in that area. Never the less, I'm determined to improve in both areas by the end of all this, if not tomorrow.
Today's guessing of the special dish was almost a failure as compared to yesterday. Where it took me four guesses last night, today it took me seven. I'm a bit disappointed with myself in that, but then, I'm guessing without any clues or hints. That provides a very difficult challenge, but I shall not let it get me down. I will defeat the guessing game.
However, what surprised me the most today was my effectiveness in the kitchen. I may have irritated the chef, but he was quite pleasant..... apart from muttering curses under his breath. But at least we managed to find the source of the customer's complaint. It seems someone int he kitchen wanted to play a little prank and swapped some of the spices out with dirt. Petty, but I'm sure it wont happen again.
Two days down, several more to go.

"Day Three. Progress made and gained.
Yet again another nine hour day. Perhaps I've found my niche? I'm getting more and more used to this work out. I've planned my days activities accordingly to ensure proper amount of work time as well as a few breaks to replenish myself.
I truly despise the guessing game now. Today I used all my guesses and never got the right answer. If they are throwing hints my way, I'm blind to them. Perhaps I need to pay more attention. Either way, I know this test frustrates me to no end. I wish they could change it somehow.
As for waiting tables, that is still my favorite of the tests. I enjoy doing so. More so then cleaning them. I know I've probably stated that somewhere along the lines, but I'm stating it again. Waiting is much better than cleaning. Perhaps its because I'm already beginning to wear down from taking orders when its time to clean the tables?
Dealing with a chef today however, didn't go so well. I was only just able to fix the problem, but nearly took several pans to the head in the process. Someone really needs to get those cooks into an anger management class. I may just suggest it to Lin in fact..... No one wants to deal with an angry cook.
Three days completed. No sight of the end yet."

"Day Four. I'm starting to work more hours without even realizing it. The mental aspect of it all feels good, but still the physical side of it has me quite tired after a long day.
At least the kitchen en-devours went well today. But this time, it was more the customer I was afraid of than the chef today. Obviously they had been dreaming about burnt food, but never the less I brought them a new dish.
As per usual, waiting tables went well, cleaning however, not so much. I improved my speed but accuracy fell. I'm starting to fear I might never master cleaning tables.
At least It only took six guesses for me to get the dish of the day today. However, I've really come to despise that test. I know I've said it before, but I can't help saying it again and again. Like truly, with every fiber of my being. But I will continue to do my best and give it my all each time. Perhaps determination will reward me someday."
