"Every day, food gets left behind, and things go to waste. However, one of the ways we have of ensuring too much is not wasted is to select items for special that should be sold soon. The food has not gone bad, but may in the next couple of days if we don't get someone to buy it, and since we don't want to risk that, we price it for special." Fei's eyes are steady as he gestures to the menu printed in wood on the wall of the dining room.
"To be able to know, simply from memory, which item should be posted as the day's special is a skill that most exceptional chefs will never master, and so this test is particularly difficult. But I am confident that some of you may stand out in this field. Each day, you will tell me what item you think should be the special. I will make a note of just how long it takes you to be correct."
For this test, you must refer to the menu posted on the front page of our shop thread. Each day, you will make a guess as to which dish should go on special for that day. You may make as many guesses as you have Intelligence points, but the point value for each guess goes up as you are forced to make more. See the list below to check how valuable your guess will be each day. In this event, the person with the lowest points will win the test. However, each person in this test will have a different special dish for the day, so referring to other people's test threads will be useless for you.

4 guesses - 4 points
5 guesses - 5 points
6 guesses - 6 points
7 guesses - 7 points
8 guesses - 8 points
9 guesses - 9 points
10 guesses - 10 points
no right guess - 15 points

Day One ~
Xingyun frowned thoughtfully as he eyed the stock in the cooler. He could see there were many new boxes of ingredients as the shipment had come in today. However, he was interested in what had already been made and was sitting in a section of the cooler all on it's own, away from the raw ingredients. Counting quickly in his mind and then thinking about what would be more likely to go bad first he made his selection for the daily special and looked askance at Fei Yi wondering if he had been correct.

Rian-chan Day One ~
Xingyun frowned thoughtfully as he eyed the stock in the cooler. He could see there were many new boxes of ingredients as the shipment had come in today. However, he was interested in what had already been made and was sitting in a section of the cooler all on it's own, away from the raw ingredients. Counting quickly in his mind and then thinking about what would be more likely to go bad first he made his selection for the daily special and looked askance at Fei Yi wondering if he had been correct.
Ha Gao Fei Yi frowned, but there was understanding in his eyes as he considered Xingyun's demeanor. "No," he finally said, gesturing to the shelf once more. "Try again."

Xingyun nodded to indicate he had heard Fei Yi before he set to studying the shelf once again. After a few moments he frowned, unsure of his choice, but he spoke it aloud anyway. "Yau Yu Sou?"

Rian-chan Xingyun nodded to indicate he had heard Fei Yi before he set to studying the shelf once again. After a few moments he frowned, unsure of his choice, but he spoke it aloud anyway. "Yau Yu Sou?" "Incorrect," came Fei Yi's prompt reply. Was there the tiniest bit of sympathy in his eyes? They seemed so neutral, it was hard to tell... "Again."

Obviously his trains of thought were incorrect and so he tried something else, something random. "Perhaps the Char Siu Bao?" Fei Yi maintained his mostly neutral gaze. "Incorrect. Try once more."

With a voice that conveyed his doubt in his selection he spoke "Is it perhaps the Siu Mai? Fei Yi sighed. Perhaps this skill was a little too difficult for most of the Long who had come to him. "No. Today we must put the Nai Huang Bao on special," he corrected. "Take note of how it looks, and tomorrow will perhaps go better."

He just could not understand how they chose the special, he had turned it over and over in his mind the night before but to no avail. Xingyun mentally berated himself, why couldn't he figure out how to do this? He was sure that by now all the other apprentices had caught on to how to select the daily special but he couldn't master it at all. A few more minutes of looking and he spoke once more "What about the Cheong Fan?"
