"Simple willingness to do the work is not enough," Fei Yi announces, taking a roll of oiled and thick leather and unfurling it onto the counter. Inside, the silvery gleam of knives glint in the morning sunlight streaming through windows. "Even the simplest dishwasher can be willing to work hard. Skill and talent play a large part in being a chef, and one of the most basic skills a chef can learn is knifework."
One of Fei's hands slip around the handle of a sizeable cleaver and he lifts it, displaying it before you and the others. The clean steel of the knife gleams above the wood of the handle. "Your knife and wok are your two most important tools, and you should treat them accordingly. You must also make them a part of yourself, as well-known to you as your own hands. For this test, I will observe each day as you prepare some of the necessary ingredients for this shop, and I will make note of your skill and your speed. I am an exacting master, so I expect nothing but the best from my apprentice."
Each day, your character will recieve five ingredients which need to be sliced, diced, chopped, or otherwise prepared using knife skills. You will prepare each ingredient by rolling 2 10-sided dice and adding your agility stat to each individual dice (not the total). The first dice in a roll represents your accuracy with the knife. The second represents your speed with the knife. At the end of the day, you will recieve points in three areas, based on the average of your ingredients. The first area will be an average of your accuracy. The second area will be an average of your speed. The final area will be an average of your accuracy combined with your speed, to present a report on where your strengths and weaknesses are.
At the end of the event, the person who has the best overall score in all three areas will will this test. However, there is a final note: For days where you only complete a few ingredients, this will bring down your daily average. However, for days you are unable to roll at all, you will not be penalized.
We will take note if you are unable to roll for many days of the event, though.

Roserain Heimei's stats Strength: 6 Agility: 5Intelligence: 7 Wisdom: 4 Charisma: 9 Watching the arch of the blade, and wistfully looking at the leather roll, Hei nodded in appreciation, very much willing to learn in this test, but unsure if he had any real talent for it. Looking at his counter, he examined the ingredients and prepared his space to begin his work.

Does this mean Accuracy is 10, and Speed is 11? And, what exactly does that mean? What's the scale we should be judging by?
Pork ------------------------------------------------------
Deciding to get one of the harder ones out of the way first, he took the bowl of raw pork and laid it out on the work surface. Trimming the fat took a bit of precision and flair with the blade he hadn't quite gotten the hang of yet, but the actual slicing seemed to turn out alright. In any case, he attempted as well as he could, and the results were fairly passable, but he certainly hoped he'd fare better than this with the other ones.

Accuracy - 15 Speed - 14
Shrimp -------------------------------
After cleaning his workspace, the next bowl he reached for contained shrimp. Choosing a much daintier knife, he found with the right flick of his wrist he could expertly cut off the tail and how to slice down the length of the curl at just the right depth. Feeling his confidence soar, Hei quickly found the perfect rhythm and emptied the bowl in only a few moments. In fact, he was kind of sad when there weren't anymore. That had been enjoyable, perhaps the next ingredient would feel similar.

Bok Choy --------------------------------------------------- Still on his confidence high, he grabbed a plate of something he'd never worked with before; bok choy.Making sure to grab a blade better suited, he started to feel his ego crash when he realized he had no idea how to start. Perhaps if he... no. That grip didn't feel right. Well, what if... hm. Hei knew the clock was ticking, but he was much more intent on learning -how- to deal with the bok rather than just get through it.
After some time, he found an angle that seemed to work for him, and paid attention to each cut, making sure that his slices were even and everything came out the same length.

Carrot --------------------------------------
Alright, time for something he was a little more familiar with. Clearing his space again, he pulled the container of carrots forward. A very small knife worked well for this, he knew from experience. Skinning each root took a bit of time though, but his blade flashed quickly, the pitted skin of the carrots coming off in neat, long curls.
When that was done, it was a quick matter to grab a longer knife and slice them into little circles, which he dumped into a clean bowl.

((oh, how fitting for onions))
Accuracy - 8 Speed - 11
Onion -----------------------------------------
Hei had saved the worst for last. Onions. He hated cutting onions. The stinging acidic quality it gave the air, the slick and almost wet feeling of a freshly peeled one. Oh, he wasn't looking forward to this. Hulling each one as quickly as he could, Hei attempted to look away from them as he diced, though it didn't stop from the stinging getting to his eyes. Sure enough his vision blurred, and he did his best to speed through the rest of them, knowing that this would be by far his worst score.

Today's Knifework:
Accuracy: 12.4 Speed: 10.8
Overall: 11.6
Fei Yi frowned at Heimei. "You can do much better with your speed if you hold the knife like so," he said, demonstrating the best way to hold the knife.
