"The kitchen is an unforgiving place. In the depths of winter, its warmth can be welcoming, but at the height of summer, the brutal heat can weaken even the strongest of chefs. And it is not a place where a Long can simply sit and rest. Indeed, there is always activity going on." Fei Yi strides to one counter, resting a hand on the cutting board there. Various cuts and slices stand out compared to his smooth scales.
"Do you believe you have what it takes to become a chef? We shall know by the end of these two weeks, and the first thing I shall evaluate is your ability to endure such conditions. I will make note each day of how many hours you work, so don't shirk." Gold eyes look at you for a moment, then flick away to stare at each of your fellow apprentices-to-be. "Show me your true strength."
For each day, you will roll a d8 and add your strength to it. (For you, please have the number of rolls be... let's say 10.) This total will show the number of hours you've worked in the day without giving up from weakness or exhaustion. The maximum number of hours an extremely skilled and strong chef can work regularly is 16, so if you go past that number, you will be considered to be working overtime.
You will recieve points based on how many hours you work each day, and can see what points you may get from the list below. Additionally, for every day that you roll the dice, you may write a small scene describing how your Long feels at the end of the day. This scene will be worth 2 points for each day, and at the end of the event, this thread might be marked as suitable as an in-depth RP, based on a consensus between the shopowners. At the end of the event, the person with the highest number of points in this test will be declared the winner.

Roserain Heimei's stats Strength: 6Agility: 5 Intelligence: 7 Wisdom: 4 Charisma: 9 Day 1: 15 hours -------------------------------- He had started with such high hopes and happy illusions. Ugh. Taking his time to make his way back to the dorm-like room he was staying at for the duration of the tests, he mulled over the day. Really, 15 hours was a long day; just not long enough for his bruised ego was all. He couldn't imagine doing it all over again tomorrow, and then the day after that. Not that parts hadn't been fun, it was just very trying, as his aching muscles showed.
All in all though, for a first day it hadn't gone too badly, he thought. Challenging, sure, but not badly. Though he doubted Fei Yi had noticed him much. What naive fantasy he'd been entertaining before had pretty much evaporated completely now. There would be no waltzing into the kitchen and whipping up something so amazing that Fei would start crying. There would be no beautiful lady to fall in love with him as he donned and apron and she admired from afar at his skills. And, it was a very real possibility there would be no apprenticeship for him.
He'd be kidding himself if he still believed this would be a breeze, and part of him was grateful for the challenge, but there was still the sting of failure. He shook his head. No, not failure. He wasn't going to count himself out yet.
Reaching his room, he pushed his way in and through sheer willpower spent the time to stretch out and write a few lines in his journal before passing out.

That night, as Fei Yi closed down the kitchen, he looked at each apprentice in turn. To Heimei, he said smiled faintly. "You did well," before turning back to his work. After a moment came the addition, "Keep up the effort."
It seemed this early in the tests, Fei Yi wasn't inclined to give much encouragement.

Day 2 - 13 hours -------------------- Angry with himself, he cursed silently at his own ineptitude. Still, there was nothing he could do to stave off the splitting migraine from the heat of the kitchen. Surely it was something he'd get used to in time, but he was of no use to anyone in this condition. Frustratedly he hung his head,not wanting to meet Fei Yi's eyes when he left, embarrassed by his lack of ability.

Fei Yi made no comment about Heimei's disappearance as he worked at closing up shop that night. Perhaps tomorrow would be better...
