Maenalus was patrolling her usual area of a park in Destiny City as well as all of the space between it and her dorm room at Sovereign Heights. On this occasion, it was nearly night time, but she had still seen some people around here and there, whether it was a couple holding hands or sitting on a park bench, the lone jogger, or a vagrant wandering about. The senshi had kept to skirting around them, though. She wasn't quite sure how anyone would react to her. They could take her for face value as a scantily-clad co-ed wandering around at night (and maybe make the conclusion that she was a lady of the night) or if they suspected she was in on the fight of good and evil, that could lend itself to some interesting conclusions as well. Possibly her greatest fear was of running into someone from one of those rag mags trying to take her picture. In that sense she felt like Bigfoot. Well, decidedly less hairy.
The senshi carried on with her walk deeper into the park where there were even fewer people about and the natural canopy of the trees blocked out what little fading light there was and even obstructed the man-made light given out by the street lamps. She noticed the energy signature before anything else, probably because of the darkness, but ahead of her, she heard a deep, guttural growl. Her head whipped around to its direction and she set off cautiously towards what could only be a youma.
Maenalus approached as quietly and as stealthily as she could, which made for slow goings in high-heels. When she finally saw the youma, it looked rather small and un-offending. Well, for a youma anyway. The thing seemed hunched over or like it was hunting. She furrowed her brows, trying to figure out what was happening, and only when she saw what looked like a sleeping man lying a few feet away from the youma did she begin to put the pieces together. She didn't know if he really was asleep or passed out, but it didn't look quite like the youma had attacked yet. So there was still time!
Gathering up her courage and a nearby stick, Maenalus chucked it at the beast.
"Hey! Get away from him, you!"
She didn't really think it would make for a long fight because of how small the youma was, and the man probably wouldn't have been in that much danger if he had been able to get away. Well, that's what she thought until the youma turned to look at her.
Its face was human-like in appearance, save for any eyes or a mouth. It gave the impression of a face, but it was entirely smooth. Its head rose up on a spindly neck, and it stood. Ohhh. So that's why it'd looked so small... No longer crouched, the youma was probably standing at about 6 feet tall, and its arms nearly dragged along the ground. They were slender until extending into vicious claws. It tilted its head until a distinct crack and it began to approach Maenalus. She. was. screwed.
