Hello, and thanks for inviting me to your guild. (Though just a bit curious as to how you found me? <:3)

My name is Alex, but you may call me Purple, or Purp. I'm 17 years old and a girl, and I've been a UU since I was about 3, at least, because I've been going to UU congregations my whole life.
I have a longterm girlfriend who I plan on marrying, and I hope to introduce her to my church in the very near future.

My interests including reading and listening to music, and I'm an avid writer and roleplayer here on Gaia (mostly in the breedables forum). I like animals a lot too (but nothing that comes from the ocean, ugh).

My personal beliefs, religion wise, include reincarnation, souls and soulmates (I've found mine), destiny and an undetermined amount of gods or god-like dieties, and some sort of afterlife for those who finished their journeys in life.

Hi, Purple! Welcome to the guild. biggrin I did a search for Unitarian Universalism, and a thread came up. You had posted saying you were a U.U., so I sent you a request.

I see!
I just looked and wow, there really aren't any other guilds for UU. Kinda surprising, but it really isn't a mainstream religion I guess.

Well, nice to meet other UUs, you don't see that many on the internet <:3

Hello! I'm Raven, an 18 year-old female college student and proud Atheist Unitarian Universalist. I am extremely excited to have been invited to this guild, and glad that it has found a place on Gaia! 3nodding

I've been going to a Unitarian church all my life, and have recently been having some interesting experiences with religion, as I'm going to a Catholic college. Also, because I'm a music major/vocalist, have been singing in Christian churches since about the time High School began, and attended all Lutheran services when I was away from home at school this year because of being asked to join its choir. (And I really missed the UU church, I can tell you. XP) I was lucky enough to be able to write a paper about Doctor Norbert Capek for a paper for my religion class this year, though, which was pretty great. =)

My gaia life is spent writing (I'm an English minor/want-to-be double major, as well). Thanks again for inviting me to this guild!

Hola, everyone, and muchos gracias to ms. Sableye. ^_^

call me Twilight, or Twi. I'm not realy Universalist Unitarian, as far as I have come to understand it. I consider myself a non-religious Spiritualist. I am also Ordained as a Minister, of no particular religion or denomination of faith. I was Ordained by Chaplain Martin of the Universal Life Church.

I actually practice an ecclectic Spiritual Path called Chaos Magic, and am a Chaos Shaman. that is important to note, because I am not an initiated Adept of the Order of Thanateros. I have no actual background in ceremonial magic, save for some self-taught Witchcraft, and a handful of Spells passed down from my mom.

my Patron Goddess is the Morrigan. I do believe in Spirits, Gods and Goddesses, "Angels", Demons/Daemons, and in the entity known popularly as "God". my mom is Wiccan or Pagan or something, I'm not exactly certain. my stepdad is Hindu, and has the gods Shiva and Ganesh as patrons. my adji is a follower of Kali.

I would rather think of myself as a Philosopher than anything else, to be honest.

also, I am curious as to where I was found, and for what purpose or reason I was invited here. ^_^

Hi all. I'm Munkers, Munks, Laney... whatever you prefer. I accumulate nicknames.

I was raised as a Catholic and continued to practice into my college years despite some major issues with the doctrine. Eventually I decided it was unfair and wrong for me to continue identifying as and practicing a faith that I was "cherry-picking" from. The kicker was when I came to terms with my own beliefs on salvation and that, while I thought Jesus was an awesome guy who had some great social justice teachings, I didn't believe that he was the reason my soul wasn't going to be damned for eternity. Once I realized I couldn't really even call myself a Christian, I definitely couldn't call myself a Catholic.

I searched for awhile trying to find something that I could get behind 100% only to find that a lot of religions have a "One True Way" clause and in my heart of hearts, I just didn't believe that there was one way for everyone. I finally stumbled across UU and it was kind of a light bulb moment. A personal search for truth and light? Hell yeah I can get behind that! One of these days I'll even get around to attending the UU church that isn't too far from me as I still really miss the sort of community I had attending mass in my younger days.

On a non spiritual/religious about me note: I'm married, have my RN, and currently work with a case management group as a disability specialist for people out on short term disability. I like my job quite a bit and I'm looking forward to helping the husband through school this fall so that he can leave retail and find his own dream job.

Hello everyone. You all can call me Lupina.

I've only known about Unitarian Universalism for a couple of years now, and I haven't been to a church in a while. I'm an atheist, and I respect people of religion. It's been kinda hard for me to accept that there is good in everyone, but I hope that changes in time. I've just met many people that I really don't think have any good to them at all. sweatdrop

anyway, thank you for your invite.

Welcome Munkers, Twilght, and Lupina! I hope you guys enjoy the Guild. I suppose I should probably introduce myself too.

My name is Roxanna, but most of my friends call me Roxi. I'm 20, and I've been a Unitarian Universalist since I was about nine or ten. My mother double majored in religion and philosophy, so I always was able to have any questions about religion answered, and I was naturally drawn to a religion that put personal choice and respect for one's fellow human beings first.

I personally believe in reincarnation, although I've made peace with the fact that there may be nothing after death. I also believe in a deity, though I imagine this deity being immanent rather than transcendent (as the world being deity rather than deity being apart from the world.) I also believe that this deity is genderless, but prefer to think of her as a goddess.

As far as my nonreligious beliefs, I'm a progressive feminist, so I try to be extra careful to deal with others on a basis of mutual consent, and expect the same in return.

I love reading and the outdoors. I'm single and bisexual, though I'm not actively searching for love right now. I'm also a student, but since I owe the school money, they won't let me back until I pay off my debt. sweatdrop But when I go back, I'm studying New Media.

Quite interesting to see that this is a brand new guild, just when I thought of searching for it!

You can call me Rhine or D, I'm 22 and agnostic, the sort of type who's searching for some sort of a direction in the universe. I have never regularly attended any sort of church, and I'm looking to change that.

My grandfather, who passed away a few years back, was an active member in his local UU church. I never spent as much time with him as I would have liked to, but it always seemed like it was a very positive thing for him. His memorial service was held in the same church, and you could just feel the warm energy from that place and the people gathered there. I also attended several times as a child, with my father's side of the family, conferences at Star Island, a retreat run by a UU-affiliated organization. Attending the evening services there, even when I was very young, moved me. (I highly recommend attending one of their conferences if you can afford it and are near enough by.)

The long and short of it is, as far as religious and spiritual exploration goes, I have not personally experienced a more warm and inspired group, and so today I started thinking very hard about dragging my butt out of bed next Sunday and attending the service at my local UU church. I figured there must be a related guild, and searched it. Lo and behold!

It must be fate. wink

It boggled my mind when I was searching for a Unitarian Universalist guild and there just weren't any. Especially with as many freethinkers as there are on Gaia. And I have personally talked to other UUs in the forums, so it isn't like we aren't here. But I guess someone has to be the first to start a UU guild.

I hope you enjoy your time in the guild, and that you have success on your spiritual journey. Maybe it is fate, and hopefully we'll be a good source of support. 3nodding
