This is a thread for everyone to pull up a chair, grab themselves some refreshments, and shoot the breeze. Make friends and discuss whatever's on your mind.

I'm kind of excited. We have Tibetan monks leading a guided meditation at my church tomorrow!

Fun! I got to attend a movement meditation class last year and it was pretty incredible.

Meditated with the monks yesterday, and it was pretty awesome. I picked up some pretty cool swag, too. In other news, TROLL SCIENCE!

Gay marriage got legal in New York today! biggrin Who else is excited?
I wish my state were so cool. Instead they're trying to rewrite the constitution to define marriage as being only between a man and a woman, and to outlaw civil unions.

 I'm super excited!
That means my girlfriend and I won't have to go to Boston to get married, and we can get married in our home state of NY <333

 Thanks Sableye <3
Technically we won't get married for at least two more years, since I want us to live together first. BUt we've talked about it hehe. But when I propose this summer, it'll feel a little more "real" in a sense, if you can understand that xD
It's just very exciting.

Between the state trying to permaban gay marriage and the recent defunding of Planned Parenthood, Sableye's a very jaded patriot. sad On a brighter note, today was Pride Sunday at my church. We got the cast of Rent to come over and sing! mrgreen

The Governor here just tried to veto the part of our budget that funds presidential primaries.

Yay @ New York and other cities/states that allow gay marriage! Sadly, my state (MO) is still far behind (silly since STL and KSC are THE main population centers of the state and are blue...).

Gosh, and I just saw a map with the states filled in that allow gay marriage vs. the states that allow you to marry your cousin. It was very surreal.

I know, it's like that though. Could be worse. I remember back in 8th grade (long time ago now, it seems) I heard arguments from some local fundies that an unmarried women who gets raped by a man should be married to him due to their interpretation of the Bible. Let's just be glad THAT isn't on the books...
