U.U.G. is a safe space. That means comments are open to everyone, as long as they don't troll and/or traffic in racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, ageist, sizeist, or otherwise overtly objectionable commentary based on people's intrinsic characteristics. Hate speech, rape apologia, violent imagery, threats, silencing tactics, disrespecting the mods, and personal attacks against any guild member, could result in the following: Your comment flagged for content until the offending content is removed, your comment deleted, and/or you being kicked from the guild.

Members are welcome to discuss what their religious beliefs are and why, if they wish. Members are not welcome to condemn, insult, ridicule, dismiss, or in any way attempt to marginalize or censure other members who do not share those beliefs. These are also grounds for having comments flagged, deleted, or the offender being kicked out of U.U.G. (However, this does not protect comments that break the rules lined out in the previous paragraph. Hate speech done in the name of religious belief is still hate speech.) The same goes for political beliefs, or other strongly held personal beliefs.

If you link to an outside source that breaks the rules lined out in the first paragraph, etiquette requires that you post a prominent Trigger Warning for the offensive content. Say you posted a link to a news story detailing violence against someone because of their sexual orientation (for discussion purposes), the trigger warning might read "TW for homophobia and violence" This is because some members may have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and a trigger warning helps them avoid content that might trigger a panic attack.

Any amendments or additions to these rules will be announced, however coming back to this page to review if a comment might be objectionable is always good. If you have any suggestions to add to the commenting policy, feel free to post it in the comments. Always remember to follow Gaia's TOS.

EDIT: I would also like to take the time to talk about something that I feel very strongly about: cultural and religious misappropriation. Such practices WILL NOT be tolerated in this guild. For those that don't know, cultural/religious misappropriation is taking practices from a culture/religion without doing the research into their cultural significance and then claiming to be a member of that religion or culture (i.e. someone who practices witchcraft and claims to be Wiccan without having been initiated into a coven.) Unitarian Universalism promotes a free and responsible search for truth and meaning, and cultural/religious misappropriation is irresponsible in the highest degree. It is okay to take these practices as part of your personal belief system, however it is NOT okay to claim to belong to a religion or culture you do not in fact belong to. Not only is it lying, but it is disrespectful to people who are members of that culture or religion in earnest.

P.S.: Being kicked from U.U.G. is not an invite to take your issues to the PM inbox of DungeonSableye or any other guild member or mod. Any accusations that the guild leader or mods are denying you your right to free speech will be ignored. This is our space, we have the right to set up boundries and standards for what can and cannot be posted.

Hello,
While I am initiated into a Circle, The Nomadic Chantry of the Gramary, as an Adept/ Priestist it is not a rule that you be initiated into a coven to be a Wiccan. There are many arguments on both sides. There are many solitaries out there who would take offense at your comment. I was also raised a UU. Not to be rude but perhaps you need to know what you're talking about before you make such a broad statement. Maybe there are a few members of CUUPs you could talk to.
