Personality:
Cautious: Instinctively cautious in things concerning the nature of sentient beings, Corrin is the sort of person who is reluctant to get close to anyone. Believing that trust is a thing to be won and only rarely awarded, he views people as more obstacles than allies. Far from being shy, he won't hesitate to patronize others if he thinks they have it coming, or merely as a mechanism to drive them farther away from him. Usually, other people aren't truly worth the investment. His caution mostly applies to tactical situations, and in just how near he allows people to get to the more vulnerable parts of his personality.
Quick-witted: Possessed of a grand vocabulary and an expansive imagination, he tends to put his efforts towards things that are sensory, that he can touch, visualize and hear. A pursuer of knowledge, he will approach others if he feels that they are interesting or in some way exceptional. Something of a cynic, he is gifted with a dry and usually sarcastic sort of humor, and even his compliments occasionally come off as insults due to his very nature. He is always ready with a sharp answer, or a witty, if not scathing retort.
Creative: His favorite outlet. He has a true enthusiasm for music, and the way sounds combine, and in the last year, he's started attempting to learn an instrument or two. Corrin mostly spends his excess time writing whilst listening to music, writing song lyrics (not necessarily good ones) and jotting down his thoughts. He also has a penchant for accessorizing, putting little doo-dads together and completing an already snappy ensemble.
Stubborn: Though he dislikes people in general, when Corrin makes up his mind, he won't hesitate to voice his opinion on the subject. It takes a whole lot to dissuade this fellow from an opinion once he has made his mind up....even if he allows someone to 'win' an arguement, it doesn't truly mean they've swayed him to this opinion. Usually he's merely taking that step back out of wisdom, standing back and reflecting on the fact that he is right, and his opponent is wrong. Despite his cautious nature around others, he won't hesitate to occasionally butt into the business of those who he feels have violated his own personal set of morals and standards. Temporarily, of course.
Emotional: Not necessarily a bad thing, the lithe male feels passionately about his interests and the very few individuals that he does care about. Despite the caution he likes to employ, his emotions sometimes get the better of him, wherein he breaks concentration and gives into rash action. Due to this, he spends a great amount of his time erecting personal barriers around self-perceived weaknesses. There are flaws in those walls, mind, and Corrin is in truth a sensation junkie, fond most especially of tactile and audible stimuli - the former being harder to obtain, due to his oft-standoffish nature. A cranky lil' pikachu who just wants a cuddle? Don't call him on it unless you want to lose fingers.
Strengths: Corrin is possessed of a quick wit, and a keen mind; will not hesitate for one moment to stand up for someone, if he feels they deserve it. Agile and lithe, he is able to quickly adapt to physical confrontation and other such encounters. Once that hard-won trust is obtained, he is loyal to the end, and surprisingly doting and affectionate despite his usual 'bugger off' attitude towards the world at large.
Weaknesses: Proud and arrogant about his own personal beliefs, Corrin will at times stubbornly refuse to admit his own wrongs, or back down even when such a maneuver might be the wiser decision. Distrusting, he believes the world is against him, and oft will lose the potential for friends and allies because of this. Despite his usually pulled-together appearance and behavior, he is, in short, a bit of an emotional disaster, constantly in denial of his own feelings, and completely oblivious to the subtleties of others. If you want to convey something to him, blunt is better.
History: Corrin's story is not an unusual one. Captured from the wild at a very young age by his trainer, he was coddled, loved and adored until the point where he was considered an adolescent, and the allure of the 'sweet new baby pokemon' went away. Soon tiring of him, setting herself up for a 'better' team of pokemon, he was traded away with little thought, away from the trainer that he had looked up to and trusted without remorse. A victim of naivete, he instinctively felt betrayed, as the only parental figure he could clearly remember no longer wanted him.
Due to this, he became recalcitrant, and before long, the situation all but repeated itself, leaving the pikachu all the more jaded and rebellious. Because of this, he was eventually returned to the wild, a place that he no longer felt at home in, having been raised in a 'domesticated' fashion.
When the opportunity was given to him to become more 'human', like the trainers who had left Corrin by the wayside, he agreed in a heartbeat. He wanted to interact with humans, let them know what he thought, and give them a rather lengthy and vehemently worded piece of his mind. That, and to find a way to reassure himself that they were the ones at fault...and that the reason he was tossed aside, isn't because of some inherent, irreparable flaw in himself.
