This is a feedback and theory-craft thread dedicated to improving the enjoyment of the Investing Elite's Death Note game.
I'll list some categories of discussion and you may choose to answer any of the questions that you feel need to be addressed. Also, in the second post I will be having points of discussion for game modifications (aka new roles and play-styles).
If you were not accepted into a game: Did you feel the selection process was unfair? Will you still apply to future games if your schedule allots?
For repeat players who were accepted: -Will you play in future games? -What would you improve about the current game? -What is good about the current set-up of this game? -Were you disappointed with your role-- do there need to be more roles? -How is the round timing/elimination rules?
Everyone is welcome to discuss any aspect of the game thus far.

****Modifications for future games*** The next time I host I plan to incorporate the following changes:
-Make everyone soulbound to another player randomly -Promote the longevity of the game to make up for the brevity -Modifications to the jail/death system
These seem like radical changes, but they are focused on making the game more inclusive for players so long as they are not dead (even then the angels can still revive them).
The new rules would be: -Soulbound players BOTH die if their lover is killed -ONLY the soulbound person voted off to jail goes to jail-- the other stay out of jail -Every 3rd round someone in jail is voted to be released by the general public -Every round while in jail (starting on the 3rd round) the people in jail vote to shank (kill) someone in jail-- whoever they kill, their soulbound partner is also killed.
This adds a more dynamic aspect to the 'jailed' feature and also makes games shorter by the everyone being soulbound feature. However, with the rapid growth of the game, they need to be shorter to support the amount of players that are applying.
The randomized soulbound feature means that uncanny alliances would form-- it disintegrates the concept of starting the game feeling abandoned and gives you someone you can confide in.
There will be bonuses in place for players who win with their partner still in the game.
Anyone soulbound with a sniper CAN win with the sniper.
These are the current changes that I would like discussed.

What if we add a roleplay element? Such as each player is assigned a specific designation to play with. Nothing major after all its all in good fun and we would want some flexiblity for people to play with. Right now all the games are filled with chit chat more than anything which is great but it makes it hard to identify others and allows for more thread death at points, with roleplaying we might be able to add another layer to the game.
Mind when I say roleplay I don't mean anime characters, I mean something like, such and such is the queen and is having a ball, we're all invited but slowly people are dieing left and right and its up to the party goers to figure out which of them is the culprit(s).
Roles could be well for one, the queen/host. Various nobility, some servants and such, just something to play with while chatting amongst the others.

Thank you for making this X! I don't much care for the EVERYONE has a lover thing. I feel like that role needs more development before something like that could happen. Also the jailed contestants can be released thing kind of bothers me. Maybe the angel could choose to revive jailed contestants too without giving up her powers?

I really do like this idea-- there needs to be more of a -theme- with each new game to make it more distinct and players can assume new attitudes and personas while playing. A queen's ball The brink of war A wedding A funeral Themes like that could really add to the enjoyment of the game. Considering I'm majoring in Fiction writing I should really be a lot more proactive in the creation of the writing that is going on...

I'd -love- for there to be a roleplay element! Even if it's just light roleplay. 4laugh
When I was playing as the killer, I kinda made a roleplay thing for the killer's persona and it was fun! It'd be fun if the players did so too. Although with such a huge group, it'd be really confusing. xD
I don't think all the players should be soulbound though. That'd be really confusing. And what if the players were of an odd number? x:
@PoPo: Oooh, mayors and villagers. Reminds me of the werewolf game. ^ u ^ In that game, we killed the jailed people off in the most gruesome manner. 4laugh

Desu-ness In that game, we killed the jailed people off in the most gruesome manner. 4laugh eek -walks as far as possible from Desu- -Will you play in future games? Yeah -What would you improve about the current game? -Were you disappointed with your role-- do there need to be more roles?Anyway, my only opinion is that more roles are needed because if the number of players increase, less people get chances to have a special role, but then I can't think of any roles. -What is good about the current set-up of this game?Eh uh ah It's fun? c: [/shot] -How is the round timing/elimination rules?I get it's to end the game quicker, but sometimes I think it's too fast. But then waiting 2 days for a result is overbearing for me too, so I guess it's alright as it is now.

۞ ۞ -Will you play in future games? NO NEVA I HATE THIS GAME!!! scream I believe that the lovers role was not all that great. People were taken out for no reason but just because they had a lover. They were unable to decipher the clues that led to about 10 suspects or more and then how would they protect each other even after they found each other?? If one pair in a lover was jailed and then they were voted back out by the people would they be bound to their lover again or would the bond be broken by the terrible time spent apart?? I like the idea of having the jailed people having more of an opportunity to stay involved in the game. Oh my gosh that would make a great story!!! "(Blank) had to find a way out of jail so he could eliminate his foe and get revenge. It was a risking idea but must be done...." just put so many ideas in my head twisted What else to say what else to say... I had an idea of a new role a couple days ago, but kinda forgot it.. oh well ۞ ۞

They say... ~I love the idea of adding a roleplay element in the game but with our avatars, wouldn't a certain few themes be rather strange? That and for those of us who enjoy roleplays with long posts... that might... what's the word... scare away people who don't roleplay. Also, I enjoyed the lovers thing. But i really do believe there should be a way to trade/switch/ break up with your lover. { OMG love triangle XD] Anyway I'm not sure about everyone having a lover {cause some players are loners} but I think it's something chhat can certainly be encorperated with future games. Shanking jailed members.... LOL! ~ That's because... for me, you DID

-Will you play in future games? Haha. Yeah. Probably. If you guys continue hosting them in the upcoming months. :3 -What would you improve about the current game? I really don't know. I liked it pretty well as is. -What is good about the current set-up of this game? Yeah like I said I liked it pretty well as is. XD -Were you disappointed with your role-- do there need to be more roles? Well, I've never been just a GCDer, but I have had great fun being the detective. I imagine if I was just a plain 'ol GCDer I would be a little bored though. Although maybe not. -How is the round timing/elimination rules? I think 24 hours a round is good timing. I also think having votes due at the same time everyday is important. Perhaps establishing that time at the beginning of the game would be a good idea. Also, I thought the eliminations rules were perfectly fair. :3 I wouldn't change them, and I would encourage the host to be strict about them in upcoming games.
Regarding roleplay elemtents... I've never been much of a roleplayer, but I think I could probably get into it. XD As long as I'm not expected to write too much.

psychic toaster My Toastie Input ~ 1. Freezer ~ Each round they would be able to choose 1 player to not do whatever their action was. Like the freezer would PM the host a name. if it was a killer, they couldn't killer, a GCDer they couldnt vote, an angel they couldnt protect, etc. etc. ۞ ۞ I like the Freezer one smile ۞ ۞

psychic toaster My Toastie Input ~ On the roleplaying: I think that this could be a good idea, but like people wouldn't have to do it if they didn't want to. If anything I think we should just minimize it to being the area where the game takes place, our avatars, and the killing scenes. Ideas on new roles: Meh I was bored and i randomly thought of some pretty stupid ones. So don't comment on them if they are stupid XD 1. Freezer ~ Each round they would be able to choose 1 player to not do whatever their action was. Like the freezer would PM the host a name. if it was a killer, they couldn't killer, a GCDer they couldnt vote, an angel they couldnt protect, etc. etc. 2. Tourists ~ a group of people would get this role, perhaps 1/4 of the accepted people. They would come in after 3-5 rounds and start becoming like town citizens. Except with them comes a killer, angel, and detective. this could be used for larger games probably XD well that's it so far ^_^ tell me what you think haha! I really like the freezer idea. We should all it like "Hand of god" or something for dramatic effect. xD

I haven't gotten to play yet~. But I play mafia games all the time. They are SO addictive. Anyway, the games fill up so fast, it makes me sad because I can't check Gaia every 3 hours with the ability to post all these forms and things. Maybe have a newbie-only game so more people get a chance to play? But here's a bunch of simple roles that are commonly used other places. They probably need to be renamed to fit the whole Gaia theme though. HWOL - Can protect someone (not themselves!) at night time, but if someone tries to kill the person they're protecting, the HWOL dies in their place instead! Kinda like a less-awesome doctor.
Masons - Two or more innocents that start the game knowing the other masons are innocent.
Survivor - Someone that wins a small amount (probably 50-100k) just for being alive at the end of the game.
Lightkeeper - When this person (usually a killer) dies, voting the next day has to be sent to the host! Nobody is allowed to vote in the thread. Might be tough for a 40-50 person game though.
Politician - Can be innocent or a killer, but usually one of multiple killers, can mess with votes in various ways like secretly having their vote worth more than one, cancelling out someone else's vote, or sneakily adding a couple votes onto someone else!
Announcer - Makes an anonymous post once per day. Can be super useful if they know who the Detective is, since the Detective doesn't have to tell their findings to the thread, they can do it anonymously. Excuse me if I got carried away, but where I play usually has 20-30 person games where everyone has a unique role, or even multiple roles! So I think more roles = more fun. xd
