ok here are my things:
guild meet ups in the virtual hollywood etc place are boring as hell. i mean honestly. if you have a low attention span like me, you can easily click away from the window and forget you are even there. the chat system isalso retarded and clunky. AND. what are you even going to do? sit around and chat? about what, that you cant already talk about in the guild?
so i propose, and this is something i brought up in the very beginning but no one wanted to give me the friggin time of day and listen: guild movie nights. one of the guild members has a movie that they play over livestream, and the rest of the guild watches and chats with each other in the livestream chatroom.
we can also use the livestreams to do guild game nights, where one guild member basically "let's plays" a game and everyone watches. or we can do guild wide art jams, for members of the guild who are artistically gifted. again, you can do that over livestream too, so that other guild members can watch and chat.
AND. we can have skype calls and a guild skype chat. the possibilities are really endless!
also. you dont have to talk about gaia 24/7 guys. i mean i know you guys are all gcders and all, and im really....really happy for you all that you're all proud of that fact. but please talk about other things in the chats. please. the old guild skype chat got boring fast because all that was really ever discussed was like......new gaia items and some s**t. talk about things that interest you! be more outgoing in your speech!
i am pretty much confident that if you do everything i mentioned, plus adding more members, would make this guild a more jumpin and fun place to be, but it;s up to you guys to actually listen to me this time.

Some good ideas with a healthy dose of sarcasm.
I definitely think that being a Gaia guild full of GCDers, the chances of us not talking about Gaia are slim. Though it's not usually the only topic of discussion.
Also, I like the movie night idea, but I think it should be done in Gaia VJ; it's an underused part of Gaia, and it pretty much has the full capabilities of another site.
A year or so ago Ridley Starsmore had a similar thing going with movie night.
Perhaps we could do some sort of art thing. There's a website where everyone can draw on the same picture in real time, though the tools are basically the same as MS Paint.

i would have suggested VJ, if it didnt have the completely abysmal chat system like the rest of the site does. i suggested livestream because it's way simpler, and more streamlined and modernized than an unused, forgotten section of gaia. and, and im not sure if vj is still used this way but this is what i remember, with livestream we're not tied down to watching a video that's already hosted on an external site.
with livestream (or ustream or justin.tv or whatever streaming site you guys are comfortable with) you can stream from videos on your hard drive, or DVDs/blu-rays, as well as stream games and otehr things. pretty much, you see whatever the streamer does on theor computer so if they do something entertaining, it'll be fun.
and with the art thing, i was thinking a mix of open canvas with hamachi. everyone who wants to draw connects through the hamachi server, then connects via open canvas. then one person streams while everyone draws, and those who just want to watch via livestream.
i know like....you want to keep most of the party things on gaia and i dont blame you. we're using gaia after all. but like i think if we keep it to JUST gaia we are limiting ourselves a whole bunch. after a while everything here gets boring fast, and there are other, more professional up to date things we all can do on the internet as a group to help keep this guild fun.

Shady-chan I do a "Fail Movie Night" sometimes. Maybe I can do more of those? ^^ for a livestream to actually get anyone to actually come into them, you need to advertise. doing so in the guild with just a thread is kind of counter productive because...the guild is dead ahahha. in order for it to work, you gotta place a link in an announcement. everyone looks at guild announcements! also calling a movie a fail movie isnt going to get many watchers! play it off as ironic. say the movie is amazing. it makes the experience a lot funnier and laid back.

Actually I find movies on YouTube and put them in VJ... The ironic part doesn't sound so bad though. And regarding the announcements: A) I am merely a member! 2) The lag. The laaaaaaaaag! It's horrible. D8

I have wanted to organise film nights and themed meetups and competition meetups such as avi contests and s**t. I'm not a VC so I'd have to go through someone else to advertise them. And I'm in the future so that doesn't help...
I love the idea of films. I dunno how to use livestream but I'll learn.
I miss the art jams, I stopped doing them because I had a show on, but they were fun and really challenged me to actually pick up the pencils again and draw s**t.
I still like the towns visits... but yeah... it's no fun when no one else likes them. I do agree we should expand to more than just the usual onsite activities.
I would love to do film nights in which we dress the part for the film, that'd interest me greatly! Kinda like rocky horror where people theme dress.

I really like the idea of dressing up to fit the theme of the film! Reminds me a little of the themed days they have for the Gaia Spirit Week. For the film nights, I'd prefer if they were held here, as my computer is too old to handle skype or livestream. What's the point of having a guild on Gaia if all the guild's activity is going to be conducted outside the site? While I see your point about the chat system being laggy and outdated, I think there needs to be a compromise. I'd also like to point out that a major reason for me not being more active (apart from exams) is the fact that most of the conversation here for the past few months has been about Homestuck, which I have no interest in. Now don't get me wrong-I have no problem with people liking and discussing Homestuck, but it'd be nice if we talked about something else other then Homestuck for a change. I guess if I want to discuss other things I should go and make some topics myself, but I'm a lurker by nature and posting doesn't come naturally to me. sweatdrop
