Disclaimer: This is not part of the main storyline. This is just a way for me to get some of my characters story in here before she is incorporated into the main RP thread, and a way to get some background.
I'm a writer so this may be a littler verbose at times, which I apologize for in advance.
Also, (for reference) here is a link to My Character Profile.
(I called this Call to Arms because I always name things after Songs, this one is by Angels and Airwaves....)

Cat looks at the road in front of her, focused and unblinking. She recognizes this particular highway, she used to ride it a lot when she'd visit her parents. It held no sentimental value for her now though, it was dead, as was her child hood, and more likely than not, her parents.
It's quiet more or less there, no screams, no gunshots, no military interference. If a zombie were to attack her, in that moment she would have to rely on no one but herself, and in a way she found that comforting. She was the only person that she could count on.... there was no one she would rather be with.
She glances to the radio, then up to the CD holder strapped to her visor, (though now it holds more ammo than music, she still has a few of her favorites up there.) Music is one of her guilty pleasures, it always has been.
In the before life (what she called the time before the outbreak) she had secretly dreamed of being a rock a star. Nobody had known that about her, and since those days were long gone she doubted anyone ever would. Still though, music was her weakness, her one remaining connection to humanity. Were it not for her tastes in music, she wouldn't recognize herself at all.
Looking in the mirror, she hardly could recognize herself. Her hair was short now, and it didn't look good on her. She hadn't much time for vanity, now more than ever. Apart from the heavy eyeliner she sometimes wore, the only physical attribute she cared about had been her hair. It had been long before the outbreak, down past her butt, and a gorgeous auburn. She had had to cut it of course. She'd dyed a few times to see if it would help, but still it didn't feel right.
Losing the length of her hair was one of the many smaller steps she had taken to surviving. She had also abandoned her Concert T-shirt collection and baggy shorts for all tight clothing. No long hair, no baggy clothes and there was less for them to grab onto. She had allowed herself a few violations, and those came in the silver hoops of her piercings.
She reaches for a Bad Religion CD, but changes her mind. For the first time in her life she doesn't feel like listening to music.

*Yawns* I should really find a good place to pull over, I've been driving for....... I try to remember the last time I stopped. I can't. The last thing I need is to survive the outbreak and die behind the wheel. Still I don't see a good spot yet to pull over. If I can make it just a few more miles.......

*Hums to myself, looking for a place to crash. Takes the first exit I see, pulls into the driveway of a deserted house.*

*I pull my gun from it's holster on my belt as I slowly get out of the car bringing my bag with me. I lock the car behind me (for all the good it does) and I walk up to the front door, keeping my eyes peeled for zombies*

*I try the door, it's locked. I lean forward to pick the lock, keeping my eyes open for any zombies that could blindside me. After a moment, the door swings open. I craefully enter the house.*

I don't drink that often, I don't want to impair my judgement, but alcohol does take the edge off what's going on in the world. Besides, when I was staying for a week at an abandoned shooting range I learned that as long as my BAC doesn't go above about .6 % my accuracy with my pistol isn't lowered enough to cause any fatalities.
Another reason to indulge is I have yet to find a single zombie tonight.

When I'm done eating I do run last check of the house and go into the bedroom, where I lock the door. I sit on the bed and pull my notebook from my bag, then flip to the page with todays date on it.
No zombies found today. It was slow, I spent it on the road, siphoned gas as usual. Stopped at a little house. I've been on the road all day, I'm not even too sure where I'm at right now. Am going to continue my journey as soon as I get up in the morning.
With that I put the journal back in my bag. Another boring day I think, but at least I've survived another day.

When morning hits I rise, am packed up and out of the house before six. I need to find some zombies today, I am in a mood to kill.

Back out on the road I look not for a way to get back on the highway but for a gas station. True, a lot of the pumps don't work anymore, but it's usually the best spot to siphon gas from abandoned cars. Besides, I need to make sure I've got enough to keep me on the road all day.

When I see the sign for the gas station I pull up right away and put my jeep into park. I put one hand on my gun before pulling the keys out of the ignition.
