The nearby stream was a perfect place to relax, at least for a certain young noble of the watery kingdoms. The tranquil sounds of the water soothed his nerves, which were almost constantly being...tread upon, for lack of a better term, by his considerably bright and perky 'assistant'. At least today the young girl had let the princely fish dismiss her...for now, anyway.
Looking into his reflection in a still pool at the edge of the stream, Mtavari, heir to one of the royal families of the watery courts, found himself able to relax for the first time in what seemed like weeks. Finally, he'd been able to get that silly Blessing away from him, at least for a few hours. The beginning of a relaxed smile on his face, the Seaking Renari slipped into the water. Gracefully swimming up the flow, the princely young man paused and looked at one of the smooth boulders just on the edge of the river bank. It was deep enough in that it would be a perfect place to bask in the sun, and still be able to feel the water flowing on his form. Quickly slithering up to the top of the boulder (which was still about two inches under the water), Mtavari layed down and began to soak up the warm sun. With the equivalent of a cat's purr, the royal murmured to himself, "Ahh...finally, I shall get some time to myself..."
Meanwhile, an excitable assistant named Blessing was watching her master from a distance, just enough so that he wouldn't notice her. She did want him to have a nice time, of course, but she knew it was her duty to make sure he was watched over.
She noticed something out of the corner of her eye though, and the Cutie Bell found herself spinning to stare at some forms on a different path. Letting out a girlish squeal, she exclaimed with a wave at the smaller of the two, "Nataaa~! Nata!" What were the chances of running into her best friend here? The two didn't often enough get to talk, since Nata worked for a different house. Of course, it didn't occured to Blessing at that moment that Nata's mistress, the cool Yuuen, and her master, the princely Mtavari, were from rival houses and DIDN'T get along. Oh well~

Today was one of the days that was meant to be spent outside. And Yuuen decided to spent this day with a short stroll about the land. The wind brought warm and refreshing waves to her face as she followed a well-traveled path. Earlier in the morning, there had been a light cover of dew atop the earth, making it damp. Now in the afternoon, someone or something had left tracks on the path.
/How peculiar.../ Yuuen pondered to herself.
Yuuen was just about to continue her wandering thoughts when her childish assistant, Nata, cried out loudly,
"Blessing! Blessing, is that you?!"
Almost immediately did the Cutie Bell take off, leaving her master continuing at a relaxed pace. The weather was perfect as the sun shined onto Yuuen's glamorous scales and warmed her. The cold weather had finally gone and Mother Nature's gift of Spring was just opening. Nearby, a soft and innocent lily stood alone in the grass--catching Yuuen's eye. She was just going to approach until...
"Oh no. Not him." Yuuen scowled. /Now at all times?/
That was it, it was time to end their little stroll. It was time to call Nata and head back to the kingdom. If only her bothersome assistant didn't spot her counterpart, Yuuen wouldn't have to end her stroll.
/I should have requested a new assistant!/

Blessing's squeaky voice was something that Mtavari didn't want to hear while he was relaxing on the water-coated boulder. But what made it worse was that it was screeching the name of...it sounded familiar...Nata, who was Nata again...? She's...Blessing's best friend, right? Mtavari's eyes snapped open, automatically glaring at the his familiar pink assistant and another similar creature. "Blessing..." Mtavari's voice gave an exasperated edge to the name, "Why have you summoned her?"
The princely fish-renari stood up, eyes locking onto another similar figure. Quickly scanning over the newcomer, his eyes narrowed. Keeping his head held regal, he gave a slight nod to one of his own rank, and his voice, although 'polite', was still guarded and tinged with annoyance at his assistant. "Pleasure to see you again, Lady Yuuen. Taking a stroll?" Great, now his day was ruined. Thanks a lot. Blessing.
Blessing on the other hand was very pleased to get to see Nata again. Looking back at Mtavari she said, "Well, I just haven't seen her in foreverrr~!" Turning back to Nata, she squealed, "How's life? I haven't seen you in agesss~!!" Her face was practically permanently in the shape of an excited smile.

Yuuen returned the cold look the princely Renari gave her, her eyes were intense as she glared back with the expression of a ruined day upon her face.
"And the same to you, Lord Mtavari," Yuuen replied formally as Nata reunited with her irritable twin, though the words were bitter and unpleasant in the back of her throat, "What are you doing on a beautiful day such as this?"
Almost immediately did the mental jousting begin as Yuuen returned the greeting to the fellow royal. Both fish-renari did not look away from each other's eyes as they carefully observed each other's moves. It was crucial to keep a level and steady head when dealing with the opposite and rival kingdom. No information should be leaked nor should the two get any closer. The whole kingdom and the royal seat could be compromised.
Meanwhile, Nata was at her highest level of happiness as she continued to chat with her best friend. She too, had a face that mirrored Blessing's expression.
"I know, right? You missed soo much stuff! My life, was totally boring until I ran into you! Oh my gawsh, you just saved me from a day of complete boredom~"
Oh how Yuuen dreaded that girl's squeaky and high-pitched voice, /Silence, you fool!/ she scowled mentally.

Mtavari gave a graceful tail sweep to brush the water off his scales, then replied cooly, "I was taking a tranquil swim until something something came to my attention." That was about as veiled of a snering comment he could make to the other royal.
He stood tall, eyes glaring back into those of his rival. Their nearly identical colored eyes seemed locked, and Mtavari wasn't going to give in. That would be weakness, and weakness was not acceptable from an heir.
Blessing have an excited squeal at her friend, rather oblivious to the royal's conflict. "Oh my gosh, really?! You poor dear! We really need to have a chillaxing day, don'tcha think? Catch up on things, yeah yeah?" Her grin plastered on her face, she gave a light giggling noise. She never got to see her BFF~! And now they were getting to chat! This was the greatest day ever~!!
Mtavari was about to make a snappy comment at his squealy assistant when he heard something rustling towards them. A lower fish-renari squire appeared out of the undergrowth. he gave several bows, then spoke, "L-Lord Mtavari, I bring a messa..." they trailed off, looking at Yuuen. Well, that was convenient. "Lord Mtavari and Lady Yuuen, I bring a message from the High Court. You are both requested to come to a formal meeting of the Houses in the Central Court." He gave another bow.
Mtavari finally broke off his stare-off to look at the messanger, as taking care of one's people is more important than a staring contest. "Both of us? Are you quite sure the Lady Yuuen is supposed to be invited?" His tone was accusatory at best.

"Au contraire, my scaly counterpart," Yuuen replied with a nonchalant expression, trying to rid the air of its earlier tense atmosphere,
"ALL members of the Royal Court are to attend every single meeting in the Central Court. Usually the matters that affect all the residents in the kingdom are to be held in the Central Court, where all is neutral and where kingdom rivalries are put aside for proper decision making for the sake of the Sea."
After her short explanation, Yuuen looked back at her rival with a smug look, her eyes shining. An air of accomplishment was about her as she just outwitted her opponent in front of the Royal Squire and not to mention her defense against her say in the High Court. After all, it was quite obvious that she of all people would be allowed to attend such an affair.
Nata was quite delighted to have a little chat with her BFFL after such a long absence, "Totally! Maybe we could go to the gardens and..."
Her voice trailed off as she spotted the Royal Squire speaking to the Royal heirs.
"Huh..." Nata wondered then whined quietly to her friend, "Blessing? We should go accompany our masters soon. Looks like another super-boring meeting is coming our way! B-but I don't wanna go, I want to stay with you!"
