I don't have any garden at my place. We only have a balcony that is on the shadow side.
I have no idea's which kind of herbs I have to have in that little garden.
One thing is that troubles me, and even my boyfriend doubts me. All the plants I have ever had die.
A few weeks ago someone got me daffodils, still in the mud and all and they stood really pretty. I gave them water every two or three days, but they ended up drying and dying.
But to stay on topic. Which herbs are a must have in a garden?

I've been having this problem too- coming up with the "Must Haves" for my garden. I have some borage and some sweet woodruff, marigolds, rosemary, thyme, sage and stuff- even a little feverfew.

Watering is not enough for your plants. You need to give them good fertilizer as well since they also gather nutirents from the ground. If you notice the ground is dry, donèt simply just water it, this can actually drown your plants, you need to change the soils and mix in furtilzer every year or so depending on your plants.
The "Must Haves", I would assume, are the ones you use the most. Or the most rare ones you can get ahold of.
I have a dried garden in my kitchen since I do not have an actual garden at my house. Basically I buy my herbs, Mint and Sage, *"fresh" from my grocery store and dry them once I get them home for future use. Sometimes I will save a few leaves here and there if I am going to use that that day/night in any cooking. Oherwise I just dry them and store them for future use.
Though when I do get a garden mint, lavender and desert sage are on my list of must haves.
