The sun was rising in the east, and a brisk morning breeze blew through the trees, signaling the start of a new day. Atop a rocky outcropping stood a magnificent creature that overlooked a distant herd from a safe distance. He was not allowed there after all, for he was not a member. A puff of condensed air blew from his nostrils in a sigh as the striped one watched, almost wishing he was a part of their ranks. Herd life seemed to peaceful, and the outriders looked to be rather noble deer.
The breeze blew through his fluffy mane, tossing the long strands about as Aeolus tore his gaze away and turned it down to the lichens and grasses that grew among the rocks. Dipping his head, he sniffed for something edible and began picking at the sparse foliage. Rogue life was tough, but it wasn't something he couldn't handle. Still, the instincts to be among his own kind were strong.
