 The whole day had already gone by without so much as an extraordinary event. Same as any other day. Now the sun was slowly sinking beyond the far hills casting long eastward shadows across the land. Hagane had an ideal view of the sunset from atop the stone ruins of a very old shrine. One that had been carved into the large rock formations in the grassy field.
The interior of the shrine was not so deep that one could not see the entire inside from the outside, but it was still very tall. The back side had crumbled and worn enough to create a good enough incline for Hagane to climb up when she chose to.
It was an ideal spot to think. No one was usually about this area and the forest was far enough that the bird's songs were only faintly heard. It also had a good vantage point to see the entire of the vast field.. Broken, and large stones lay about the entire field and created a nice puzzle. Hagane always fancied looking at them and trying to picture what they were like before they had been destroyed and laid scattered about the field.
She had several ideas, some times even purposely creating something that was not an obvious fit just to imagine what it would have looked like.

Stone had taken it upon himself to go exploring around the old shrine. Given how late it was getting, he figured he should be preparing to get some sleep, but he had that urge to stay up. He was around his element, and there was nothing better that he liked than to go snooping around stone ruins.
Maybe I'll actually watch the sunset for once, he thought as he walked along what used to be part of a stone wall, its height reaching roughly three feet. He came to a small gap, small chunks scattered around its base where it had started to crumble. He jumped to the other side silently and stopped, getting the feeling he wasn't the only one in the area. Looking up, he listened hard. It seemed quiet for the most part, the only thing he could really hear the songs of birds from the distant forest. As he looked around, he spotted Hagane and he tilted his head.
Stone could only see her back and yet now he was curious to who else would be up. Making his way over, he kept silent until he was on a lowered point atop the ruins and took a seat somewhat behind and next to her, keeping a good five feet away. "Nice view," he commented casually.

Hagane had gotten that same feeling though she choose to ignore it. Her puzzle seemed more important. Besides that the other didn't seem to mean any harm so there was no point in worrying so. There was always the possibility that he would come over to- She slowly turned her head and gave Stone a side glance. The thought on the other Renari had lingered too long in her mind. Perhaps this would be more fun than a puzzle?
"It is." She spoke dryly. Not in an insulting manner or to purposely be rude, it was just how she spoke. It was rare to catch her in a fit of any emotion.
Her silvery coat glistened in the last rays of light. Many had confused her hide for that of steel, hence her name. It also gave her the appearance of a statue at times due to her lack of much movement. She stood perfectly still and waited to see if he would continue, her eyes studying him closely as she watched.

Once Stone had spoken, he didn't really think the other Renari would reply. So when she did, he hid his surprise. When she looked his way, he gave a small smirk, as if glad he got an answer, no matter how dry it sounded.
He had kept still where he was while he had waited for her reply. One in passing would have thought he was a stone statue placed there on the ruins, his color almost blending in. Once Hagane had spoke, Stone moved so he was closer and sat again, tilting his head a little. "What're you doing out here?" he asked curiously.

Hagane watched Stone even as he moved closer. She couldn't help but wonder about the 'stones' on his forehead, they were about the same as her's. It was a new puzzle to solve. Perhaps they had come from the same shine at some point?
"I am watching the stones." She shrugged. "And what is your business?"
There were no traces of venom in her tone, still that dry and unemotional voice. It was unusual for her to speak even this much to a stranger. And by now they would have left her alone. This time, however, she was interested enough to make some attempt to make him stay.

Stone looked out to the stones when she mentioned them. They were scattered around, it was an interesting view. "I don't think they're going anywhere," he said with a small smile. It faded when he looked back at her.
It was weird, at least for him it was. Normally he wouldn't be the one to start up a conversation, much less continue one. He had almost felt compelled to continue talking with her. Maybe it was from a feeling he got that they were similar in some way.a
Stone gave a small shrug. "Just exploring. Kind of feel at home here," he said and paused for a moment. "My name is Stone, by the way," he added before looking back out at the stones.

Hagane looked back at the rocks before she answered. "They have been elsewhere long before now."
Her tail flicked as a strange bird flew overhead. She watched it a moment before her focus shifted to Stone. He looked like he would have belonged among these stones. The renari very well looked like a stone himself. Which also made for a fitting name.
"Hagane." She added after a moment. Not many people heard her name from her own mouth. In fact not many people had gotten her to talk as much as she had.

"That is true," Stone agreed with a nod. He smiled a little. "I mean I don't think they're going anyone right this moment. It almost makes you wonder what this place looked like before it started to fall apart," he added, watching the bird as it flew by.
He looked over at her when she recited her name. He almost felt accomplished, getting the feeling she wasn't a talkative Renari most of the time with how simple her replies have been. "That's a nice name," he said to her. "I like it."

Hagane watched that same bird fly by. Perhaps it's last attempt at getting a mean before returning to the nest. Surely before those strange bats came out when the sun was fully set.
"That is what I was looking for." Hagan pointed with her paw to the two rocks huddled closest together in the middle of the field. "Those two were together..." She than pointed to another rock furthest away in the vast filed. "That one was once over here." She moved her paw to a space just below where they were sitting. At first glance the assumption would seem farfetched, however a closer look revealed that the way the rocks were broken matched up with each other. Or so a long hard unblinking stare would reveal. Hagane was most skilled in that skill. In fact she had rarely blinked since Stone had come.
"It is a puzzle. This place looked different before... there were more temples. I want to find out what they looked like and why they are like this now..." Hagane continued ignoring the complement on her name. Though her tail did flick in appreciation she made no other comment toward it. She rarely received any complements and knew little in how to deal with them.
"I think there was a war."

Stone was almost disappointed that she made no comment or real reaction to his compliment. Though he did notice her tail flick, and he took that as being as close to a reply on that as he was going to get. It did make him smile inwardly and also give him a bit of a goal to get her to open up a bit. At least she was still there talking to him--he knew she very well good have left all ready or have told him to leave.
He following the direction to where she pointed and looked at the stones in the oncoming moonlight. His head tilted to the side as if he was trying to see for sure. It took him awhile, but he thought he could see where they matched up. "I think you're right," he said, looking over at her. "Maybe we could try to fix the place up a bit. If you really wanted to, that is," he added, standing.
"And a war seems likely," Stone added, glancing around them.

"You would have to have incredible power to move the stones." She continued to look out over the field. "Perhaps the same as the war that brought them to this...."
She looked over her shoulder and added dryly. "Unless your name means you have command over them."
A strange attempt at humor maybe? It was hard to tell if she was serious or not. Her stair didn't linger on him long. She returned her focus to the now shadows of the large figures she had been staring at before. Occasionally looking up at the stars without moving her head.

Stone seemed to smirk softly. He moved to a lower level ahead of her and sat down once more. "I thought you've never ask," he said, glancing back at her. He turned his attention back out to the stones from the ruins scattered before them and looked to the ones she pointed out before.
With the moon as his light, he seemed to have a concentrated look on his face as he stared ahead. Within seconds, the rock furthest in the field started to shudder before it started to move their way. Stone kept his eyes on it until it stopped on the ground before them. He made a sideways glance at Hagane. "Now where exactly did you say this went?"

If there was any surprise or amazement with Hagane, it did not show. Her expression remained as stoic as ever. Though her tail did flick a few times as she watched the rock slide across the field creating a line of torn grass behind it.
Hagane moved to Stone's side and sat hack on her haunches. She than pointed to a stone close by to them. "It will go there."
Even in the dark she could point out the right stone. She had been here so often that the pattern was memorized. The quarter moon's dim light helped a little as well.

Stone had to smile softly. It'd been awhile since he had needed to move any kind of stone or rock fixture. He glanced over at her when she sat beside him and following her paw to where she pointed. "Right," he said softly, and continued on his way of moving the rock.
Even though he didn't know the place as well as Hagane did--yet--he did his best to place the stone in the right spot. The moon gave him just enough light to get the job done, though he almost wished it was daylight. Stone almost seemed to marvel in his work and thought he did a great job so far once it was placed, despite the trail in the grass he had made in moving the stone.

When Stone stopped moving the stone Hagan looked back over the field. The light was dim enough to see them, however it was not bright enough to her liking. "It would be better to continue this when the sun is back in the sky..."
She looked back at Stone. Her tail flicked a few times again than the red stones on her forehead have off a dim light starting from the center and moving in a clockwise motion. A strange way of communicative than she had yet to find anyone who understood. Perhaps a test. He did have the same-ish stones on his forehead.
"Are you from around here?" She inquired after a pause.
