±: Rukia scanned the night sky as she was involuntarily being dragged to the Ramen Shop. The air was cold, chilling. With her free hand she hugged herself, shivering slightly from the cold. She dipped her head deeper into her polo neck in an attempt to warm her neck and face. She kinda forgot Akio was holding her hand, but it wasn't like it was a crime. Her engrossment to the glimmering night sky caused her to forget him gently perching her hand. Her emerald eyes analysed her surroundings. Different shops, clothes stores, bars, food stalls were all still open at this time of night. It couldn't have been that late though, she didn't have any way to check the time at the moment so she just assumed it was around nine or ten. Luminous stall signs brightened up the entire area, squinting as she looked at them. Her eyes didn't take too kindly to bright lights, so she averted her gaze towards the dimmest yet brightest source of white light, the moon.

It was beautiful, stoic and inspiring. She loved this time of night, since it was the only time she felt generally happy. Not that she didn't feel happy right now, she just felt generally calm. Not angry, not enthusiastic, just calm. Almost empty. She was content enough to feel that way even though she should be still pretty peeved at Akio, but his drunken antics managed to calm her from her fuming state. Pity, too. She felt like decking something. During her little analysis, her gaze turned to the black haired male in front of her who staggering slightly but walking in a casual manner. Her gaze then dipped down towards their hands and realised they were still locked together, and that she was holding his back. Her face quickly became flushed and she panicked as she slid her hand out from under his in a hasty manner. She couldn't believe she never noticed it sooner, she wasn't her usual self today anyway. She was exhausted and hungry. At least now the hungry part would be taken care of.

"Why did you drag me here the whole way?" She asked him with contempt laced into her tone, almost as if she resented it and was confused by it, which wasn't a total lie. She also included in her tone to make it sound like he was avoiding something, in an attempt to get him to reveal his intentions and thoughts on it. She stalked up beside it, walking side by side, fixing her gaze towards them searching for that familiar sign that she cherishes so much.
"There," she indicated towards the bright yellow sign that read "Ramen Shop" in bright black kanji. She skipped ahead of him and flung onto a selected stool, the automatic smell of mouthwathering ramen lingering in the humid air. The heat in there hit her like a ton of bricks, compared to the open space behind them. Steam filled the area behind the counter, rising out and hitting them in the face. It smelled good. "Don't forget, your paying."She reminded him with a chuckle and a smile curling on her lips. She leaned forward to get a better read at the over head menu, scanning with hungry eyes that will satisfy her growling stomach.

The dark haired young Uzumaki walked with surprising grace for someone who had just drunk as much as he had done. He had quite frankly lost count of how many shots and pints he had downed quite some time ago and just like with everything else in his life up until this point he just went on gut feelings and instinct and that had always been enough for him. It was instinct that told him that apologizing and distracting her with the offer of food as a way to say sorry for skipping out on her was a good idea. And it had also been instinct that had told him to take her hand on the way here, he did this with everyone but for anyone else he probably would have let go some time ago now. Walking like this with her just felt...Right somehow. He felt a slight smile tug at the sides of his lips. This one wasn't like his regular cocky grin, it was one of pure contentment which he couldn't remember feeling before. He looked back at her for a moment, noticing that her gaze was elsewhere and he followed it up to the moon. It looked unusually large tonight which was a good thing, the moon was one of the first things that he could remember from the first time he had met her in the pouring rain outside of the Amekage's tower. He decided to leave her alone to her own thoughts for now and continued leading the way.

He pondered on the situation for a few moments and came to the decision that she just hadn't noticed that they were still holding hands, it just wasn't like her to have realized and not cared. His suspicions were proven correct when his aptly named "Rukia senses" picked up that she was looking at him again and then down to their hands, and no sooner had she done so did she remove her hand from his own in the fashion that he had become accustomed to with having known her for so long. It was probably the fact that he enjoyed seeing her squirm as much as she did with him that he tried to subtly flirt with her sometimes. He knew that it would probably fail, he didn't expect much more from someone such as herself. But it was his way of dealing with a number of different things although the greatest of them was nervousness, and in all fairness he was actually attracted to her, not that he would ever admit that to her face however. He never did unless he was sure that the person he was admitting it to could potentially have feelings for him too in return, and he was almost certain that she did not. Which was a shame, because he had wanted nothing more for a while now then an actual relationship instead of yet another stupid fling.

The odd pair had been walking in silence for quite some time now, but after some indefinite amount of time she had finally broken the silence between them. He turned and acknowledged her as she Began to talk. "Hmm?" Before listening to the entire question and nodding, pondering upon it for a moment trying to come up the best and most precise answer he could before eventually shrugging as he spoke. "I dunno? It just felt like the right thing to do I guess?" He looked her straight in the eye and flashed her one of his warm, kind hearted 100 watt smiles that he gave people from time to time when he was being sincere. And he was, the entire reason that Akio ever did anything was precisely because at the time it just felt like the right thing to do. He then followed her gaze once she pointed out whatever she happened to be looking at, and shure enough they had come across the Ramen shop. It was odd, he hadn't even noticed right up until it was pointed out to him and before he knew what had hit him she was already taking a seat and pointing out that he had promised to pay. He was sober enough now to regret promising to do so, but backing out of another promise would probably spell disaster for him. He sat down next to her and waved her comment off. "Yeah yeah, don't worry about it I won't forget."

Akio didn't even need to think about it and he immediately placed an order for himself of three of their largest portions of Miso Ramen. He had a unique way of eating which he had come to refer to as his own personal Kekkei Genkai in which he ate so quickly that he was practically inhaling his food, but in the politest way possible of course. The old shop owner turned to speak to them after having taken their orders, Akio and Rukia were a common sight around these parts and where you found one the other was likely to not be far behind. And the silvery haired old man couldn't help but get a joke in there about it. "Rukia, Akio! It's so good to see my two favorite customers again. What are you doing out so late? Are you on a date perhaps?" Akio had already taken a big mouth full of his food and just about spat it out from shock as he heard the mans words, usually he would have just shrugged it off as a flippant comment and nothing more, but after all he had been thinking of lately and the mixture of the hand holding and everything had left his mind oddly muddled instead of it's usually blank and happy state. He finished his mouthful and pointed at the man before yelling, with a playful hint in his voice that obviously gave away that he was in fact just joking around. "Shut up old man!" He then sank back into his seat with a burning red blush upon his face, not something that happened often. He busied himself with eating until he had calmed down some, which obviously meant that he had finished an entire bowl in record time once again before trying to avert attention to other matters. "So I've been away for a while...What have you been up to? I bet I've missed a lot around these parts and things have probably been pretty boring without me around to entertain everybody huh?"

======================================================
±: She zoned out for a moment, siting on the wooden stool getting sweltered by the rising steam. He told her it was the right thing to do, to grab her hand and practically haul her out of the bar. In what context, in that situation that they were in which she wanted to rip his head off, would it have been the right thing to do? She shook it off, obviously it was the drink in him talking. She had learned to ignore him when he's intoxicated and his usual slurs, so this was no different. Strangely enough she had learned to tolerate him in this state. She figured if he thought about it he wouldn't be able to tell how many shots or drinks he had taken, and based on his demeanor she assumed it was alot. He did seem a little sober, but it was probably her that did that. She smiled to herself. It was a gift. She was also convinced that by the time they have to pay then he'll "forget", and either pass out from drink intake or run like the wind. She realised she was probably more violent with him than she would be anyone else, but she couldn't help it. She didn't know why, but he made her get this acrid, tingling feeling in her stomach that she hated so it's almost like she's punishing him. Then again, she doesn't actually want to hurt him on any level, but she does it anyway even though he doesn't take her seriously, but then again neither does she.

Shortly after Akio had ordered, she ordered a medium portion of Miso Ramen because that would be all she needed to fill her unlike Akio. Akio had a tendency to practically inhale his food, he eats it that fast and efficiently. She would just sit there and watch in amazement as he scarfed his food down then look back at her own and continue to eat it slowly. She wondered it if was some sort of Uzumaki Kekkei Genkai, it's just that unusual. As soon as they ordered, the owner whose name she has trouble remembering, greeted them with a rather unorthodox statement. She turned towards Akio just as he spat out his food in disgust, and chuckled at his antic. Even she knew he meant nothing by it, but it was always so fun to see him squirm. She knew then he was embarrassed by the comment when he told him shut up, even though his tone was laced with a playful loop. Her expression lightened and her eyebrow raised further up her forward as she watched him slump. He was blushing like crazy, something she had never seen on him before except when he was drunk. Did something he say annoy him? It certainly vexed her anyway.

She reached over and touched his shoulder lightly, while speaking with a hesitant smile on her lips.
"Are you okay, Akio?" Her voice wasn't soft and soothing, in fact it was suppressing a giggle. Something about this made her laugh, but in a good way, she didn't know why. Maybe it's because she loves seeing him being immature and whatnot, but she genuinely did what to know what had upset him. She took her hand off and turned back to her bowl, twiddling noodles around it and playing with it, then placed it softly into her mouth. She wasn't really expect a reply, she asked that out of undying cruelty because she knew obviously he wasn't alright. She wondered what had affected him like that, because to her it wasn't obvious. She was weird that way. She continued to eat and cast a glance back at him, eyebrow fixed into a seemingly permanent arch. He had finished his bowl already. That must be his amazing Kekkei Genkai at work, but he didn't seem 100%. She shook her head with a smile and looked back to her bowl, taking another set of noodles onto her chopsticks and intertwining them before placing them into her mouth elegantly.

He began to speak again, and she mumbled a "hmm?" as she scarfed the noodles she was eating down to reply to his question. With a gulp, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and half turned her body towards him, thinking of an appropriately immature response to his. She pursed her lips and looked up and out, trying to think of a reply.
"Um, nothing really. Been pretty boring around here, nothing to do. Trust me you've missed nothing at all, it's been so dead around here it's not even funny." She answered him, folding her arms. A smirk spread across her lips and she reached over and playfully pounded him on the shoulder. "Of course Akio. It's just hasn't been the same without you. Oh, I've missed you so much that my heart aches for you." She said with a playful dramatic flair and a heartfelt cry as if she was in a play. She teased him, and took another mouthful of ramen. That wasn't a complete lie, she had no one to entertain her never mind anyone else. Oddly enough she missed the goofball's company. She finished her ramen bowl and pushed it away slightly from her, smiling sincerely at the owner as he took it away. She turned back to Akio and decided to play around for a while. He had his share of fun, she might as well have hers. With a smirk, although with a little bit of seriousness, she asked him a pretty forward question. "So, did you miss me as much as I missed you?"

Akio had for the most part stopped blushing by now, he was really rather good at suppressing his embarrassment and nervousness when he needed to be. It was just another one of those skills that he had picked up over time out of necessity as he embarrassed himself often and greatly. It had started out as a cry for attention when he was younger simply because of the fact that he had very little skill in any other area and it was the only way that he could with which to garner the attention that he so craved at the time. Obviously his level of skill in Ninjutsu and even Taijutsu to a certain extent had increased too. The only thing he still completely failed at was Genjutsu. But then again he couldn't exactly be good at everything as much as he would like people to believe that he was. He was very nearly finished with his bowl at this point and he was starting to get a little full, which was probably due to his earlier binge of alcohol, but at the very least now that he had something in his stomach a little more substantial then the drink he was starting to sober up ever so nicely.

The dark haired Uzumaki turned his head with a slightly questioning looking on his face when she placed a hand on his shoulder and asked if he was alright. It would seem that she had picked up on his uneasiness, which wasn't exactly hard considering the wall was currently plastered in the contents of his first mouthful and he had only just managed to get rid of his bright red blush. He nodded softly, not exactly sure how to answer her so he just went for the straightforward approach. "Of course I'm fine, why wouldn't I be?" He was trying to downplay his earlier massive surge of awkward defensiveness, playing it cool although he was pretty shure that he was failing at it. Just as always. He had actually finished his bowl as expected way before she had, it was just another park of his own unique Kekkei Genkai, or at the very least that was what he liked to call it. He just hoped that the memory of his earlier very obvious reaction to the notion that they might be dating. He wasn't against the idea, it was just the first time that someone had actually vocalized it instead of it being locked inside his head safe and sound.

Akio had already finished his bowl at this point and had pushed it to one side so that it could be taken back and cleaned and all that. He suppressed the urge to burp because he knew that it wouldn't go over very well so he opted to just hold it for a later time when he was alone. He then settled himself into his seat a little better and listened intently to her tell her about how everything had been while he had been away, a small smile spreading across his face as she revealed that things indeed had been boring and such around here without him around. Which was both good and bad, it was good because it meant that people really did miss him when he was gone but on the flip side leaving people bored like that really didn't make him happy at all. He much preferred people to be happy, just more so when he was the center of attention. He played into her little act, acting hurt when she hit him on the shoulder before laughing it off. "That's what I like to hear. Let your true feelings out, don't be shy!" He said in a playful, half mocking tone that showed he knew she was only joking. He enjoyed these times the best, he could be himself around her without her thinking he was weird at all. It was then that she asked her next question and he fell silent for a moment or two. Dare he actually answer seriously? Or should he just brush it off as nothing? He decided to go the serious route. He looked her in the eye with a completely sincere look as he talked. "Of course I did Rukia. I always miss you when I go away, it's why I always hurry back so I can come see you again." He smiled softly, for once he was not joking and was actually being completely serious. It was an odd feeling, but he liked it none the less. True to his word Akio dug around in his pocket and eventually fished out his wallet. He was still loaded from all of those missions he had completed recently so paying was no problem. He put the correct amount of money on the table before offering her his hand in a gentlemanly manner. "I'd usually offer to walk you home at this point. But the night is young, how about we go for a walk?"

±: Rukia raised her eyebrow when he blatantly lied to her, with the "of course I'm fine why wouldn't I be?" It was painfully obvious he clearly wasn't alright, but she decided not to press into it any further. She assumed it was to do with the whole "dating" thing that the owner came out with in order to mess with them, Rukia payed no heed to it even though she was deeply affected by it. Maybe he was too, since he exploded his mouthful all over the wall. But it wouldn't make sense if that was the reason. What was going through his mind? Maybe it was the sheer shock that someone could come out with something like that since they were good friends. Never the less, he was acting strange. She honestly had never considered the idea, and she assumed Akio hadn't either since he took such a bad reaction to it. She was usually wrong in these kind of areas, but she decided not to let it get to her and just forget it happened. Besides, Akio was a player. He'd never want a real relationship with anybody. She bit her lip as she thought that and stared with contempt towards the counter.

She looked at him when he pretended her punch hurt and played into it. A smile was brought to her lips when he played into her little ploy. That was the Akio she cared about and enjoyed the company of the most, he had enough happy in him for both of them. She felt happy around him, which he loved to do, make people happy. She would never dare show it though through any other gesture that a smile, otherwise he'd never let her live it down. He could be incredibly big headed and cocky at times that she just wanted to thump him into oblivion. She hated being told she was wrong, a nasty flaw to have but she couldn't help it. She turned away to ponder this, but looked back straight away when the laughter ceased and there was dead silence. She looked at him expectantly, wondering what he was thinking about and why he was being so quiet. Did she say something to upset him? She pursed her lips and turned her gaze away for a split second but turned back when she felt his eyes upon hers. She blinked a few times, he was staring right into her eyes. She felt her face heat up and she looked away, trying to deny that feeling. Despite her looking away, she listened to him as he spoke and blushed even more. She raised her eyebrow in his direction, not aware if she was still blushing or not. She forced a laugh, feeling that the situation was becoming awkward and tense which she hated.

"Ha, wow Akio you sounded so sincere there for a second I almost believed you!" A genuine laugh erupted through her lips as she realised he was kidding, placing a hand on her heart as if she was relieved. As a matter of fact she wasn't, she wanted it to be true with every fiber of her being. She didn't dare let it show. She knew he was a joker and didn't take much seriously, which hurt her even more. She had no idea in hell why she felt hurt, and it scared her deeply. What the hell was this boy doing to her? Her laughter ceased and she watched as she fished for his wallet and threw money on the counter. She smiled and looked towards the money, then back at Akio when she noticed a shift in the air. She looked at his hand and then at his face, then smirked. "Whatever," She said with a bored shrug, a thing she usually did to hide her true reaction. She took his hand and she certainly wouldn't allow him to haul her half-way there this time.
