Saffron City, 1994 DESCRIPTION -Even seventeen years ago, Saffron City was the hustling, bustling heart of the Kanto region. It lies in between Celadon City, Vermilion City, Lavender Town, and Cerulean City. At the moment, the future Psychic-type Gym has no leader, though the word going about town is that it's going to be a competition between Mark Lassiter and Sabrina . . . Saffron City is one of the busiest and largest cities in the region, though has not yet achieved fame outside of Kanto. The Silph Co. headquarters building, much smaller than it is in the present day (with Silph Co. still establishing itself worldwide), sits at the heart of the city, while the two gyms dominate the north-eastern corner district. Saffron is the central business district in Kanto, though it has yet to reach 2011 heights - the Magnet Train is but a blueprint in a locomotive engineer's mind, with an old-fashioned electric engine linking Saffron and Goldenrod for the moment. LOCATION -Saffron is located in eastern Kanto. PEOPLE - Saffron City is packed with people, being the single largest city in Kanto. It is the center of commerce, and as such, the people here are very well off and busy. However, wealth has not yet reached 2011 levels, and so people aren't quite as self-centered, with a more palpable sense of community. RESOURCES/EVENTS - Saffron City Gym - The Saffron City Gym is out of action for the moment, with a Gym leadership contest about to unfold . . . Fighting Dojo - This place is right next to the city's gym, and is often a hangout for gym leaders on their off days. There are rumors the Dojo wants to challenge the official Gym for its League place . . . Kanto Train Station - The train service provides relatively speedy transportation to and from Johto, arriving in Goldenrod City. Businesspeople are often the main folks on the train, but trainers can be as well who are making their way to either city or region. Mr. Psychic's House - This man gives away the TM for Psychic to anyone who comes asking. Rumor has it that he has an enormous stockpile of them somewhere in his home... Silph Co. Headquarters - The Silph Co. Headquarters is the largest and tallest building in the city, though not as big as it is in 2011 - contractors are apparently looking to remodel the building, though unsure as to how to go about it. They are the third largest manufacturer of Pokémon technology in the world, and produce a variety of goods for Pokémon trainers, such as the Poké Ball, with the Silph Scope still in development. Pokemon Center / PokeMart - This city has both the Pokemon Center and PokeMart selling Great and Ultra Balls, along with Super and Hyper Potions, and Revives and Full Heals. MYTH/LORE - This all seems terribly familiar . . .

~^~ Ally Mirrera ~^~ -Frontier Brain, Battle Arcade-(( *insert time-travel sequence here* )) Ally and Landors were the first to emerge into the proverbial throwback to Saffron City c.1994, everything looking a tad different than what the Frontier Brain remembered. 'Just like old times,' she thought wryly, running a hand through her raven-colored bangs, in an effort to brush them from her face.
She glanced down next to her, at her Mud Fish 'lackey(so said Mark >.>)'. "...Ideas?"
Landors shrugged in reply. 'Swampert~' Like his raven-haired master, he had no clue as to why Celebi would send them into the pa--
A loud 'Pii~iiKA!!' could be heard as a bright yellow blur slammed into Landors head-first, followed by a blonde man in Army fatigues coming into view.
"Apologies, ma'am." The blonde saluted. "I was trying to retrieve this particular Pikachu for one of my Gym trainers."
The Pikachu? Well, it bit the toe of the blonde's boot. 'Pii~iikachu :<' It could easily be assumed that the little yellow rodent had quite the foul temper.
"..." Ally blinked as the blonde gathered the Mouse Pokemon in his arms, then bid her a good day. "Glad we could...help?" She scratched the back of her head. "I think..." Shaking her head, she began to head for the northern end of Saffron City. "C'mon Landors; I have an idea."
'Swamp.' Nodding, Landors plodded along after the Arcade Star...

αlistair мycroft ℓethbridge-Shaw An Englishman in Johto "Do I just have a face that nobody listens to?" ☜ ♞ ☞ Alistair had felt a pool of what felt almost like nerves building in intensity as he'd stepped through the police box, and the moment all of him was inside, the nerves seemed to jump - he closed his eyes, stomach rebelling, and stumbled forward. Into an alley wall. Shaking his head to shake off the impact, the DI looked around, and he could feel his jaw drop. Saffron City, 1994, just as the little green bugger had said. He'd half-expected it all to be an elaborate prank. But no - the air was cleaner, not as full of pollutants as they would be in seventeen years; there were only a smattering of Pidgey in the sky, no Starly or Pidove; even the cars were old, glorified boxes on wheels, all angles and halfhearted curves. It really was 1994. Alistair shook his head, and suddenly realized there was a packet of jellybabies in his hand. He blinked at the sudden weight, the plastic crinkling in his hand - he could only guess Celebi had put it there, for some insane reason. He opened the packet up, allowing Baskerville to scoff some of the confectionery as he looked around, making sure the others had come through all right. He looked around just in time to catch the Pikachu episode, and blinked accordingly, idly thinking that it rather set the tone. ". . . I really shouldn't be trying to make sense of all this . . ." ☜ ♘ ☞

~^~ Ally Mirrera ~^~ -Frontier Brain, Battle Arcade- A good walk later found Ally and Landors sitting on a backed park bench, the park itself near a residential district. The raven-haired Brain, having found a small bag of jellybabies (somehow)attached to her belt, let her Swampert delight in having a few bits of the confection.
'So...' She frowned slightly, looking up into the blue sky above the City. 'Celebi wants to play an alter-your-own-timeline game...' As she thought about her own past, her (usually bright)reddish-brown eyes dulled just the tiniest bit, remembering what had happened on this particular day in Saffron, seventeen years ago.
'...That little imp can't be thinkin' what I hope it's not thinkin'...' Her hand clenched into a fist, effectively closing the bag of jellybabies from the grasp of a certain Mud Fish.
'Swa~amp~' Landors didn't know what the strange confection was, but he thought they were quite good, as his muted-orange eyes darted from the bag to his master's face.
"Sorry." She gave the Swampert a small smile as she un-clenched her hand, then opened the bag again. "I was just thinkin'."
"If I remember right," she said as she stood up. "At this point, Landors, I'm headin' to New Bark to pick you up, along with..." She let her sentence trail off as she shook her head, raven-colored hair fanning out around her.
It was almost like a light-bulb of realization went off in Landors' head. 'Swampert...'
"Come on." She began to head back towards the main part of Saffron City. "I think I know why Celebi sent us back."
'Swampert...?' Mimicking Ally's earlier facial expression of frowning slightly, Landors plodded along after her. He had a gut feeling that this excursion probably wouldn't go very well~.

-/////Mona Ailteilé/////- "Greetings, I welcome you kindly to-OH GOD IT'S ON FIRE AGAIN!!!!!"
Mona peeped her out of the blue doors, clasping her fingers around the doors like a life-raft. She looked at the ground, and then her gaze darted around to the buildings, people, the sky... Her eyes widened in fear and bewilderment. Out of shock, she stumbled out of the already shockingly blue police box, and onto the ground, heaving a whimper as her picnic basket tumbled on her head. She scrambled on the ground to pick up her things and replace them in her basket, jumped back up, and brushed hair from her face once more. "I'm not really good at saving face..." she thought. Meanwhile inside her basket, which was glowing and rustling about, Lady mewed, before leaping out onto the ground, gracefully as ever. After staing at Mona's already bewildered face, Lady too, looked around in the same amount of shock, fear and awe as everyone else did. After pacing back and forth some, Mona began to calm down after nibbling on Jellybabies.... She also made a mental note to go buy some more later.... She recalled the Celebi once more and cringed. She didn't want to think of what had just happened. She turned to the trainers, which were staring at the statuesque blonde, military-clad and his Pikachu. "...Are you all seeing what I'm seeing?" Her voice teetered from awe to fear once more. There was no breeze. The air was awfully clean for a city, and people busling about in such a dignified but cheery demeanor... People calling out to other people, talking so freely on the streets... Mona began to look off in the direction of a train station, and sighed as she drew her finger to her lips once more. ____________________________ Meanwhile, A blonde man in his late-twenties, with glasses perched on his nose, and a Brunnette woman with a sweetened voice were watlzing off the lastest incoming train. “If life were interesting and exciting, we’d all be on Springer.”-Esp's Mom

Unlike his original plan, Mark jumped from the box, his feet slipping and causing him to land face first onto the pavement. He quickly pushed himself up to his feet, ignoring the blood that trickled from his forehead and nose, and ran off down the road, ignoring the others. Right behind him came Emile, landing on his knee and hands. He made a quick survey of where he was. It truly was Saffron City,1994. Right down to the taste of the air. Although, he had more important things to worry about right now. Like keeing Mark from messing up the present(future).
When the (now temporarily disabled) Psychic spotted the Saffron Gym doors, he didn't slow down at all. Instead he burst through the swinging doors, stopping for a moment to scan the place. That moment soon stretched to several minutes. The place really hadn't been taken over yet. There were no traps, no extra walls, just a big empty room with a battlefield in the middle. Mark could feel his rage evaporating as the nostalgia hit him head on. By the time Emile had caught up, tears had started to roll down Mark's cheeks. It had been 17 years since he saw this place, and now here it as.
Emile came up and placed a hand on Mark's shoulder. Just then, the duo heard the swing doors again. What they saw was something Mark would never believe. It was like something from a comic. The kind of comic where the kid hated this one girl, but once he grew up the woman the boy would pick on became his crush. It as something like that. And Mark only had one word to say. "S-Sabrina?!"

~.~ Sabrina ~.~ "Psychic power isn't something that only a few people have.” The green-haired Psychic let out a small sigh as she exited the series of back rooms, in the building that would - one day - become the Saffron City Gym. Her sister, Karrienne - along with her husband and young niece - had left for Johto's New Bark Town earlier that morning, so those three wouldn't be back for a while. Meaning, she had the whole (empty)building to herse--
...okay, maybe not entirely to herself. "..." She simply quirked a thin, dark-green eyebrow as a white-haired young man all but barged into the building, flanked by what looked like a Mr. Mime. Whoever this man was, he seemed to know her name, so she deemed it only customary that she at least converse with him.
"...If you're looking for the current Leader, young man," she began in an even tone. "I'm afraid that that person hasn't been decided yet." ”Everyone has psychic power. People just don't realize it."

xxxxxxxxMark Lassiterxxxxxxxx "Do not worry, I'm not allowed to read my foe's mind during battle." It was Sabrina alright, right down to the tone of her voice. Mark shook his head, trying to rid any thoughts of infatuation, bringing back the rage he had before. "I know that! I also know that the Gym Leader decision is going to happen in a day or two." His fists were clenched again and was only being held back by Emile. He really wanted to go up and smash the woman in the face right now. He didn't really have a reason, although, or at least he couldn't think of one.
". . .If I had my powers I'd make sure something would change. . ." Mark growled under his breath. He felt useless, like he was just dead weight right now. He couldn't even shove off his Mr. Mime. What could he possibly do to a Psychic master like Sabrina. Actually, now that he thought about it, at this point her powers couldn't have been any stronger than his current ones. Only one thought crossed his mind right now.
"DAMNED CELEBI!"

~.~ Sabrina ~.~ "Psychic power isn't something that only a few people have.” "Well aren't we well informed..." Sabrina's blackish-green eyes met the young man's (oddly-colored)yellow ones, as she simply crossed her arms over her chest. "If you're looking to sign up for a spot in the battle, I'm afraid that time period has long since passed." A pause. "If, however, you wish to become a spectator for the match, I'm sure I can easily arrange that for you." She waved a pale hand, in an almost dismissive manner. "Now...what brings you to a building that's yet to become a Gym?" ”Everyone has psychic power. People just don't realize it."

αlistair мycroft ℓethbridge-Shaw An Englishman in Johto "Do I just have a face that nobody listens to?" ☜ ♞ ☞ Alistair watched as Ally and Mark both departed, the (ex?) Psychic with blood all over his face. The DI shook his head, sending a pained smile Mona's way. "Courage isn't just a matter of not being frightened, you know. It's being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway. Braveheart, Mona." He knew she was a complete stranger, but the words sounded comforting, even if only for him, and upon delivering them, he walked out of the alley, Baskerville following on. It was a sign of the times that no-one paid much attention to Alistair and Baskerville - Team Rocket, Team Galactic, every psychopath with an axe to grind had yet to arrive, and so people didn't find a slightly oddly dressed man and a massive fiery dog walking down a busy high street at all odd or frightening. Eventually, Alistair came to a cafe, but rather than go in, he simply peeked in through the window. Inside, there was the usual hustle and bustle of a busy cafe, steam pouring off the coffee machine - but in the midst of the chaos, history was being made. Alistair's history. His parents and he had come to Saffron to see his brother, Hobson, on his big night - the night he and a whole range of junior workers at Silph were due to be promoted. Before heading on to Silph, they'd stopped off in a cafe, where they'd met Hobson - and so, for the first time in seventeen years, Alistair could see his brother in something other than decaying celluloid. It was . . . like looking into a mirror. His parents had always said he looked like Hobson, but he'd never been able to see it until now - mainly because it wasn't so much appearance but the way he moved that was so familiar to the DI. He was ruffling (good lord) a ten year old Alistair's hair, the young boy sitting with an equally young Growlithe on his lap sleeping, doting parents and a loving brother around him. Alistair had never seen anything so horrific in his whole life. He couldn't look anymore, and walked off at a brisk pace, Baskerville following on, only briefly catching eyes with the ten year old in the cafe before moving on . . . ☜ ♘ ☞

A spectator? If he had his powers he could probably mess with the match in his own favor. But he couldn't. He just couldn't. And for some reason that infuriated him even more. "Do you realize how much you anger me? I can feel so much rage coursing through my veins, yet I can't do a damn thing about it! There's so many things I want to do and I can't do a damned thing! Do you know how irritating that is?!" Mark was now screaming at the(possibly) confused woman.
He couldn't take being in her presence anymore. He had to get out. Quickly turning, Mark barged out the door, leaving a still worried Emile behind. The Mr.Mime faced Sabrina and gave a gentlemanly bow before leaving the building. He met up with the still emotional non-Psychic outside, Mark's face, for some reason, streaming tears. Emile patted the Cianwood Gym Leader's back, the man eventually stopping the waterworks.
He heaved a big sigh, his little emotional outbreak finally ending. "Alright, Emile, let's try and find mini-me. Maybe we can find some way to get a team set up for him for the decisive match." He knew he couldn't touch the little guy without risking massive problems. If he could possibly find a way to communicate with him indirectly. . .he would worry about that later. For now, the former Psychic and his mime ran down the road, hunting for (chibi)Mark.

-/////Mona Ailteilé/////- "Greetings, I welcome you kindly to-OH GOD IT'S ON FIRE AGAIN!!!!!"
Mona stared off in the directions the two trainers departed, before they disappeared. The crowd of people became less threatening, almost like a sea of people she wanted to melt into. She perked up at the words of the friendly sounding DI, and smiled weakly. "Thank you. I suppose a little comfort can go a long way in a strange place." She smiled once more, bowed and set of to pace herself in this strange city. "Meww..." Mona tilted her had off to the side. "What is it?"Lady stared into her eyes (Not in a creepy sense, just foreboding) and twitched her tail in the direction of the train station. Mona stared off into the crowds of people arriving and departing the bustling station. A blonde, twenty-something man, with framed glasses was carrying a a large suitcase. He turned around to use his free hand to grasp a woman's hand. The woman looked awfully young, possibly just barely hitting her twenties. She had curly-ish brunnete hair, and honey-like eyes, yielding into her endearing nature. The young couple walked off from the platform and into a crowd of a million eyes. Mona couldn't believe her eyes, but her brain was telling her this was true. She didn't feel the need to close this off with a statement either. She placed Lady in her basket before weaving herself through a crowd of several strings of time and fate. “If life were interesting and exciting, we’d all be on Springer.”-Esp's Mom

~.~ Sabrina ~.~ "Psychic power isn't something that only a few people have.” "..." Instead of coming up with some form of scathing retort - I mean, who actually likes to be emotionally yelled at? -, Sabrina simply quirked a thin, dark-green eyebrow at the white-haired young man's sudden outburst. Closing her eyes for a moment, she let out a small sigh.
"I apologize for angering you, but curiosity begs me to ask what I've do--" Opening her eyes, the green-haired Psychic noticed that the young man had left her Gym, his Mr. Mime staying behind briefly to give her a departing bow.
Another sigh escaped from behind her thin lips. 'A curious person, that man is...' Shaking her head - in an effort to clear her head from thoughts of the white-haired man -, Sabrina retreated into the series of back-rooms that the would-be Gym had. She had events to prepare for, one of which would happen later that day... ”Everyone has psychic power. People just don't realize it."

~^~ Ally Mirrera ~^~ -Frontier Brain, Battle Arcade- Meanwhile, elsewhere in Saffron City...
"That little magical green #$@$#%..." Ally and Landors had found another cafe - not the one Alistair had found, mind you - and were seated at one of the outdoor tables. The raven-haired Brain had found an issue of Saffron's city newspaper on a nearby - and empty - table, and was currently going over it.
Landors...was taking a nap, under the table, at Ally's feet. 'Swa~amp~' He figured that it was probably best to get a few winks of sleep in before things got...interesting.
After a few moments of skimming over the inked pages with her reddish-brown eyes, Ally had found a picture that she hadn't seen in years. A black-haired couple - who looked to be in their late twenties - were both smiling back at her(in the picture, of course), a young girl in front of them. It was clear that the girl had gotten her reddish-hued eyes from her mother, along with her glossy black hair. The woman had a sort-of oriental elegance to her, from the way she wore her hair, to the outfit she wore in the photo. As for the man, a tuft of almost navy-colored hair hung over the right side of his face, a well-worn messenger bag hanging from one shoulder.
The Brain couldn't help but let a few tears stream down her cheeks. Quickly wiping them away with the heel of her hand, she crumpled up the newspaper, throwing it elsewhere with a bit too much ferocity behind the throw.
This, of course, got the Mud Fish's attention. 'Swampert...?' Peeking out from under the table - how a fully-grown Swampert can fit under a cafe table is anyone's guess -, he placed a massive, three-fingered palm on his master's shoulder.
She gave Landors a weak smile. "I'm alright, buddy." She nodded slightly. "We've got to think of a way to stop 'im from takin' 'em both this time, and we've got plenty of time t'do so."
'Swampert.' The Mud Fish nodded firmly, cracking his knuckles.
"We'll start by figurin' out when the next train from Goldenrod gets back." Ally stood up from the table, Landors standing up as well from where he was napping under the table. "Odds are, mini-me will be on that train..."
