Dar was chatting amicably with Lucien, as she pushed open the door of the ice cream shop, so they could exit. She stole a glance down the street, and saw neither Z nor her partner Heidi. Well, they weren't laying in the gutter, that was a good sign. She prayed they had stayed on separate paths, and her WEAPON just bought shoes and went home. Dar began to prep herself for a party night. No matter how tired she would be after the day was over, this seemed like the type of day Heidi would want to drown her sorrows in an alternative lifestyle and carefree, irresponsible people.
It could be a loooong night. She silently cursed Z. Whatever he said was going to give her a hangover for tomorrow. Dammit.
The TECHNICIAN shoved her hands in her jacket pockets, after pointing down a road leading out of town.
"That way, about 5 miles," she said cryptically.

Following Dar out of nomnomnom, Lucien stepped outside and took a deep breath of the fresh air, quietly giving Dar the time he suspected she needed in order to check the streets for her highly annoyed WEAPON. The annoyance he noted on her face made no sense to him, but he cataloged it for later as the girl turned and pointed down a particularly winding street.
”Okay.” Mimicking her movements, the white haired boy slid his hands into his own pockets before stepping up to stand beside her, facing the direction she’d indicated. ”Shall we go then?”
Setting off down the uneven road, Lucien was careful not to press her for details. He sensed that this was an invitation his companion didn’t often extend to others, but that didn’t leave him much room in which to maneuver their conversation, so…
It wasn’t a conversation started he would normally use with a girl, but based on their earlier conversations at the ice-cream parlor, he was curious to see what she’d say. Lucien’s green eyes lit up with a touch of enthusiasm at the thought – it had been a while since he’d genuinely had a conversation out of interest, not boredom or need. ”Ask me a question. Anything you’ve got on your mind.”
