The brunette clutches the young scientist close, looking into her eyes with a warm, gentle smile. She takes her hand, holding them out, slightly, as if they were about to begin a waltz, her other hand against the small of Satomi's back. "Let me show you what a real relationship is like, Satomi-chan... no objections?" She tilts her head slightly to the side. Her so-called boyfriend had proven himself to be nothing more than a villain. He's been using her for her brain, so he could steal her work... well, she and Cirus had set that straight. She, herself had no sway in the world of science, but Cirus's word is significant. They caught him as he was about to present some of "his" findings. That didn't go so well, for him. "First, we'll begin with basic intimacy... Contact, affection... maybe dinner. But first..." She leans in and gently places her forehead against Satomi's. "The most basic, most affectionate gesture... a kiss." She slowly leans in for a kiss with the young scientist.

[Earlier that month.]
"So, what're you testing for again?" Regan seems... uncertain. There'd been a lot of little sensor nodes attached to her at various points. Satomi was planning to observe her Ki, she was aware, but... through what kind of test, exactly? Was she planning on just having her manipulate it or... was there some sort of threat going to be presented to her? Satomi and science tended to be unpredictable...

Satomi Hakase held her frames between her fingers and straightened them out as she studied the papers that were held by her clipboard in her arm. She had the expression of being satisfied with whatever it was she had just observed on the clipboard, before placing it down on the control panel of the machine in front of her and adjusting a small knob. She was looking at an array of buttons, keyboards, knobs, and information that sped across the digital screen above the panel, but someone who knew her well enough knew she understood every bit of the mess. No, not mess. Not to her. It was information. Science. Her forte. it was her passion.
She glanced at Regan through her large frames and then back at the panel. "Your release of ki. I observe that you have an excellent control of your ki, it rivals that of Sakurazaki-san, if not surpasses." She explained while adjusting a larger knob and entering in some required data into the system. "The way you control it, it's like it's second nature to you. I want to further test this. The machine's going to draw out your ki at different levels and record what it finds." She didn't dive into details, not yet. The details of how it does this usually puts people off because it's not so comfortable. It wasn't dangerous--unless something went wrong with the machine, which hopefully was rarely--nor was it harmful, though it did sting, but it just wasn't very comfortable. But Regan had agreed to being her subject, and Satomi did at least tell her about a few precautions. And for the young scientist, when you agreed to become her test subject and you were already prepped, there wasn't much chance for changing your mind.

"Draw it out...?" That didn't sound... natural. Here, she thought she'd just be putting on a demonstration, but that didn't seem to be the case. "So... when it draws it out, do I allow it or am I supposed to do something at that point?" The busty brunette fidgets a bit, waiting for the tests to begin. Waiting like this was... uneasy, for her. Something was going to happen, but she wasn't sure what that entailed, exactly. "Well, whenever you're ready, Hakase-san." She adopts a basic Ki-focusing stance, taking a deep breath to steady her nerves in preparation.

"Simply act as you naturally would act." Satomi said to her, thinking it over. "Because instinct is the firs thing that would trigger upon release, the readings will pick that up. Once you actually begin to control your ki, it will simply provide me with additional information, like to what extent can you handle your own abilities. Oh, but don't worry, I'm not going too far or doing anything dangerous. I just want some basic readings to start with." She said, grinning a little bit with that familiar excitement she alwasy felt when it came to her scientific research. And it was so hard to find good subjects that were willing, except maybe Ku Fei, so she was glad Regan seemed willing. She doubted Sakurazaki would agree to experimental testing...
That wasn't the point. Before her mind started to wander, she focused on what she was doing and finished setting up the control panel. Regan announced she was ready, which was just what Satomi was waiting for. She didn't give Regan a lot of warning before she flipped a small switch at the top of the panel. Warning would have defeated the purpose. At least, that's what she considered in her head when she was planning the experiment. All of the nodes attached to Regan were meant for reading her physical responses, outside and inside. There was one node though that had a small marker check on the back of it that the switch Satomi had just flipped was attached to directly. It gave off the tiniest current of electricity. It was meant to trigger the nervous system's connection to Regan's brain. Not actualy harmful electricity. The most she would feel would probably be like something tiny pinching her for a brief second. It sent an electromagnetic pulse across her nervous system, to the section of her brain that would trigger a sense of herself being in danger to cause her to instinctively feel the need to defend herself, even if it wasn't clear to her what she was protecting against. Satomi watched carefully as the readings would react and record whatever reactions Regan had.

"Uh huh..." For some reason, Regan doubted that. Or maybe she was just being dramatic. Who knows. Probably just being dramatic, as she doubts that Satomi would expose her to actual danger. "Anyway..." She waits and winces slightly at the pinching sensation before she picks up on a sense of danger. Was this the test, then? Somehow making her feel endangered... She notes quickly she can't tell what it is that's got her on guard, but decides to indulge it. Just act as I normally would in this situation.
She flares her Ki and exerts it around her as pressure. An intimidation tactic, to get the source of the danger to go away. At the same time, she feels for anything that might be moving through the pressure she's exerting. That's most likely the threat.

Satomi was smiling a little bit, watching the readings flashing on the screen. It was really working! Well, not that she thought it wouldn't...when Regan began taking control over her ki, Satomi received readings of pressured areas of it surrounding the subject's body. Hmm... She adjusted the flow a little bit and flipped another switch. Another electromagnetic pulse sped across Regan's nervous system, signaling her brain's senses. Only the slightest control over her body's senses, which was giving her the sense that something was nearby. Removing her eyes from the screen for only a brief second, she grabbed teh control laying on the table next to her. Nothing special, but a simple basic robot. No moveable limbs, and ran on wheels taken from a remote controlled car. She promised the robotics department she'd repair whatever damage was brought to it from her experiment, since technically it didn't belong to her. She directed it closer to where Regan stood, until her readings told her there was an actual physcial disturbance in the pressure area. Now what came was the measure of ki from her reaction to the apparent "threat" that had trespassed into her pressure trap.

"!" Regan whirls around to face the disturbance, Ki focused into her fist, which she has chambered in preparation for a strike. She hasn't closed the distance between her and the robot, but she stops short of a strike, none-the-less. Just a little robot... "You'll have to do better than that, if you want me to smack it." Regan smirks at Satomi, before turning her attention back to her pressure field. Unless... of course... Satomi has put one of her many gadgets on this little robot. Or is using this as a precursor to something bigger... That's a possibility.

Satomi's glasses had a glint of shine come off them as she smirked back. Of course Regan wouldn't feel the need to hit the harmless robot upon seeing it. Had she seen it coming? Well, of course. She put the control down and dug around her pack. Finding it, she pulled out a more sophisticated remote control, that definitely looked like it was made strictly by her. She flicked open the covered button on the top of the remote and pressed her finger down on it. Lights blinked on a nearby structure behind Regan. Walking in, it just looked like some weird model to someone who didn't already know what it was. The robot's eyes blinked to life and there was an unlatching sound behind its back and feet as thrusters kicked on at the flip of a small switch on the remote. It began to move, and soon enough, was jetting right for Regan. She either had full faith that Regan would be able to defend herself before it actually hit her, or she had completely forgotten about the safety factor she promised before. Either way, it was hard to tell.

Regan jolts slightly as she hears the unlatching behind her, looking over her shoulder before turning around and taking a step back. "What the... hell?!" She gets over it quickly as she sees it start up thrusters. Something she's familiar enough with, living with Cirus. She puts her right foot back and waits for the right moment. Then, she focuses Ki into her foot and stomps hard, using the force of the kick downward to propel herself forward and up. She spins to bring her right foot around, Ki still focused into it as she kicks into the robot's chin. Her momentum carries for a while before she starts to fall, and she lands with a slight slide on her feet, crouching down and forward with one hand on the ground for balance. "I figured something like that would happen, with you in charge..."

Satomi's excitement rushed through her as the machine read every manipulation of ki Regan put off in defending herself from the larger robot. The robot's jets shut off suddenly as it went crashing back into the wall it flew towards with a loud commotion. No doubt later on the others would be wondering what on earth she did this time to cause that kind of damage in the room. Oh well, that wasn't the point here. "Very good!" She said, grinning. She switched off the node that was giving off the electromagnetic signals and set the results to print out while she moved around the control panel to where Regan stood. "That's exactly what I needed! Arigato, Regan-san!" She said, still excited about the experiment going off without a hitch. She carefully detached the nodes from Regan's skin, gathering them in her left hand.

"Hold on, now... That's not all. I'll give you a treat, Hakase-san. Just 'cause you're so cute when you're excited." Regan winks and giggles softly, adopting a low stance and chambering her fist. She focuses her ki into her fist before punching at where the robot had landed. Just makin' sure it's down, as she would a normal opponent. She strikes, standing a good few meters away, and the Ki leaves her fist before striking the downed robot, as hard as a normal punch would hit it for. She straightens up after that, looking to Satomi and smiling softly. "That was it." She then lets Satomi proceed with taking the nodes off. "Plenty of data, yes?"

Satomi stepped back to let Regan move, leaving still a couple of nodes on her that picked up light reading on her as she hit the robot again. She heard the control panel make a few more notes and some more data spit itself out. "More than enough." She said with an excited smile. Successful experiments made her like a kid who just aced an assignment in grade school. She removed the rest of the nodes and put them down. "Heh, I knew I asked the right person for this experiment." She said, satisfied. She didn't know a lot of others who were as as skilled with the control of their ki as Regan was. Other than Setsuna. But Setsuna wasn't likely to agree to this. And at this point she knew Regan a little better than the other quieter swordswoman anyway.

Regan smiles softly and nods. "Glad to help, Hakase-san. Say... Cirus could always use competent scientists and engineers to work with, in R&D. Have you thought about what you wanna do when your out of school and all that? Y'know, for a job?" She wonder if Satomi would bite... a chance to work with Cirus Arvennicus, who she is aware is a big name in engineering and science, and a guaranteed job. She starts to get her stuff together, preparing to walk and talk, if Satomi had the time, or if she wanted to get to work right away... somethin'. "What's the data all for, anyway?"

Satomi headed back to the panel to collect the data and lay it on the table. A job? "Well, I've given it some thought, but I'm definitive on anything just yet." Universities already wanted her from around Japan, and she didn't doubt through the right ties people would want to grab her as their employee quickly. Although, she knew who Cirus was, and knew his work. She gathered the information and placed it inside of a case that she put in her backpack. "But...if Cirus-sensei has considered me..." She thought about it, trailing off absently mid-sentence. She carried her backpack. She was going to look over the data when she had more time in the lab. But preparing for this test and getting Regan over here took enough of the time she was given today. "Well...Lingshen and I were already doing studies of applying magic to scientific studies. Ki is an element that a lot of scientists like us haven't really considered yet. It's alreayd found in everyone's body, it's just a matter of being able to really use it and control it like you can. But that's what makes it harder to research and apply, because it's an element within the body..." So was magic, in certain people, but for some reaosn dealing with magic externally was easier than ki. She wasn't going into details. She had a feeling Regan would be lost trying to follow.

"Oooh, I see." Regan blinks softly. "Magic in scientific studies...? That doesn't... magic is anything but scientific, I would think." She thinks about it for a minute before shrugging it off. Satomi knows more about this sort of thing than she does. Besides, she's a bit curious about what Satomi plans to do with this data, specifically. Make things that are powered by Ki, maybe? That would be interesting... Though, she snickers inwardly at the thought of something like, say, a Ki powered toaster.
