UnchainBlades Rexx Debut Trailer
Debut Trailer

Quote:
UnchainBlades ReXX has some pretty well known and powerful names in the Japanese gaming industry behind its development.

The game will be a 3D dungeon RPG with a turn-based battle system, with party members utilizing the ability to turn into monsters by using a unique system called the unchain system, hence the game's title, UnchainBlades ReXX.
Furyu are responsible for publishing titles like Tsuku Monogatari, which was a RPG that focused on high school student Yuuto Ishigami who gains the ability to see the supernatural after falling out a window at school.

Nobuo Uematsu, who is known worldwide for composing music for most of the Final Fantasy titles, will also be composing the game's theme song. Takahashi Hino, who fans will know from his work on the Grandia series will be the scenario designer for UnchainBlades. The director of the game is Toshio Akashi, who worked on the Lunar series.

Characters so far that been revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu are:

Fang - Main protagonist, who is the strongest Dragon King
Crunea - The goddess who watches over the world
Hector - A golem, who is also a royal prince
Niko - A girl with nine tails
All of the characters will be designed by different artists, one of whom is the artist known as Pako, who was the artist for Shining Force Feather.

The Lunar, Shining, and Grandia series are all pretty big in their own right and knowing that staff members, from each of those prior series, will be participating in this game's development certainly does make one wonder if this title could be just as big a legend as the RPGs that came before it.

UnchainBlades ReXX is scheduled to be released in Japan on June 23, 2011 for the PSP

RUMOR: Leaked Details of Sony E3 2011 Lineup
Source
User Image

Quote:
A French Sony employee has leaked some details regarding what Sony has in store at E3 this year. Following are rumors about the NGP, Metal Gear, a possible interest from Bungie, and plenty more.

Before we go into the rest of the details, please be aware that these are only rumors. However, it has been reported by members of the forum that the user who has revealed these details also leaked details for E3 2009 that matched up exactly with what was revealed that year.

  • Sony will confirm the official name, pricing and release date of the NGP
  • There will be 7 first party titles revealed for the NGP
  • Hideo Kojima's NGP project likely to be Peace Walker
  • The Wipeout engine has been perfectly ported over to the NGP and you can expect the release of the game in the first quarter of the NGP's launch
  • Chance of another Metal Gear game on its way in the future
  • There are 37 titles in the working for Sony platforms, but most will not be revealed until a European event (likely Gamescom)
  • Sony will reveal titles that will not be available until Christmas 2012 at E3
  • Santa Monica Studios will be on board, but don't expect much more information about the title (potentially next God of War title)
  • A sequel to Warhawk will be revealed before E3
  • 2 PS3 exclusives won't be presented at E3 but will be available before the end of the year in Europe
  • Twisted Metal, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3 and The Last Guardian will be playable at E3
  • Polyphony Digital are returning with a new title before March 2012
  • Polyphony would like to make Europe a privilege for its next title. "Please don't underestimate their work even if they deceived some of you."
  • A Rockstar game, probably GTA V, could be released before Agent was planned.
  • A third party title is in a "big battle" with Sony. The developers seem to be Bungie, so the game would be their next project with Activision.

The Story of Amy (Playstation Network)

Quote:
Amy, Lexis Numerique's upcoming PlayStation Network exclusive horror survival title, is all about co-operation with the younger half. Headed up by game industry veteran Paul Cuisset, it sounds to be one of the biggest PlayStation Network titles to date.

Set in December 2034, the effects of global warming has plagued the world of Amy with the global spread of diseases and natural disasters. The small town of Silver City, located in Midwest USA, is hit with an unidentified comet-like object from outer space. Waking up from the hit as Lana, the world of Amy becomes hell on Earth. The town residents, infected by a mysterious virus, have become part of a wild horde. Lana shows signs of the virus, as well, but refuses to let it take over her. Now, she's running away from this nightmare. Amy, an autistic eight-year-old girl with "strange powers", will "force [Lana] to make choices that will change both their lives." The pair will have to survive "infected humans, grisly creatures, military Special Forces and even other survivors." We're not told how the pair first come into contact, though Amy doesn't trust Lana at first. Lana must earn her assurance, even if it means putting her own life on the line.

Lana and Amy must approach their enemies tactfully, as they're usually much weaker than their foes. As Lana is slowly infected by the virus, she will mutate and die if not protected by Amy's special powers. However, when signs of Lana's infection are clearer, she can move amongst enemies without being attacked.

Amy is currently in development at VectorCell studios. It promises a "level of detailed rendering, modeling and motion capture animation" typically "expected only from fully boxed product." It'll launch on PlayStation Network in June.

Siegfried Will Not Be The Main Character In The New Soulcalibur
Source
Quote:
It's been a little while since we checked up on Soulcalibur director, Daishi Odashima, so let's take a look at what he's been tweeting about lately.

Odashima started out by talking about previous games in the series, as he's done a few times before. You can read about some of his past tweets using the Soulcalibur tag. This time, the topic concerned the series' main characters.

"Who does everyone think is SC's main character?" Odashima tweeted. "I think, SE=Mitsu, SC1=Xiang, SC2=Nightmare? SC3=Sieg? SC4=Sieg." He continued the next day: "Personal favorites aside, seems like everyone thinks Siegfried is the main character. At least for the more recent series."

Odashima then dropped a quick hint about his upcoming Soulcalibur game: "All I can say for now is the main character for the new game will not be Siegfried. Keep it a secret!" He later added: "The main character cant be revealed yet so use your imagination for now razz All I can say is he/she will be deeply involved with the 2 swords."

It would appear that Odashima's in the good books of the higher-ups at Namco Bandai, for he also revealed that his "recent work" (this may or may not refer to Soulcalibur) is being graced with a higher budget. This was also revealed by way of a tweet, where he stated: "My recent work is to get a higher budget for the game from the company!"

Odashima later closed with a final tweet on the subject of the new Soulcalibur game, stating: "I've said this before but I want the new game to have better tempo and better pacing."

RUMOR: NGP to launch first in the West, four First Party titles
Source
Quote:
At least four first-party titles will launch with Sony’s NGP later this year, a source close to Sony has told Jolt.

Uncharted, ModNation Racers, WipEout 2048, and a new title called Smart As are the games. The new Resistance title, previously shown at media events and trailers, will launch sometime between January and March 2012.

The source also “confirmed” that NGP will launch in the west first due to the ongoing troubles faced by Japan in wake of the March earthquake and tsunami.

New Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Game Details
Interview
Quote:
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim director Todd Howard has divulged new details regarding the game, giving insight on everything from racism causing a clash between Nords and Elves to new details on creatures and some of the major cities. In his recent interview with German site Gameswelt, Howard also talks about having a new system to push more polygons and how would allow for more characters on screen.
"We wouldn't have to make as many choices between how many polygons or memory do we put into the environment versus the people," Howard said. "The bigger cities still have walls that load you, so if we were on a next gen system that's something we wouldn't have to do."

Other details from the interview include:

*Traps are more exciting and found in more areas as well as more puzzle type areas

*Alchemy has seen some minor tweaks, "works differently than Oblivion"

*More than 120 dungeons, plus over a 100 points of interest (side encounters)

*The Nine Divines and the Daedra are in the game, some of them offering unique quests.

*There are mammoths, wolves, deer, elk and rabbits.

*Mammoths are often near Giants.

*Story behind Giants and why they live in the wilderness

*Radiant AI for NPCs include new animations to have them taking out various tasks such as cooking, building armor, working on leather, doing jobs, etc

*Special menus for such skills as cooking.

*There are raw and cooked versions of each food.

*Some are small dungeons spanning 15mins, to large 1-2 hour massive lairs

*In addition to using guilds, Bethesda is looking to provide top notch gameplay.

Sega teases new Shining game
Source
Quote:
The Shining series, which debuted in 1991 on the Sega Genesis, comprises a total of 28 releases, counting remakes and multi-scenario titles. Shining Force EXA, released in 2007 for the PS2, was the last Shining title to receive an official English-language release.
Sega's Tsuyoshi Sawada has teased a new entry in the publisher's acclaimed role-playing game series, Shining. Speaking with the latest Famitsu, Sawada mentioned an upcoming title in the franchise that 'sums up the series as a whole'.

"It's been ten years since the Shining series was re-invented," Sawada commented. "Currently, we're preparing a title that sums up the whole series and should provide an answer to users' curiosity. I can't give details yet, but I'd like to reveal it before we go too far into the future.

"Shining is a long-running series, but development work largely stopped on it for a period of time," he added. "We redeveloped and resurrected the name as Sega shifted from hardware to software, and the goal for the games I've worked on is to target a large swath of the userbase and do something that hasn't been done before with the series. That's still the direction I take today."
