I fare well, I am currently dual booting Mint Julia 10.10 with Win 7. I would like to make Mint my permanent OS but I am still fairly new to Linux, so I would like to learn more about it before doing so.

You could do what I did & permanently use a Linux OS, thus forcing you to learn it as you use it. I'm not exactly an expert, but I can figure things out without any problems.
