The sun was high in the sky, letting out of ray of heat and sunlight. The cool, blue sky was littered with puffy, white clouds. The dark grass was moist, small water droplets rested on the tiny blades of grass. A gentle breeze caressed leaves along the seemingly never-ending field. A man with dark brown hair walked down the field. He looked to be in his early twenties. His boots were brown and stained with blood. They left imprints in the soil. His clothing was loose and ragged, a faded emblem could be seen on the front and back of the tattered, bloody tunic. The emblem showed a silver flame being pierced by a sword through the center. His tired, almost life-less eyes looked down the grassy field. He sighed, and looked down at the scabbard that hung at his side. The scabbard held a sword within it, the hilt of the blade was black, while the scabbard was a light, faint gold color.
"Geez, I can't believe how long it took." Mumbled the man to himself, his voice was tainted with drowsiness. He yawned and looked up into the blue sky. "I wonder how the King is doing." The man sighed and soon a grin spread across his face. "He must be hopeless without his head knight around!" Exclaimed the man, his exclaim was followed by a confident laugh. "When they see that I returned successfully, I'll be moved up a rank for sure!" His grin soon turned into a shy smile. "And I'll be able to see Soyen again..." He shook his head. "Can't get distracted now, the kingdom should only be a few days of walking ahead!"
The man confidently stomped down the field, his lifeless eyes now filled with fire. He smiled to himself as he thought about all the things he would do when he reached the kingdom. His smile then disappeared in an instant, when he heard a noise nearby. He saw several small figures glaring at him from a small distance. There were five small creatures watching him, their fangs showed, and their short swords were raised. "Damn goblins." Mumbled the man as he turned his body to face them. They made odd noises to each other, but their eyes stayed locked on the man. The man lowered his hand and let it rest on the hilt of his sword. He stared at the goblins, and took a step forward.
