Learning Programs

One of the main things Padma plans on doing once this is all over. She understands not everyone will be willing to uproot and follow her to living in the Kawani lands. She wants to set up learning programs back home and in the Kawani lands. What she learns will be sent back to her home for anyone who wishes to learn about what she's discovering in the comfort of their own territory. To gain more understanding of each other and expel the fears of the past that they no longer need to have. She also hopes that her people will take some things from the new lands back with them to better their own living conditions.

The Ambassador

Username:

Soquili name: Padma Rukmini.
Soquili Temper: Unbiased

Personality: Unbiased in her opinions and soft-spoken, like a river bubbling through a silent forest. Those are the first things you will notice about Padma. She has a talent of looking at all sides of the coin, no matter the situation. When it came to the Hippogryph gangs in the area, she could see it from their point of view. She didn't blame them for attacking her. She had been in their territory. It was more her fault than it was theirs and she should have known better. This ability of seeing things in all colors of the light makes her difficult to truly get her mad at you. She understands where you come from.

This, however, doesn't make her easy to take advantage of. Sure, she will easily forgive others, but not to the point of letting herself get hoodwinked. Padma isn't a young mare anymore. She's learned well from all the mistakes she has made in the past.

Another strong trait is her over-protective nature. Kari is her little miracle child and the last living relative she has left in the world. Padma tends to keep too close a watch on her daughter, not allowing the dark mare to do much with the Council. She greatly opposed to her coming along to the Kawani lands in search of the rebels. It was bound to be dangerous. With the artifact broken, there was no way she could protect Kari if there was danger. She relied heavily on Nia to keep her offspring safe. It is difficult for Padma to see her situation like she does everything else. All she sees is danger. She knows it frustrates Kari to no end when both her tail and wing always preventing her daughter from living. It's just something she can't seem to help. And she knows Kari will one day understand when she has foals of her own.

Calm and collected, it is not an often sight to see Padma angry. She carries herself with dainty steps and a gentle voice, always a friendly smile on her lips. She is a lady in every inch of her. From the way she stands straight, her head proudly held high. To even the way she eats, never making a mess. But that is where the similarities to typical royalty stop. Selfless and a bit modest, Padma is aware of her talents and her pretty face. She does not brag or flaunt.

Thoughts on the current events: For the most part, Padma is dumbfounded by what they have discovered. All that she was taught as a filly growing up was a lie. Not an intentional one, but a lie nonetheless. The breaking of the artifact is still a huge lose to her and her people, but becoming less of a huge worry the more she spends in the Kawani lands. She's more upset over the lose of the powers she had become so comfortable with than trying to protect the Alliance from dangers. For there weren't as many dangers as she was first thought to believe. She sees how everyone worked together, both Soquili and two-legged. The Soquili here weren't afraid of the humans. In fact, they seemed to...Love them. Of course, there were the few individuals who didn't add to this discovery, but that was normal.

As far as the rebel leader is concerned, she can't help but be amused. They'd gone to such lengths to liberate themselves from their en slavers, not knowing the en slavers were protecting them from something worse than their own thoughts of the Elemental users. On another hand, she was glad they did. No one had gotten seriously injured(aside from the artifact, of course) and they had discovered something wondrous about the world around them:They didn't really have anything to fear anymore from outsider harm.

Additional Character Info: Padma had always been a mediator between conflicts. She enjoyed solving them, hearing both stories, and helping others find peace. But she had one flaw:She was too unbiased of those around her. In her young mind, she thought everyone saw everything from both sides of the coin. Or, if they couldn't, could be easily persuaded to see the light. Fortunately, Padma was also the young mare to always listen to her superiors. When she was warned about going in search of Hippogryph gangs to set them straight, she followed what her elders told her and stayed put.

There was one gang, however, who messed with the Council. One member in particular, a pretty brown mare with a mane of full feathers, was being most unco-operative. Padma offered to take this one, since the Hippogryph would always hit the stallion that was brought in to talk to her. Padma managed to get in and out unharmed. While she was in there, she attempted to use her charms and told the mare the truth about the Alliance. But the Hippogryph didn't listen. Or didn't want to. She stormed out and it was a while before Padma came across her, again.

Padma was slowly beginning to do more and more things for the Council. Her father did before her, so she got a good word from him before he died of old age before she was fully grown. She took his place, solving small tasks at first and giving advice where asked. She made sure she was known well for her talents with having an unbiased opinion about the world around her. Even in regards to a stallion she had grown up with. His family was always near hers, his parents working for the Alliance, as well, doing the odd job. He was a Hippogryph, one of those who didn't mind not preserving the old culture so strictly. But the problem with him wasn't his family. It was him. All their childhood, he was a rambunctious little colt. Causing trouble all on his own. His favorite sport seemed to be following the icy blue Ulun'suti filly around to pick on her. He was one of the few Padma couldn't get along with. He was just impossible. She tried to avoid him as often as she could.

As they got older, he calmed down. Started to repent and follow in the footsteps of his parents as she was. Padma didn't trust his intentions at first, but they soon started a friendship. It would be many years later until it grew into something more.

Another was also repenting for their mistakes. The Hippogryph Padma had met before was also changing her ways. She went to work for the Council and ended up being stuck with Padma as a bodyguard. Everyone knowing the trouble Padma could get herself into. The Water mare, of course, had other ideas. She brushed off the invitation to have a bodyguard. Thinking her powers were all she needed, practiced on or not.

Her decision soon caught up with her.

Word gets across of a few Hippogryph gangs moving their territory a little too close to where the regular civilians lived. Padma, of course, thought she could do this herself. "All they needed was a bit of persuasion to see the light." So she made for the two gangs by herself. Of course, her simple plan failed. The two sides banded together to attack her, enraged that she, a leather wing, dared to evade their territory. Had it not been for the brown Hippogryph mare whose bodyguard invitation she had brushed off before, that would have been the end of Padma. Nia had swooped in, grabbed the Ulun'suti, and fought her way back out. This single feat was a turning stone t their entire relationship. Padma rethought her dismissal of a bodyguard, realizing she would indeed need it. At the same time, she felt she owed something to the other mare and decided to hone her Water powers in case Nia would ever need them. Thus Padma made it her duty to keep her new friend safe, just the same as her new friend was charged with doing for her.

This was around the time Padma was approached with a promotion. The Council had seen all she had done for their people, both Ulun'suti and Hippogryph alike, and decided to promote her to Ambassador. Knowing her to be an excellent judge of situations when they went wrong. She had a way of looking at both sides of the coin, no matter what the incident was about. Padma, thrilled with the opportunity, gladly accepted.

Not soon after, Padma and her male Hippogryph friend formed a certain agreement. They didn't want to remain friends anymore. They lifemated and Padma's interests turned a little closer to home. She continued her Ambassador duties, but she wanted something more:A Family.

It wouldn't be that easy.

No matter how much they tried, there was never any signs of life inside Padma's womb. Not until several years since their union. She had already guessed she was one of the unfortunate who either could not or just had a lot of difficult conceiving. So when she finally did, it was more of an event than usual. She birthed two foals, both girls. One was sickly and didn't last very long after birth. The second survived up until adulthood. This only strengthened Padma's already protective nature over her child.

Behind the scenes, Padma and Kari have a slightly strained relationship. They love each other, but the Ambassador's tail tightly coiled around her daughter at all times frustrates Kari. 'Specially after the disappearance of her mate, things have been worse for the hybrid. Her mother won't allow her near the meetings, for fear Kari will get ideas about following in either of her parent's footsteps. She's the only thing left for Padma.
