Recently, I've been using the popular language exchange, pen-pal site found here.
Japan-Guide is full of a lot of Japanese learners like ourselves, and filled with just as many eager English learners of all ages.
Before I used Japan-Guide, I was unsure of talking to random people in a way I thought was 100x more awkward than Gaia Forums. On Japan-Guide, you create an 'ad,' and post it. While reviewing Japanese ads, people from Japan review yours, and if they like it - they will contact your account and most likely ask for your eMail. Rest assured, it isn't as bad as I intentionally just made it sound! If you don't believe me, I highly encourage you to watch this
video
because I felt the exact same way. (I had to watch this video almost 20 times before creating my account.)
After creating my ad 3-4 days ago, I received over 11 messages in my account! From here, all I have to do is pick and choose - or continue to view Japanese ads. I've been chatting with 2 of them, and can already see myself dramatically improving. I really recommend Japan-Guide!!
