For some reason the title refers to this episode as episode 10 + 11. I don’t understand why, it’s only one episode that occurs right after episode nine, and it possesses no extra content. So I don’t know what is up with that.
This episode deals with the aftermath of Shuichi’s stunt, wearing girl’s clothes to school. It has several flashbacks as Shuichi relives the experience and the immediate consequences. The episode starts with Shuichi’s parents trying to understand why he did it, and they were interrogating Shuichi’s sister Maho, asking if he lost a bet or was he being bullied. She just blurted out that cross dressing was Shuichi’s idea all along because he wants to be a girl.
The reaction from Shuichi’s parents was remarkably passive. The father was downright cool simply asking his son if he wanted to go out for ice cream. It felt a bit unreal.
The episode also dealt with Anna and her reaction to Shuichi’s coming to school in a dress. The scene where she had a conversation with her famous model friend was faithfully recreated from the manga, but they didn’t include Maiko-chan’s hilarious hypothesis of what it would be like to be married to a cross dresser, and Anna’s reaction to Maiko’s very frank question about Anna’s desire to have sex. They should have shown Anna taking a huge whack at Maiko’s head, it would have been hilarious.
This leads to Anna breaking up with Shuichi, she tries to let him down easy but she uses that wrecking ball line all men dread “Let’s just be friends.” But despite what Anna said she and Shuichi remain close and there’s really no reason to assume that’s the end of her relationship. In the comic Anna later came to accept Shuichi and his cross dressing and is even encouraging him.
