A race of immortals have left their old homeland. After wars have torn the landscape to disaster, they have finally left, refusing to fight a never ending, losing battle. But they are not alone, for the demigods that plagued them have followed them into this new world.
This is their story, their fight, and their struggle for survival.
Intro
Night had fallen, the sounds of the nocturnal surrounding the last group to leave their ancient homeland. There was only a few hundred making this final trip, who were staying behind had already pasted into the next world. Death.
A young woman clutched her uncle's hand, holding a small dagger with her other. Tear marks marred her face, but she was stotic in this time of sadness. The last of her father's line, she had lost any chance at freedom now. But she was not alone. All of her friends faced the same fate, some even worse off than she. Her best friend, whom she had always been close to, had lost everyone. Leaving him all alone, without rank.
"Keep everyone moving, we must not be caught." Their leader, her uncle, said quietly. His long strides nearly pulling the two younger Immortals along behind. His son was on his right, his niece on his left. The only ones left from his family, his inner clan.
"Zio, why do the demigods hate us so?" Her voice was barely over a whisper.
"They hate us for being full blooded." Her cousin answered, mater-of-factly. Only a few decades older than she, he considered himself better compared to her.
"Quiet!" The leader hissed, jerking them both for making unnecessary sounds.
Ahead lie their new home, cleared by those that had left earlier. They had been forced to vanish in small groups, in fear that the demigods would retaliate if they all left at one time.
Leaving the shelter of the trees, no one was expecting the sight before them.
All that had left before them, every single man, woman and child, lay slaughtered on the ground. Half rotted, half eaten, all slain and laying in their heart blood.
None dare wail in sorrow, only keep moving, hoping they didn't share their fallen friends and family, their clanmates' fate.
This storyline takes place a couple years after leaving the homeland, but they have yet to make a stay place. Both Immortals and demigods have escaped the dead world they came from. Each have been taught the other is the enemy.
Will they learn the truth? If so, what is the truth?
Will any set aside their differences and live in peace? Are they able after so long?
There will be LOVE, HATE, DEATH. There will also be UNDERSTANDING, and those that CONDEM others.
Where do you stand?

Immortals Immortals have no real powers, only a few simple things all knew in the beginning. Since they have left their old world, they have not really had time to study nor better what few abilities they have. Only slain by decapitation and having their heart cut out, they are very resilient. Most stay in a state of being forever young, a few have chosen to age slightly, marking them as the elders. There is a strict ranking system they use, defining who you can and cannot marry. To marry more than one rank below you is taboo, and punishable by exile or death. They have kept to their ways, despite being so far from where they had been born. Despite everything they have gone through, they still stop in areas to offer prayers to the dead, once every few weeks. They stop for four days and nights, leaving out the fifth morning at dawn or right before. Their adolescent years last for one hundred years, after that, they quite paying attention to their age. After they feel they are ready, they can marry at any time after one hundred. {{Might add more later, and if someone thinks of something I have left out, let me know. Or even something to define who they are more is more than welcome}}

demigods Demigods are the children of gods and another parent. Most of the time it is a human, occasionally an Immortal and very rarely another being entirely. They are naturally born into power, the type and extent depend on the parent god. They are skilled at birth, mastering it more so as they age and gain more power and understanding. They have no set aging rules. They can be eternally young, even as young as a small child or infant, or young adult. Sometimes they are forever adults, middle aged being the most common in this case. Or they can be forever old, from the start of grey in the hair to the bent over old man or woman. They can only be killed by decapitation, having their heart(s) ripped out and by their own kind. Very rarely has another being killed a demigod, and never by accident. They don't really have a ranking system, per say. It really just depends on who the parent god is and so forth. They are also known for fooling around, before and sometimes after, marrying. As they are gods themselves, they don't really stop and offer prayers or anything to grant them good travel or to help the dead rest in peace. {{Might add more later, and if someone things of something I have left out, let me know. Or even something to define who they are more is more than welcome}}

Brezza ran on ahead even after the clan stopped for the night. She could hear a stream, and she had always been fascinated by running water. Her father had even said she was more Mermaid than Immortal.
Her cousin had tried following her, but she had lost him easily in the thick foliage in the trees. It served him right for bothering her the entire day.
She loved her uncle dearly, but couldn't stand her cousin and the fact he could get away with things or blame them on her.
What could she have possibly wanted with the Scroll of Ages? She hated the ways her people lived anymore.
But she had to get to the stream before Rafaele got there. They had promised to meet when they stopped near water, and they had made it a game to see who reached it first.

Acqua was sitting up in a branch, listening to the sound of her little stream. She was different from the rest of her family, preferring to sit and listen rather than stand and fight. She didn't see a reason to fight the Immortals, what had they done to her? But, she had been raised that Immortals were the only ones that could really kill demigods. Her kind, so she should stand and fight them. She didn't think that way. In the distance, she could make out the sound of a female running over an animal path. A male was closer, though, so she decided to stay and hear what they might have to say. Maybe that would get her family off her back if she came back with information about the enemy.

She was almost to the stream when two strong arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her back into a hard chest and into the air. "Rafaele!" She giggled, turning her head to look up at him.
"What?" He asked innocently, staring into her eyes.
"You cheater, you scouted today, didn't you?" She accused lightly, squirming out of his arms.
"I do everything to rise through the ranks, Brezza. You know that. Only four more years, then I'll be the same rank as you." He whispered it almost reverently.
"Don't, please. Zio is being stubborn again; I fear no one will rise for many years if this keeps up." Her hazel eyes shimmered, the threat of tears showing.
"Brezza, do not cry. I am proving myself so we can be together. Just four more years, love, only that long. Being Immortal, it is more like four months, weeks even." He tried, cupping her face in his hands. Her silky white hair slid over his fingers as she slowly shook her head.
"Do not get my hopes up, Rafaele. I do not think I can take it. Let us train, I have been waiting for you to practice with me." She smiled sadly, taking his hand and holding it in both of her smaller hands. He was a warrior now, no longer the boy she had played with as a child. They had both changed. Their ranks keeping them apart. But they had fallen in love and met together in secret anyway.

Acqua was intrigued by what they were saying. It wasn't everyday she got to listen in on what Immortals did when not talking war. These two could be any age, much like herself, yet acted fairly young. Maybe she could get something important from them. In the very least, the girl was high ranking from the white hair she had cascading down her back. From what she had been taught as a child, white hair on an Immortal meant a high rank of the Ruling Line. This woman was either the daughter, or the wife. But from the words being exchanged, most likely daughter. The male had white hair as well, but it had more silver than the female. He was born high, but when did he say he had to rise through the ranks? This was new.

Rafaele sighed, placing a kiss on her fingers. He could deny her nothing. Less lone something so small. "Alright, love. We will train. But only for a bit. The others are sure to come looking for us soon." He whispered, taking her bow from her hair.
"Hey!" She protested, making a grab for it.
Rafaele tsked at her, taking a step closer to the water. His eyes gained a mischievous gleam. "Now now, what have I taught you? I did not teach you to say 'hey' when trying to recover something. Did I?" His voice gained a mocking tone.
"You know what that ribbon means to me! Give it back!" Brezza pleaded, making another grab for it. When he stepped back again, she lost her balance and toppled forward. Rafaele made a step forward to catch her, but ended up under her on the spongy ground. A rose color crept up her face, contrasting starkly against her pale hair and skin. A lighter shade was across Rafaele's cheeks as he tried to disentangle them.
"Brezza, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to--" he paused as she started laughing. "What's so funny?" He demanded, his eyes flaring slightly.
"No, no, its not you!" She panted out between laughs. "I was remembering when we were younger." A huge smile was on her lips, her blush gone. "We fought over a toy when your father came to talk with mine. I can't believe I remember that!" She was laughing again, sitting up yet leaning against him at the same time.
Thinking back, he could remember that as well. Their fathers had finally heard them and came to break it up. They had ended up in a pile on the floor of the main hall, laughing like she was now. The long forgotten memory brought forth a bubble of laughter from him as well. "It has been a long time, hasn't it?" He asked, wrapping an arm around her trembling shoulders.
She nodded, her laughter giving way to crying. Burring her face in her hands, she let her tears run free. Brezza only let her emotions out around Rafaele, knowing he would just let it run, not chasten her over such things.
"I am sorry, I should not have brought that up." He whispered, replacing the lavender and black ribbon to her hair. It had been her mother's, given to her on her fifth birthday. She had had it as long as he could remember.

This was more interesting that watching her family fight, Acqua thought to herself. She wanted to play with the water so close to where they sat, but didn't dare give up her hiding. They were dangerous, Immortals were. That was what her mother always told her, anyway. If only she could see their faces better, she would be able to win favor with her uncle. That was hard, and she desperately needed his favor.

Maelan wandered into the maze of trees. They had already set up camp for the night and she was finally getting some time to herself. The girl continued on until she was sure those back at camp wouldn't be able to hear her. Maelan scanned the area around her then listened for a few minutes. Hearing nothing out of the ordinary she smiled and started to sing. It was only those closest to her that she would ever sing in front of.

Brezza heard singing, her sobs subsiding. It sounded like Mealan, but she couldn't be sure.
Rafaele rubbed her back, trying to help sooth her. She looked so broken right now, it was making his heart ache. If only he could wipe the sadness from her heart.
"I guess we should head back. Zio will come after me soon. He said something about studies earlier. I'm to shaken to train." Her voice was small, sad. Her eyes still bright with the threat of tears. The music on the wind only making her sadder. They had lost so much, so many. There was not a single one of them that had not lost someone dear to them.
"Brezza, you're eyes are puffy. Maybe we should wait a bit. Don Giovanni will not like it if I walk you back and you've been crying." He whispered, tightening his grip in her shoulders.
"I'll be fine by the time we reach camp. Really, Rafaele, I'll be fine." She smiled up at him, getting to her feet slowly. She was already taking calming breaths and wiping her eyes. She would not get him in trouble, but needed to talk to a female for a bit.

Maelan sighed as the song came to an end. She leaned against a massive Oak tree, slowly sinking to rest on the hard packed dirt, her back against the tree. The immortal let her eyelids drift shut and began another, slightly cheerier, song, memories from a happier time flashing through her mind. A time when the people she sang for were numerous. Nowadays there were so few she felt close to and the times she sang for them were few and far between. Wind carried away the melodious tune that poured from her lips, but it didn't matter, most everyone was back at camp. Even if someone did overhear her, only those who Maelan had sang for would be able to recognize her voice.

Sighing, Brezza started back for camp, Rafaele could get upset all he wanted. She just wanted to go back and sleep. Something her uncle would surely scold her for. As if she wasn't scolded enough for running every evening. The sounds of singing reached her again, this time she knew it was Maelan. Heading in the direction she heard the voice, she hoped they could talk for a bit. Anything to stay away from camp and her family instructing her on the role of being high ranked. How she loathed the ranking system, it kept her from those she cared about.
Rafaele followed along behind silently, knowing when Brezza set her mind to something, nothing could change it.

Acqua heard music, but was more interested in what was going on between the two immortals to pay much mind. They were leaving, and she hadn't gained much information. She didn't dare follow them back to their camp, that was suicide. She might not like her life, but she wasn't about to go get herself killed by a bunch of immortals. Sighing, she turned to mist and started for home. She had gained enough to whet her uncle's appetite, so she would have to be content with it for not. She would just make sure to follow them around come morning, she could always use the exercise to keep in shape, maybe call up a rain to slow progress for them. Anything would work, really. With that on her mind, she returned to the clouds, hoping her family would listen to her before hitting her.

Maelan glanced up at the sound of approaching footsteps, her song cut short. Who could that be? She wondered as the noise grew louder. They couldn't have followed her from camp, she made sure of that. So who was it? She stood, scanning the thick foliage to try and locate whoever it was. Her blue eyes locked onto a white haired figure. Was that? "Brezza!" Maelan's face lit up with a smile as she ran toward the other girl, quickly closing the distance between herself and her friend. As she reached out to hug the immortal Maelan's eyes landed on the male behind Brezza. "Hello Rafaele." She said, smiling at him as well.
