Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with:
mount: according to mtab, /dev/sda1 is already mounted on /
mount failed

i mangaged to get all other things i need to work problem is my usb storage devices both the external and pendrives dont work

Well first off what is in both your /etc/mtab and your /etc/fstab? It sounds like your root partition is trying to be remounted

well im useing the netbook edition so finding all the command stuff has been a hassle since so far all the tutorials are for the standard edition

The only thing that is different is the UI between the netbook remix and the desktop. Things to try:

From the application menu there should be a search box and just type "terminal"

Bring up the run command by hitting Alt + F2

Switch to a virtual terminal by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F(1-6) and running

less /etc/(fstab|mtab) > ~/(fstab|mtab)

Then get back to the GUI by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F7.

I take it you are new to Linux so one tip is there is more than one way to do it.

*note I am not familiar with Unity/Gnome-shell I am a KDE/Awesome fan
