]Up the hill, in the fields is the most fertile land of the island. Previous the site of another vegetable farms, the Hipp family raised everything to start anew! Really, what were the previous owners thinking? Everything was so badly done! Now, there were weeds, rocks an branches everywhere! This is what happen when you leave it amateurs! Thankfully, the Hipp family came to the rescue! It was quickly transformed into a proper farm. The husband, even asked the local wood cutter to build a small coop for his small flock of chicken and a small stable for his one cow and one horse. On the other side, is the little house where Turner and Talna Hipp lives, but, you're in the wrong subforum for that.
Here is a list of the vegetables growing on the farm and in what season they are produce. They also grow a small limited amount of fruits, mostly for their own consumption, but also for anyone willing to pay the price... then again, it's their fault for not going to the orchard next door... The field closest to the house is one of flowers, where Talna spends her free time. It might bring in some bees close, but eh, they have free honey! Furthermore, the right flower might please the right fairy.... if you know her name!

The whole walk away from the hot springs had been done in utter silence, Romane dropping his hand partway there as she tried to regain her composure. That was humiliating. Not only was that the first time she had seen so many nude men – nude people in general – but, she had to arrest herself in front of them all and get shooed away like some secondary nuisance! ..Was that what Romane had become? She knew she wasn't the most favored person in the town, but she didn't think she wasn't 'important'. Where would the town be without her to patrol it every night?! ...Kidnapped. Molested. Homes burned down.. ..She really didn't do her job that well, did she? From embarrassment to irritation to finally settling into a mild depression, Romane had quietly lead Auguste off to the farms, as she recalled that, if anywhere, this plot of land surely was empty. After all, she hadn't seen any new ownership papers at all that week and she was always on top of who was living in town.
..Ah! See? She wasn't that useless! She was capable of keeping track of the population and memorizing criminal records! It wasn't much, but it was enough to please her dwindling confidence! In fact, she bet she would be able to find a suspect if she just looked over the suspicious people currently living in town! Yes, she must have seen a new face in the last few seasons that could fit the bill.. This was starting to pick her mood back up! In fact, she felt like going straight to the station to get back to work right then~! But, first. She looked at Auguste, stopping on the farmland with a soft frown. Ah, she always had trouble with saying things of this nature.. She cleared her throat once and looked to him in what she hoped was 'sorrily'.
“I apologize, Mr. Vineyard. I was under the impression you were committing illegal activities or, at the least, were planning on doing such things. However, it seems I was mistaken.” Of course, anyone would have been reluctant to go to the hot springs if they knew that was happening there. Outside of his stiffness on the mountain, all she could see was another naïve idiot that she would have to work twice as hard in assuring they were safe. “It is growing late, I would recommend you return home before it becomes too dark. There is little artificial light in this area to maintain a clear vision without the aid of a flashlight. I have yet to see you in possession of one, so I assume I am correct in saying returning home as soon as possible would be in your best benefit.” She added as she went to her own belt to look for her own flashlight. In other words, she was ending their tour in favor of work. What else could be expected? It was getting late and after that scene, she was sure they both would rather get on with their own methods to block out the excessive nudity.

Ah, how wrong Romane was at that instant! For, that plot of land was not empty! For a new couple had just moved to the plot of land! Well, they had movd about a month ago, but they had been too busy doing completely ordinary work around the property to make it look like it hadn't been neglected (which it totally had been) in the last 5 years. It would be at least another two years of work before it was back to being full farmland of it's own! The reason Roman hadn't see any paperwork of land exchange or whatnot was because that plot of land had been in their family for generations! Oh, who's family you might ask? Why! Turner and Talna Hipp! The two ordinary farmer coupe who where now running toward the couple of intruders, pitchforks in hands and old fashioned torches. Oh, of course, they would have brought their shotgun with them, but they had forgot it off the isalnd. a shame really.
So, there they were, two ordinary farmers, the male one wearing his red longjohns and his boots, the female one in a night gown with rolls in her hair. They had been sleeping for a while now, since the sun set, to be more precises, when, Talna heard a scream in the night! Or rather, a branch cracking, but she knew that this was one of thier branch that had cracked, which meant that someone was on their property! Which is why she had woken her husband, Turner up! Quickly taking their pitchforks, they ran to greet the intruders, ready to had a couple more holes in their bodies if they didn't turned away now! "Ya were right, pumkin! There are rats in those fields! And like ma mama always says : if you smell a rat, you need to take care of it before all the cheese is gone!" Which, in this occasion, meant stabbing to death the intruding couple. "Now would be a great time fer ya to introduce yerself and leave quickly....unless... you wouldn't like turnips would you? Hey! Talna! Think they like 'em turnips? Cause I sure do, and I know mah wife like 'em turnips too and yer better like 'em, I'll tell you that."

Blond hair done up in rollers and practically shaking from the cold and anger that welled up at seeing someone on their property, Talna Hipp stared dead on at the pair that her husband was speaking to. Of course, it was her place to just stand behind her man and look as pretty as can be while wielding a pitchfork, so she didn't dare to interrupt him when he decided to talk. ..Though, with her hair up in rollers like it was and an obvious scowl making her usually gentle features near-feral, she was probably already failing the roll of 'dainty flower'.. Oh, well! That wasn't important! What was important was that she was looking right in the eyes of a woman. Standing on her property in the middle of the night, done up all pretty like one of those modern women, and obviously eying her husband like some hungry dog – oh, the harpy!
But, Romane probably had that as the last thing on her mind – the redhead was more stunned by the fact that a pair of people she had never heard of existing before that point were.. threatening them with pitchforks. The light of the torches only enhanced the edges of each prong that was pointed threateningly at them both. But, this farm was supposed to be unoccupied! It didn't make sense that anyone would be here! She already had her hand to the hilt of her gun and her eyes carefully placed on the male's while Auguste seemed to try to talk them down – just in case this went bad – but, before she could make any move, a fire was in her face and she reflexively jumped back. The fire hadn't actually touched her, but the sudden flash of light and the heat was enough to frighten anyone – especially Romane. She sent wild eyes over to Talna who's own blue hues narrowed in a stand off the redhead was clueless on. “I see yah gettin' sweet on 'im, missy.” Talna muttered lowly at her, forcing Romane to go to a new level of confusion. ...Sweet? What – but, that just didn't make any sense! How could she get a flavor on some.. 'im', whatever that word was. She opened her mouth to say something, but she couldn't figure out just how to respond to that, which seemed to have been the best course of action as Talna gave out a little huff in satisfaction that she somehow succeeded over the harpy – an idea affirmed when Turner looked to talk to her.
“Mmmhm.” Was her happy agreement before she looked back to the pair, straightening the pitchfork up to dig it slightly into the earth. That thing got heavy after awhile~! She was too delicate to hold it up for long! So, she kept her torch up and stared at the boy as he decided to try and speak. Well, he had been speaking some words, but she didn't listen to any of it because none of what he said had to do with turnips! Damn yankee couldn't even answer a question right! Ah, but, Romane knew that answering any and every question was always the best way to deal with people! That and she had grown used to answering questions a lot with Cid, Suzy, and, especially, Neil. It was somewhat programmed to answer automatically after dealing with those three for a time. Before Talna could yell at Auguste for avoiding the most important question of all, Romane held a hand up.
“I am incapable of answering that as I do not know Mr. Vineyard's personal tastes nor have I ingested a 'turnip'.” ..How many dishes actually used turnips, anyway? If they were anything like a radish, she supposed she may enjoy them, but wasn't it easier and safer in the end to simply buy the radishes like usual? Romane hadn't even thought to variate – ever. And her father hadn't been the sort to do it either, so, yes, there were plenty of things she hadn't tried before – or cared to, for that matter. “I was showing Mr. Vineyard where he may buy his produce as he had recently moved onto the island and did not know the area.” Oh.. Wait. These were new people, weren't they? She thought the farm was empty and.. ah.. Perfect. There went her momentary confidence boost. She frowned at the pair and went on monotonously, “I ask that you lower your weapons as I am an officer of the law and have no intentions on harming unless you prove to be a danger to our persons.”

Turner kept staring at the two trespassers, listening to their insane rambling. An oddball gathering at the spring in the middle of the night? Really, who did they think they were? They wouldn’t even have fooled a four year old with that! Those lies only made the male frown more as Auguste spoke. Trespassing on his property was one thing, thinking he was an idiot was another, but even worst that than, he was completely ignoring his question! THE most impotant question! He hadn’t even answered it! Such a rude personage! ”Stop yer insane rambling, boy! I don’t recall ain’t ever asking you what yer were doing on our land. I asked if you like ‘em turnips. Like Aama always said: When yer a chicken, ya better listen damn well to what the fox has to say.” Oh, Mama. Always so full of wisdom. He turne his head in the direction of the female. She was one of them, eh? Those fille de joi. Oh, that’s right, Romane was totally a whore. Just look at how she was dressed! You could see her elbows! Oh, the vile temptress. ”As fer you missy, you’re our land and you ain’t have no rights to be here, police or not. This land was my pop who got it from his own. Who did she think she was. A queen? Ah! Queen of the whores, maybe. However, when she spoke again, Turner had no choice but to lower his pitchfork, looking at them with the biggest expression of shock that had ever got on his face. He looked at his wife, still looking like a deer in a spotlight. ”Ya ‘ear that Pumpkin? She ain’t ever eaten ‘em turnip… Poor child… POOR CHILD….” How could someone in this world never eat a turnip? How could she still be alive? She must have a deficient in every vitamin and mineral in the world! Because turnips were the principal source of them all!

Erika decided to go with the woman in hopes of meeting with her cousin. That and for the fact that she was scared of being left alone in her house. Yet, she wasn't very comfortable with Talna just yet. On the walk over, the girl had tried to keep a little distance from Talna. Though as she began to see more and more people roam the streets, she inched up to the woman and grabbed onto her sleeve. She didn't trust her, but there wasn't any other choice for her. Erika looked around the roads as they walked in hope of finding her Alt or Reed. But, it didn't look like either were around. She let out a soft whimper as the two continued to walk to Talna's destination.
The young girl's eyes lit up when they reached what seemed like an endless field. It was filled with all kinds of plants and trees! Erika let go of Talna's sleeve and scuttled over to some of the taller plants. She loved anything green really. It was her favorite color. "This is a farm!" The girl spoke back towards Talna, with a big smile. She said it as if she was answering a tough question and she new the answer. She always saw them in books, but this was the first time she ever saw one. It was big, and spacious, and green! Really green! Erika was usually happy just to see one in a picture book. However now, she was actually at one! She couldn't wait to tell Alt and her dad.

Talna came to the farm mere seconds after Erika dashed up to it, surprised that the child had forgotten her apparent nervousness in favor of some of the chili peppers they were growing in the field. She lifted her eyes from the child for a brief moment to scan the field, not seeing anything that she was looking for. The kids were all either at the daycare or inside; it was hard to tell what NPC children did in their spare time! But, Talna's maternal sense weren't tingling or anything silly like that, so she was sure they were safe wherever they were hiding. Her attention returned completely to Erika as she came to a stop a little behind the girl, smiling softly at the child's enthusiasm. How cute! Maybe Erika was more destined to be a little farmer rather than a housewife? ..Oh, nonsense, she was still so quiet and cute! One little bout of energy from some chili plants didn't change the whole walk over!
“Why, yes, it is, turnip.” She replied with a proud nod as her hands went to her hips, “This here is Turner n' me's farmland. All those veggies ya'll eat from the general store? That came down from us! We're mighty proud of our vegetables.” She added with a confident nod to emphasize that, “Ya can pick one of them peppers and take a bite if ya want, Erika. They ought ta be ripe by now.” And probably the best tasting peppers the girl had eaten~! She turned slightly from the child to allow her to contemplate that while her green hues scanned the surroundings. Where was that dog? She let out a breath before putting her fingers to her lips and giving out a shrill whistle to call the canine to her.

Erika's smile grew wider when Talna told her she could try one of the vegetables. She crouched down and wrapped one of her hands around one of the redder peppers. She grasped and pulled it from its stem and stumbled back a bit when it snapped. She was excited to taste something new. Erika was never a picky eater. She ate whatever her guardians put in front of her. Which would usually get her in trouble when she was out on walks with Alt. He always made her try to eat weird plants. But vegetables were different! They were always tasty. Erika opened her mouth to take a bite, however instead of the sting of a pepper, another sharp pain filled her mouth. When Talna had whistled for the dog, the girl became startled and bit down onto her tongue. Her eyes began to water, and she sniffed as if trying to hold back a cry. She opened her mouth once more and bit the pepper. The spiciness only making her want to cry more.

It didn't take long for a little beagle to come running from one of the edges of the field, having been patrolling their cow like a good little dog ought to do when their masters are away. Talna smiled as she saw the animal come as loyal to the command as ever as she looked back over to Erika – to find her eyes watering! She gasped and creased her brow; did something happen? She wasn't really looking at the child when she called for Nabo, but.. Oh. Talna's eyes caught sight of the skewed chili plant, one of the large, red peppers inside the little girl's hands.
“My – ya don't handle spices too well now, do ya?” She said with amusement plain on her tone as she approached the girl, kneeling just as Nabo ended his run beside Talna, letting off a bark to show his arrival. She gave a small pat to the dog's head so he knew she was aware of him before she put her attention back onto Erika, “Well, ya didn't take too big of a bite, turnip,” She said as she tugged the pepper from the girl's hands and examined how much was missing, standing back up in the same motion. “Stay right on down there, Erika..” She walked by along the field, looking over the vegetables and such planted as she did in search of something and, of course, dropping the chili pepper into the shipping bin as she went. Well, it was just a nibble! She doubted the shipping man actually looked at each individual shipment!
She crossed into the field when she spotted the strawberry plants, leaning over to take one of the little red berries before heading back to the girl. She held it out to her, “This'll help with that spice. Ya can eat it on the way.” She instructed before turning off to Nabo, who had been sitting dutifully next to the girls the entire time. “Ya ready, pup? We're gonna go track us a boy! Take a whiff of little turnip 'ere..” She took him by the collar and pulled him over to the child, guiding his nose into her shirt after a muttered command. It didn't take long for him to pick up on what was going on and, with a deep sniff of Erika's shirt, he turned and started to sniff the air, ground, and just all around them in concentration. Now all they needed was to lead him around; he'd find the scent and then they could drag Erika's cousin off like they should have from the start. “Just stay beside me, turnip, we'll find yer cousin." With that said, she headed off to wherever the dog lead them~
