The year is 2281.
204 years ago there was a great war. It lasted two hours and managed to destroy most of the life on this damn planet. Some people survived, hiding in vaults or became ghouls on the surface. There are those that didn't even survive in the vaults and were forced into super mutanthood or made to undergo ungodly experiments against their will.
A century ago people started leaving the vaults, making the world theirs again. The planet was barren and full of beasts like deathclaws and cazadors.
Four years ago some kid from Vault 101 and her dad, James gave the East pure water in the Patomic, destroyed the Enclave, and with the help of the Brotherhood of Steel took a bite of the super mutant population. And just this year, the NCR defeated the Legion at Hoover Dam.
Things seem to be looking up, but with remnants of both the Enclave and Legion running around the country and the usual terrors of the wastes like supermutants, deathclaws, and raiders still there maybe I'm speaking too soon.
