I love driving. I learned how to drive in Los Angeles, one of the worst cities in the country to deal with in terms of traffic and s**t like that, so I had to learn a lot of things all at once and quickly. I got my permit at 17, and got my license at 18. I took driver's ed through online classes, lol. Then for the actual driving part of my training I got to practice with this super cool guy named Gene.

My car means a lot to me. Knowing that I have the ability to drive anywhere and go places at anytime is a very liberating feeling for me. And yeah, paying for gas and car repairs is a pain, but it's worth it to me, for that taste of freedom I get when I'm in control of my route and get to choose where and when I can go without waiting on a bus or my parents.

So what's your take on driving/cars/motorcycles/things of that nature? Do you enjoy driving or hate it? What kind of car do you have? Are you a careful driver or do you have a couple of accidents on your record? If you're still too young and haven't learned how to drive yet, is it something you're looking forward to or dreading?

Driving was terrifying... the concept frightened me.

I did driver-ed in school and got high credit for the class... I would have gotten distinction had I not pooped my figurative pants during the actual driving bit and been too scared to go faster than 5kph.

I was a good driver in theory... I knew all the rules and passed the written exams well.

Where I live we have a 'hazard perception test' which is basically a monitor that shows footage of different hazard situations as if you are driving the car during them and you are expected to press a button when you are meant to stop or something... but the technology is so clunky and outdated, lots of people have difficulty passing the test.

I managed to fairly well... but only due to having driven for four years on my learner permit.

I actually held my learner permit for 10 years before moving to probationary. Learners in Australia must sit with a licensed driver in the front seat beside them at all times, which is a pain in the a**... you move onto probationary after that and then onto a full license after 3-4 years in my state.

I love driving, I could drive all day and be fine... but my car is unfortunately recently deceased so I can't drive anywhere. *weeps openly*

I don't drive. It scares me, and I don't think I should anyways seeing as I sometimes have depth perception issues and am easily disctracted. sweatdrop
Having my dad or whoever drive me is just fine with me. I don't go out much anyways. User Image

i enjoyed motorcycling. Car driving was ok. I haven't done either in over 15 years now. I haven't figured it lately, but i'm sure i save over 100 bux a month by bicycling everywhere.

lmao. I absolutely hate driving, It's scary and when it's not scary it's super duper boring. I'm so so envious of cities with amazing rail systems.
I'm a good safe driver, but I hate it. burning_eyes I put it off for years until finally my mom pressured me into it. I'm 19 but I still won't touch the freeway. I also have a terrible sense of direction. Despite living in the same town all my life I don't know my way around at all. LOL I can't commit street names to memory either so when people give me oral directions I'm like - SAY WHAT?
I have paths through the city that I take, it's a huge terrible adventure when I have to go some place new and can't use one of my paths.

My automobile is like a 96 saturn or something. It runs well but it stinks so bad inside. I got it free from my grandpa, who along with my grandma smoked all the time inside. The smell will not leave. gonk

I like driving because I can sing in the car and no one will hear me XD.

When I had my permit, My dad totaled our suburban with everyone in it, and i didn't drive for a while after that. I got my license late. I do like it though, except when there is bad weather

I am only 16, so I don't own a car of my own because I'm too young to have a lisence, however I do have a few things to say about it. I don't want to drive a car to be honest. For some reason the fumes and everything make my asthma go crazy. And I have a phobia of car crashing, expecially since my mom's first husband died in a car crash and my dad got seriously injured in one.
However, I love the Toyota Celica which is my dad's car. Its the only car I have ever wanted to drive. I can't remember what mark it is, but it was only released in Japan or something and got imported over here. (The proof to it being imported is that the intructions to the car and everything in the car is in Japanese.) emo Shame its dead as a dodo and is going to be scrapped soon.

Also one thing that puts me off is that insurance for a person under 21 is in its thousands, and the price of women's insurance is going up. mad For no reason other than the government feels that they should charge more for insurance. I just ask, why only female insurance?

However, in contrast to me hating cars, I love motorbikes. But I don't want one because I know how dangerous they are. When I was really young there was a car accident on the road with a motor biker and his helmet was found miles ahead of his body with his head still inside.
His. Head. Still. Inside. gonk
The crash had detatched his head from his body. I was in a car right by the scene at the time. Not nice to see when you're that young.

i'm not a female or work at insurance companies so i don't know why rates are going up for females. maybe females are starting to be more dangerous on the road in terms of causing accidents rather than being in it? the insurance companies are pretty biased, my insurance is high because i drive a two-door sports car, but i haven't caused or been in any accidents. i know teens are prone to accidents so it's high insurance on teens.

i know for sure the some female drivers in my area are terrible, one hit me from behind during stop-and-go traffic while my and everyone else's cars were stopped, and there were times where i would almost hit a car because the girl would either not pay attention and just jump in my lane without considering how close i am to her or they're just dangerously in the way

also ouch, that sucks that you had to see that and also have bad luck with your family's driving history

Depth perception shouldn't be an issue... I only see with one eye, and I still qualified for my license... it just took a little more practice, but you get the hang of it!

No way! Or VVhip is half-blind?
LOL, I didn't know that about you ^_^;
Were you born with a "bad" eye, or did you lose vision or what?

Anyways... I don't have a license, permit or anything.
I haven't driven, and don't want to.
I only get a small amount of money a month,
so I couldn't afford anything having to do with a car
(insurance, gas, repairs, or a car itself).
I also space out A LOT, so not a good driving trait.

Baby, I was born that way ;D

Cars are sooooo expensive to own! Useful when you work out of town, but yeah... very pricey when they screw up!

      I love driving. o3o;
Got my permit at 15 and license at 16.

I'm a pretty safe driver when I have a passenger, I put their safety before mine.

BUT I have road rage and I like to speed and yell at other drivers. ;x (Inside my own car,of course. I'm not the person who gets out and tries to start a fight.) I like to rush wherever I'm going and slow drivers piss me the heck off! D<

      Like I said,though, I'm safe even though I'm a vicious driver. xD
      Never been in a wreck.

That'd be okay, I guess . But I'd still get distracted a lot. And people aren't trustworthy on the road here, especially tourists.
I myself have near-sighted vision in one eye and far-sighted in the other. ;D User Image

I hate driving ANYTHING.

I always end up hurting someone, or hurting myself.

First time on a quad: Leg ran over.
Second time: Almost flipped it.
First time on a motorcycle: Hit a parked car.
Second time: Flipped over the handle bars and ******** got road burn. gonk
First time on go kart: Breaks were shot.... uncle had to stop it. XD
Second time: Breaks shot AGAIN, almost ran into a huge a** wooden fence with nails protruding.

Last incident was scary as ********. I was with my best friend, and she likes to mess with people. So when I saw HER freak... All went to hell until we lost a wheel and dug in to the ground. gonk
The above is as close to driving a car as I can get. Only drove it once, and that was at only a few feet. I was way too freaked out. XD

I decided I'm going to buy a horse and ride that around to work, school, and clubs.
