Time sure does fly, you know, but not always when you're having fun. Stuff happens and you get so tied up on one thing that sometimes, it feels out of control. I know this, because I've lived it.
So much has happened since I joined Gaia about two or so years ago, and from good to bad, I always had someone to talk to. People here are amazing, especially the ones I meet through Christian guilds and other roleplay guilds I've joined. I might not be the most "active", perhaps, but I'm still here.
Really, a lot has happened. One of the first things that comes to mind right now is the silly little thing I've been telling myself. "I wish my life was a bit more... exciting, adventurous, you know?" and I have asked God about it, but now... I truly see...
My life is exciting. Maybe not to my own eyes for a little while, but definitely exciting. I take a look at the adventure books and anime and all that fictional stuff and ask, "Why can't I have a life like theirs?" when... I've already experienced it.
Those characters may look like they're having the time of their life, but... maybe that's not what they feel. In these fictional stories woven by authors and animators all around, we see the story as "epic", "fun", and "exciting". What really makes it exciting for us is all the tragedy woven into the mix.
We've all experienced that same thing before, this "tragedy". At least I've had my share of it. I really didn't see it until now. My illness, my sense of loss at times, my longing for love... It's all part of my own story: a story written by God Himself. My story had comedy, laughter, and fun, but there is some sorrow, pain, and loss mixed in.
My family and my friends give my story the life it needs to be uplifting.
The things life throws at me make my story believable, realistic.
God makes it supernatural, strange.
So maybe I don't want what I think is exciting. Maybe becoming the star character of your favorite story isn't such a good idea. We have enough excitement right here, in our own stories.
God isn't finished with His novel of life, oh no. For those longing to see the blurred image of their soulmate, He's getting there. For those suffering through illness, death of a loved one, or any other pain, He's yet to give that relief, either humorous or not. For those waiting for something to happen, He's still writing away.
Our book doesn't end. Our story doesn't end at death. God continues on, forever and ever.
