There were many curious things to be found in the dark, at least that was what Jaki thought about the night. You could see things that weren't there in the daylight. Tonight had been particularly disappointing. His mother had visited and he could not even say that he was glad for the moment of being able to pretend to be a normal family because his siblings had wrecked the whole thing once more by getting into a large fight that had to be broken up by his surrogate father. After that mother hadn't really wanted to stay around. She erred on the side of flight and after a couple of minutes, she had gone and so had Jaki. It was not easy to slip past the watchful eyes of the one that took care of him, but despite that fact, he did it anyway.
Now he sat outside in the cold night air, gazing around the grass and trees and sky, looking for anything interesting to be seen.

Kijo was investigating. Her father come home the previous night bragging about a prized picture he had stolen from some human mansion somewhere, and she had wanted to see if there was anything else worth taking there.
She was taking a shortcut through the woods, when she noticed a small kit a few feet in front of her that had been almost invisible due to his pitch black coat. She managed to control her surprise, and decided she would reproach him for irritating her.
She glared at the small kit out of the corner of her eye as she walked past, speaking in her deep alto voice. "You shouldn't be out, child. There are things in this forest that would eat you without a second thought."

Had he not been enjoying himself so immensely, Jaki might have noticed the other kitsune that approached him. Especially with such bright markings on her coat. Those marks certainly were a very bright red color against that very light, almost silver, gray. Jaki looked up at the older kitsune, his cool gray eyes following her every move. How typical this adult was. "Tch..." Huffed the kit under his breath before looking away from her and back toward a tree where a bunch of bats had began to set off for the nightly hunt. He was hoping that if he ignored her that she would just go away. But that probably wasn't going to happen. Adults didn't just go away when they thought they were right. Or when they thought that they had you cornered. Or when you just wanted them to shut up already because you were tired of listening to their lectures that didn't apply to you.
"So?" Retorted the small black kit, turning his eyes away from the bats again. "What's you're point? Everything needs food and if I'm stupid enough to get caught then I guess I deserved it, didn't I? Is that all you had to say? Are you done talking now? Because despite the fact that it's rude not to speak when spoken to, I'm not suppose to talk to strangers."

Despite the fact that she actually kind of liked this kit's attitude, he would've deserved it it he was that stupid, but the fact that just had to sass her back set her off.
Her fur stood on end and she took a menacing stance, splaying her paws and flicking her tail wildly.
"If you understand that you deserve to be eaten if you're caught, then you'll understand that you'll deserve anything I do to you if you keep back talking to me like the brat you are!"
She didn't really know what she was going to do. She was really angry with this kit, but she wasn't the fighter of the family. She usually got Akki or Ashura to beat up anyone she was angry with, but they weren't around. Hopefully he would just back off and be scared, and she could walk off and continue on her way.

Any other kit would have been scared out of their mind that an older kitsune was threatening them in such a way, but there weren't many things in like that scared Jaki. In fact, there wasn't a single thing that he could name that frightened him aside from the wrath of his caregiver. Jaki simply rolled his eyes."What's the matter onē-san," Mocked the kit. "Can't handle an intelligent conversation without having to resort to violence? Everyone knows that if you're stupid enough to get caught you deserve it and everyone also knows that you're not to talk to strangers."
He sat up now, a sly sort of smile on his face. "But if that's how you feel, and I can't say that I disagree with you onē-san. If I talk back to you, I might deserve whatever you intend to do to me. But I'll only deserve it if you can catch me." The small male huffed. "But I don't intend to let you catch me, so save us some trouble and quit while we're both a head." Jaki lived close by, so even though Kijo might have size advantage over him, he knew the terrain far better than she did.

Chase. Kijo HATED chase. Akki had always loved to play chase when they were younger, and she would always hide behind her mother or father so he would leave her alone and go bother Ashura until he snapped.
But hey, if the kit was willing to run away from her, that was fine with her. The way this kit was talking to her was making her sick and she wanted to be done with this as soon as possible while loosing as little dignity as she could manage.
She kept up her stance, her facade of utter rage and yelled once more at the kit standing so insolently before her.
"Then run, you insolent piece of s**t, run as fast as you can and try to live!"
She began forming a ball of fox fire in front of her mouth, aiming a little above his head. If he was fast enough, he would dodge. If not, he would loose a chunk of his ear, not enough damage to cause any large amount of retribution from the parents.
She sent the fire fox shooting off with a blast from her vocal chords, watching the kit closely to see where he would run off to.

This child may have well had little regards for his own life because he simply shook his head. This was just like an adult too. So powerful until they lost their tempers. Then they were no better than the kits that they were trying to raise. He knew what was coming. It was something that he had seen before from another adult. It was different though, but he wasn't going to stick around in that same spot to find out just what was so different about it. Quick as a flash the little kit darted off the the side of Kijo and sat down defiantly, of course some of his fur was a little singed, but he wasn't any worse for wear. "Temper, temper onē-san." Laughed the small kit as the ground where he had previously sat lay scorched and fizzling a bit. He raised a brow and watched her, his little body tense in case she struck again. "You done yet?"

This kit was strange. This should be irritating the s**t out of her, but she loved his comebacks.
What should she do?
The family fighting instincts were floating around at the back of her mind, kick out at him with her hindpaws, that's what Ashura would do.
The family pride was demanding she keep up her facade of anger and chase this kit off.
But she didn't want to. She didn't want to at all. She liked this kit's will, maybe... maybe she wanted it for herself? She wasn't sure yet. She wasn't sure what to think at all.
She sat down across from this child, lowering her head a little to get closer to his level, her ears perking up. "So what if I am done? What would you do?"

Slowly he relaxed a little bit, his own ears perking at the sound of her voice. Another sly smile slide across his muzzle. "I suppose I would congratulate you, onē-san." He stared at her, his eyes unblinking, as if he did not yet trust the fact that she was done. "I'd congratulate you for having some smarts. It really is stupid to let every little thing rile you up so..." Life was sort. Supposedly. He had yet to see if that was really true or not. "...So, onē-san, what's your name?"

She twitched her ears in irritation, but not in irritation at the child. "It's hard not to be 'stupid' when you're taught to lord your power over others."
She gave a small muted chuckle. "My name is Kijo. And yours?"
((Sorry, I tried all day to think of something to make it longer, but I just can't think of any good content. Dx))

((That's okay. Sometimes very little needs to be said. And it's just one of those RPs. So it's cool. One liners and s**t are acceptable.))
He didn't really understand just what it was that she meant by that, he didn't have that sort of problem. Maybe it just wasn't for him to know. The jet black kit relaxed completely now and settled himself down comfortably. "Kijo... Interesting name. I'm Jaki." At this moment his curiosity was itching. What had she meant by that? "What did you mean by that? 'It's hard not to be stupid when you're taught to lord your power over others'?" He cocked his head to the side, his ears pricked in her direction.

She gave a delighted grin at Jaki's compliment. "It means ogress or witch. I rather like my name, and I like yours too."
She wondered how much about her family she should tell this kit. He was just a child, it couldn't hurt too much to tell him.
"My parents taught me and my siblings that we are better than everyone else, that we shouldn't tolerate other kits' insolence, that we should always dominate and come out on top. I personally think it's too much work, especially when there are better ways to go about it."
She thought about asking the kit about his family in return, but it wasn't that big a deal to her. If he told her, she would listen; if not, she didn't really mind enough to ask.

"Mine...?" A frown pulled at his maw. He didn't think there was anything so interesting or nice about his name. As for what it meant, he didn't know. He wasn't his mother and so how he had come to this name and why were completely lost on him. "I can't see why." Jaki scratched behind his ear now, listening to what she had to say before pausing.
"That sounds really stupid. What good is lording your power over everyone else? The world would be better for it if everyone just went about their own business." Huffed the male kit, his gray eyes gleaming with irritation. He hated it when kits thought they were better than you just because they were strong. Nature was the only one to decide that, from the last he heard, and even the strongest person is nothing in her face. "Sounds like you live with a bunch of morons to me."

"It just sounds nice to my ears, I suppose."
She let out a bark of laughter. "'Moron' couldn't more appropriate for my older brother. Though, my younger brother doesn't lash out very often, and he definitely doesn't lord. In fact, he follows your ideal of minding his own business. My parents... My mother is never around, she's always doing what she pleases, but my father is the one that hounds that ideal. So, I suppose I do live with a bunch of morons."
Kijo laid her ears back flat against her head, deep in thought.
"I suppose... I do live with a bunch of morons. Maybe it's time to leave. How odd, meeting you tonight and deciding this. Maybe it's fate, maybe it's not. Either way, I suppose I owe a lot to you, Jaki."
