I will not lie. I am a necromancer. So I'm a little biased on this point. That being said:
Was anyone else as dissapointed as I was with the Mage's Guild arc. At first I was excited for the chance to face Mannimarco, King of Worms, but when it actually came down to it he died rather pathetically... I suppose it didn't help that my character was a Mage-killer.(spell absorbtion/reflection/resistance out the wazoo) Then after the whole thing I started to really think that he deserved his own game... Or maybe an expansion pack of his own at least.

When I fought him he didn't even attack me, all he tried to do was use the control spell he has. Bethesda could have taken a lot of information from the Warp In The West and done a lot more with the Mage's Guild arc.

He ended the conversation and I used a custom fire touch spell on him. One hit kill. I was disappointed. Also, I don't think Conjuring=Necromancy. If that were the case then me and my level 100 conjuring self would have been kicked out of the mages' guild in a heartbeat.

As Mannimarco stopped the spell holding me, he walked backwards away from me, then got stuck in fromt of a chest and couldn't move back anymore. I ran up and Sparta-kicked him (Well, no. But a spell that does Paralyze/HP absorb/Lightning Damage does the trick) and he was like "NOOOOOO" then died. I picked him up, running through the caves screaming "This is mine, I own it now" and some Necros were like "Can I have it" and I told them "NO! F#$% OFF!!!!!.
Anyway, I heard he leik'd mudkips.

I'm generally not fond of mages - well, except for one, but that's another game entirely.
A whole game for this one character (does he have a lot of backstory or something that I just missed?) seems a bit excessive. Perhaps an expansion pack would be better - kind of like Leliana's Song from DAO.
Then again, I'd rather see an expansion delving through the past of Lucien Lachance so I maybe biased as all hell as well.

He went toe to toe with the Underking, became a god (though was later deposed by Akatosh), and played a pivitol role in the history of the mages guild, ie: destroying it's first Archmage. He is also the first recorded Lich and Founder of the School of Necromancy. He is worshiped by the Sload as the God of Worms. There is a crap ton of reason to give him his own game...

I poked in here and noticed this thread so I thought it would be funny to commit some thread necromancy on a thread about necromancy. Blaze the Fire Dragon He ended the conversation and I used a custom fire touch spell on him. One hit kill. I was disappointed. Also, I don't think Conjuring=Necromancy. If that were the case then me and my level 100 conjuring self would have been kicked out of the mages' guild in a heartbeat. There's actually a book in oblivion defending necromancy that touches on this topic. Necromancy is less of a dedicated school and more of a smattering of spells from every school. Soul Trap from Mysticism, the drain spells from Restoration ala Oblivion, summon Undead spells from conjuration (stupid imo), even damage health spells from destruction. Supinelu Well, sorry. I didn't know :0 I apologize. I count myself as a Necromancer, and I think we are much maligned and not all as bad as people think. I just think that Mannimarco got screwed, though on reflection I don't think that the man we fought in Oblivion was really Mannimarco. I think he was an accomplished Necromancer who bit off more than he could chew. The real King of Worms would not be so easily killed... ( I hope...)

I do so love irony ;p Eh...I'm a thief by trade generally so we appear to be in a similar boat. I do like the shinies though, I will say, but that's not really a negative stereotype. It's a compliment. I have...discriminating taste. I am not sure how that one translates to necromancy though. I've never really played that way, except from raising some spirits every now and then. Usually by accident.

Yeah, although I don't consider conjuring as necromancy what about the summoning of zombies, skeletons, ghosts, zombies, and wraiths? Although almost everyone in Tamriel hates necromancy these summon spells can be found in magic shops and even the mages' guild itself. Kind of contradictory.

Consider the notion that you are a warrior, and that you are facing not only warriors but undead as well. That is scary, no? Now consider that when you cut one of the warriors down they rise again as an undead. Now consider further that as your own brethren die around you, cut down by the stinking horde, that they too rise to fight against you! This would be an unimaginable terror. It would be so demoralizing that one would with this power would win a battle even before taking the field. It's a perfect combination of Sun Tzu and Machiavelli. Further there is the life preserving and extending powers associated with Necromancy too.

Personally I would just consider that tiresome but I'm sure the god/whathaveyou fearing bunch would be running in terror :3 I prefer stealth in large part because of situations like that. Rather than be chased around by a horde of foul smelling corpses I'd rather just put a well aimed arrow in my enemy. One person can be as equally terrifying as an entire army if you never see them. My philosophy anyway.
