Dealing with all things related to fighting games, this thread will serve as the hub for all of your fighting game conversations. This thread spans any game you like. From the first Street Fighter to the most recent Marvel vs Capcom 3. If you like to talk about stories or interesting fights, they also go in here.
Useful terms
Fighting games have a lot of different terms in which some people sometimes get lost in. Here are some simple ones you should know.
DP - Dragon Punch
Originating from Street Fighter, DP refers to the input needed from the joystick in order to pull off Ryu's and Ken's Shoryuken.
QCF, QCB, HCF, HCB, 236, 214, 41236, 63214, etc.
These abbreviations refer to joystick movements. Quarter Circle Forward, Half Circle Forward, and so on and so forth. This simplifies moves you want to say. The numbers correspond to the number pad on your Keyboard. 5 refers to neutral stances.
A, B, C, D, LP, HP, LK, HK, etc.
All fighting games have different button layouts. Back in the times of Street Fighter the button layout usually followed the idea of varying punch and kick strengths i.e. Low Punch (LP), High Kick (HK). Recently, they have adopted a more simplified system where four buttons are considered the differing strengths i.e. A (Low) B (Med) C (High) D (Special). Specials vary from game to game. Example: Blazblue, D is the character's Drive. MvC 3 D is the character's Launcher special.
Hopefully this thread thrives with awesome stories.
Edit: Terms will be updated when requested.
