Just a topic to see who goes to anime conventions. This year will be my third time going to Animazement. It is in Raleigh, NC. It is so much fun.
They even have new mangas that people are putting out. They give you free buttons ^.^
I hope to go to AWA (Anime Weekend Atlanta) They hold it in September, right around my birthday.
Have you ever been to a con? Do you want to go?

Actually, I've never been to one. I have a friend who has though. Also, once I saw this HUGE group of cosplayers all partying at the beach. But I'm not sure of the exact definition of a con. What are they like?

Lots of fun. Almost everyone cosplays. They have voice actors, and manga creators come. All kinds of panels, concerts, raves. They are fantastic. You should really go. The group of cosplayers you saw were probably in between cons. They tend to get together, when not going to cons.
BTW I love your avi. ^.^

To be frank, I don't know if I'd have the guts to dress up and go out in public where there are tons of other people all dressed up. I like to watch cosplayers (I watched one girl dressed as Rin Kagamine re-enact Regret Message and that was cool to see) and enjoy anime and manga, but to be honest the idea of seriously going to a con kinda freaks me out. I guess I'd have to have really good friends come with me. sweatdrop

Going to Fanime 2011. It's kinda sad that i've been a avid fan of anime/manga for almost 5 years, and also recently becoming a full-fledged otaku,I haven't been to a con yet. =w= It's just depressing... -snivel-

No one cares what you look like or anything, Most of the time, they just want pictures of you lol Going with a group of friends is a lot better the on your own. I go with about 4-5 every year. I have never had any issues with other people. They are always nice, even the ones who are normal city folk lol They are use to us by now, because the con has been going on years.

Have you ever been to a con? Do you want to go? actually i plan to go to a con sometime in june, crossplaying as Len Kagamine. (im a girl, mind you.) 3nodding All i need to know if i should make my own, or buy one off the net- and if my friend's mother is willing to take her, me, and another friend. It would be my first time going to a MAJOR anime convention (its gonna last two days), but i went to two small local comicconventions before, but they were super small and mostly filled with people who are fans of american online comics. But they were still really fun- the people are so nice and social! biggrin i've only met one cosplayer in person- they were a soul reaper from bleach. biggrin

I want to go to one in Boston! i remember talking to a parent volunteer at the book fair at my school and a friend of mine was buying a few ShonenJump mags. she mentioned about going to a hotel, and an anime con was going on. then i bursted with laughter about how i always wanted to go to one. sweatdrop

Oh mah gawd, I want to go so bad! But alas, I do not know where or when a con will be in my area. Or if so then it is in the next town and I do not have transportation.
Also....it's a bit embarrassing. > 3 > I'd have to tell my parents about where I'm going and they'll like.... stare at me... My dad thinks that my sister's friend is weird because she made a costume out of the character from Assassin's Creed and wore it at our house one day. *sigh* I'm not into cosplay anyway, I don't like dressing up as a character unless I have a chainsaw or something.
I bet cons are sooo fun though. >w<
