Roleplay Rules

o. Keep all posts in this subforum in character.
o. Keep the Drama and the Llamas in the roleplay.
o. No godmodding or powerplaying, etc.
o. Please stay away from the Mary Sue type characters.
o. Do not RP as a Final Fantasy cannon character - you are not one.
o. Keep human/exploration/ranch RPs and wild RPs seperate. Both can earn points towards racing.
o. Your chocobo does not need to be a ranch kept chocobo in RP to participate in races in thread.
o, Roleplays that cross between farm and forest should be posted in the starting area. If there is a RP in either forum that relates to the other, any birds/humans can join in as appropriate regardless of which forum it is.

Roleplay Conduct and Details
You may play as either your chocobos, a character in the Final Fantasy 'verse or both. As a chocobo owner, you will likely be either very well off or in a profesion that has you working around these birds. The world is slowly being converted from Mako energy to other rescources and chocobo power is becoming popular. Therefore most people have interactions with chocobos but likely don't own one. Anyone who would own one is either very into the birds, uses them in thier business, or travels a lot.
As a chocobo alone you will either be kept on a ranch, or living in the wild. Wild chocobos have a vast range of temperments in regards to humans. Some will be fearful and keep to themselves, some will go so far as to want to be put into a harness and kept. A chocobo on a ranch will still have a wide range of personalities but will generally be a minimum of tolerant of thier keepers unless they are still being broken in or were abused.

Chocobos can understand about as much of human language as a smart dog or a bird. It will likely know 300-500 words, and simple commands will be easy but to humans they are still animals.
Chocobos themselves, however are highly intellegent and shy. They are extremely tolerant of humans and creatures that do not show aggresion towards them. They can communicate with most other beasts (moogles, summons/aeons, monsters etc.), but humans and natural animals (such as dogs and cats) are beyond thier capabilities.

Chocobos are herd/flock creatures. A tame group is frequently refered to as a herd while a wild is a flock. Flocks are shy and like to stick to the forests near thier region. In a herd, a chocobo recognizes those with permission to handle it and will not come to another's call so keeping groups of them together without branding is easy.

Roleplay Locations

Thanks to Caves of Narshe for the image

The Gold Saucer
A giant casino and amusement park located in the middle of a desert and only accessable by a free gondola ride from Mt. Corel. A place of wealth, they are also famous for thier thrilling battle game and - of course - chocobo races. Every official race is held here.

The Chocobo Farm
The chocobo farm is a quaint little place out in the plains by midgar. They have a significant ranch and stable, and are the chiefs around these parts about owning, breeding, feeding and riding chocobos. While most of thier chocobos are used for work purposes, with the recent rise in the popularity of chocobo racing, they have started catering to a more specific audience breeding chocobos for speed, smarts and looks rather then work. The farm is run by an old man called Chocobo Bill, and his two children, Choco Billy and Chole.

Midgar
The biggest powerhouse and city in the world, this place is always dark and lit up with bright lights. This is the home of Shin'Ra Inc., a company that does everything from space ships and cars to powering houses and industry - and is the only company that does any of those things. Thier biggest focus is on weaponry, however. Half of Midgar is beneath a giant metal plate. Those are the slums and are always in poverty while those who live on top of the plate bask in the glory of having a high-class life, likely working for Shin'Ra.

Mt. Corel
Mt Corel used to be a mining town built around a reactor that Shin'Ra built. However, the magical Mako energy the reactor produced dried up and left the town in massive poverty. Most of the miners still live there, eeking out a hardscrabble living selling items of modest value to tourists come to take the gondola to the Gold Saucer.

Corel Desert Prison
A prison located at the base of the giant tower known as the Gold Saucer. While it is surrounded by a fence, the fence is full of gaps and holes because the location is a natural prison surrounded by desert and quicksand as far as the eyes can see. Most who end up there go mad. There is only one way out - up the tower that looms above to prison and to a Chocobo race that they must win. However, the Gold Saucer employs some extremely good racers to prevent just those people from winning. It takes a lot of skill to escape from Corel Prison.

Costa Del Sol
A beach resort inbetween the continents that host Midgar and the Gold Saucer. A luxirous place with sunny beaches, warm oceans and girls in bikinis and flowers all around. A massively expensive place to live if you can even find someone selling a house! However, many rich people do take long stays here, and some very famous chocobo racers live here.

Junon
A large military-based city across the ocean from Costa Del Sol, Junon has a small impovrished village below it and a massive city of middle class and soldiers above. Many tall buldings line the streets of this proud city, and a giant cannon - as well as many other weapons - offer the city extreme protection from almost anything that comes it's way. Almost everyone who lives there is a soldier or the familly of one, but there are many who simply run local businesses.

Icicle Village
A tiny town on the northern continent. They are famous for thier natural landscape. The have a great ski course that leads into a beautiful park with a hot spring in it. Just be careful not to get lost! A popular resort town for those who don't like the heat in Costa Del Sol.

Bone Village
A small and starnge town on the edge of a forest. Really just a glorified excavation site, the people there live in houses built around giant skelletons of dead creatures and spend thier days peacfully digging things out of the ground. They're on the edge of a sacred forest that any who enter without the sacred Lunar Harp get lost in forever.

Cosmo Canyon
A mid-sized town of people who combine thier knowledge and worship of nature with technology to best preserve the planet. Heavy with native-american influence the people here seek wisdom from nature and the world around them to grow and influence the planet in positive ways. The area around them is a rocky and beautiful canyon landscape.

Mideel
Another resort town, this one located far to the south. It used to be a woderful place to retire before the lifestream floods hit, but that have since re-built it. Still covered with the fear of Mako poisioning from the Lifestream, it's fallen on some rougher times, but still has some un-tarnished hot springs and a nice mild climate as well as an abundance of wildlife from the near-by jungles. There also seems to be a small host of white chocobos living in the area since the lifestream hit. Hmm.

Wutai
Wutai is much like Japan not long after Hirsohima. The country is small with heavy japanese and chinese influence on it. It used to have a deep rich culture founded in fudelistic ideals and was ruled by an emperor. After being throughly defeated by Shin'Ra in the Wutai War, they are now mostly an interesting tourist attraction, fighting to regain thier honor and spirituality after loosing almost every aspect of thier culture.

Wild areas
While there are some small towns scattered about, most of the world is wild. Monsters and animals are everywhere. Chocobos exist all across this world, but prefer to stay to thier forests. They live in all climates and areas across the world. Chocobos can be roleplayed as wild if you choose as long as they have a wild background. It's in wild areas like these that greens and nuts grow in abundance... But be careful when exploring! Chocobos are territorial creatures and monsters lurk around every bend!
