So we are listening to Día de enero by Shakira in my class, and this one particular line has always confused me. I get what it means literally, but I don´t understand what it means metaphorically. confused (if that makes any sense at all) the line is underlined.

ya vas a ver como va
la misma vida decantar la sal que sobra en el mar.

Is that an idiomatic phrase or something? or is there a meaning I´m just missing? confused

"The same life to decant the salt that goes over the seas."
I could be wrong, but if you take the surrounding lyrics, it sounds like it's saying "We all live the same life, you'll see how it is."

I guess it means that the salt is the "bad" things he had in his life, scars and that stuff... As in the sea (when life is passing by), all that salt goes down, so we all can see a clear sea instead of a dirty sea.
