Welcome to Show-Downs. Here, you can face against your fellow guild members in numerous ways. There will be two forms of play for now, web-cam and "trust" games. There are very different rules for both, so please read and understand these rules.

Rules for all modes of play:

Some form of messenger is required to allow the games to be played. This is to keep the game moving more swiftly. If you do not want to share your e-mail, then don't. This is only for fun, you should be comfortable when having fun.

PM your opponent to set up a game, the list of opponents interested in playing will be in the topic "The Competition".

Both players have to accept the format (Type 2, Legacy, ect). This way, the game is as fair as possible for both sides. They will also have to agree on the terms (best 2 of 3 and the sort).

Every action must be okayed by the opposistion, including mulligan (mulligan cannot be stopped, but must be told to opposition). This way, both sides know what is going on to keep track.

Rules for Web-Cam:

Must be appropriate (no nudity or vulgar actions over the cams what-so-ever).

Do ones best to ensure the entire field can be covered by the cam, including deck and grave.

Please, no cheating.

Rules for "Trust" game:

Please, No Cheating, winning and losing are both part of the game, no need to cheat.

I suggest you pop up gatherer (on MTG's site) for individual card rulings, and to have pen and paper ready to keep track of the field, grave, ect. This is not required, but it will reduce arguing on both sides. EVERYTHING MUST BE TOLD TO OPPONENT!!! If your creature goes to grave for any reason, SAY IT.

End each action with a "?", then wait for you opponent to say either "hold" or "it's good". Hold means to stop, they will be reacting, it's good means the action occurs normally.

--------------------------

If there is too many complaints of either cheating or even one complaint of nudity or vulgar actions over the webcam, this whole forum will be dropped.

We can succeed in having the best gaming community for MTG on Gaia, we just need your support in doing so.

All these methods sound bad considering that there has been a 'free' mtg deckplayer for over 10 years.

Apprentice was good enough in the early days. Can't handle big decks.

Magic Workstation is basically MTGO lite.

Edit: Haven't heard much good about Cockatrice. But will download for play with you guys.

A recent announcement has informed others of Cockatrice, so that's what more of us have been downloading lately.

But thanks for updating this for us. 3nodding

I tried working with Magic Workstation and it hardly worked for me. No matter how many times I've tried to reinstall it and such. And I've even had my husband reinstall and work with it and it still didn't work. So I just don't even bother with Magic Workstation.
Cockatrice has its moments sometimes disconnect in the middle of a game or something, but even if you log back on, it lets you get back to the game like nothing ever happened.

Sounds like you forgot to get the mtg database. Does not come naturally with MtG installed. Designed to be adaptable to multiple card games.

I've never heard of anyone having problems installing it, otherwise. Whats really good about Magic Workstation is that it works on older computers. Cockatrice wouldn't work on my old comp.

after working with Magic workstation for like 4 months. I just stopped trying, and i also don't play multiple cards games so its not that big of issue for me. As for how old my computer is... not that old. so probably why cockatrice works well with me.
