(SPOILER ALERT!!(that you should have seen coming.))
"A kings time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day Simba, the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king."
Out of all the animated films made by Disney, I can't think of one that is more amazing than 'The Lion King'. To this day it remains the highest-grossing animated movie of all time.
'The Lion King' is the story of a lion cub named Simba who is destined to take over as king of a place called Pride Rock after his father Mufasa. However another lion named Scar, who is Simba's uncle plots to take over as king before Simba gets the chance. He does so by killing Mufasa and convincing Simba that it was his fault. As Simba runs away from Pride Rock to never return, Scar assumes the throne. As Simba grows, up he learns of how Scar has brought misfortune and darkness to his old home. And after a visit from the ghost of Mufasa, Simba goes back to Pride Rock to challenge Scar and reclaim his rightful place as king.
The story is pretty much a re-telling of Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' while also borrowing elements from the Bible storys of Moses and Joseph, But, they apply their own unique twists and differences that set it apart.
All the characters are great, as well as being amazingly voiced by some good actors, such as James Earl Jones, Jeremy Irons, Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, Cheech Marin & Whoopi Goldberg (Just to name a few).
The animation is just beautiful. From the opening sequence it immediatly grabs your eyes and never lets go, it's that spectacular. And what else can I say about the songs and the music other than, they're memorable and very well done.
For me, this movie has always been like my very own Rocky Horror Show; I know all the lines, the songs, I say the words with the characters, you get the idea. But thats what happens when your a kid and you watch the same movie over and over with your cousins.
This movie stuck with me as a kid, and even in my 20's I still find this film to be very enjoyable and always a privilage to watch. And I doubt that will ever change. The Lion King is a timeless classic that can hold up just as well with kids as it can for adults.
Final Rating: 10/10
