You've all heard the stories. Everyone has. The tales of the Zodiac are greatly known. But did you know....
They're real.
Yeah I had the same reaction you did. That was until I met Leo and Taurus. I was just a normal boy walking along the tour of the Zoo and then BAM this Lion... like three times the size of any lion I have ever seen, steps up to the enclosures bars and waves me over. He starts spouting some nonsense about the Locust are coming and how they, the Zodiac, needed to find their avatars to fight them off.
Well I know what I did then, I did what anyone else would do. I ran screaming like a little girl! Screaming about a talking lion and how it was huge. The park security suggested psychiatric help. I thought I needed it too.
Two days later i was at my aunts farm in the country when the stud Bull walks up to me and asks about Leo and had I said yes to helping! Am I nuts? I backed away slowly and said I would think it over. The bull pleaded with me to think fast. The Locust would be here soon.
So here I am... two years later. The Locust had arrived. Giant alien looking insect beings that started to devour all of our resources. All of our water is gone, our crops, most of our major cities are gone. But we survive some how.
Look, I don't expect you to believe me. I wouldn't believe me either. But this is my last chance. I found Leo... he accepted me as his Avatar. Taurus found an avatar too. Her name is Joan. We're looking for the rest of you. Aries, Gemini, Cancer, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Aquarius, Capricorn, Pisces, Sagittarius.
We're waiting. We need your help. We'll be waiting for you at the old Jeffersonian. It's still there, barely. Just look for the Zodiac.
Static cuts the image short, but you know you saw what you saw. A sixteen year old boy pleading for help. It was impossible. The Locust had disabled the satellites and torn down all the T.V. stations. The tv's should not have even been able to turn on. Electricity was only run by generators now, and the thought of using it for tv was foolish. Radio's broadcast news but rarely.
The Locust had devoured everything. But this was a message that seemed to just be just for you. The Zodiac... was it even possible. The boy didn't even give his name. Could this possibly help the world.... the second question was... how are you going to get to the Jeffersonian?

Attention everyone playing this game: This is a Post apocalyptic game. You character has been surviving the last two years. Be it with friends or alone or with family. This game takes place in the U.S. so if your character is not American you need to explain how they got there. Flight is out of the question, and Most, not all, modes of transportation are gone.
Also, your character is a kid. If they have ANY fighting ability it will need to be EXPLAINED thoroughly. You are human. Weapons of ANY kind are scavenged weapons not keepsakes. The use of these weapons is also limited by your characters young age.
On a side note. Your character WILL be given abilities by the Zodiac. The abilities are determined by myself and what each Zodiac stands for. Keep that in mind.
Thank you -Cole
P.S. game will be starting soon. Life is in the way at the moment.

Leo!! Leo!!! stop hiding! You said that we were supposed to have company soon. What did you mean?
A Young girl walked down the halls of the Jeffersonian. Absently running her hands over the artifacts and old junk that was now useless. Joan had been wandering these halls for the last few months while Leo searched for something, something she wasn't able to know. Taurus was and has been silent since she accepted his Avatarhood. Nothing had been happening besides the Locust over running everything in sight.
LEO!!!!!!! Joan's voice echoed.
Yeah! Down here!
Leo's voice called from a set of stairs. The young boy was standing in front of a safe decorated in a language he couldn't even comprehend.
This.... This just got here. I've been down this hallway a hundred times and this safe just... appeared here. Look at the language... the symbols. It's the Zodiac... Joan... something is coming I just know it.

A curious young girl in long search finally approached the Jeffersonian. She walked up to the faded white & brick building. It was still a magnifacent sight... hard to believe it was so much in tact. She slowly opened the front door, causing a long creaking noise. The newcomer cringed, but continued inside. There was a gasp. The vaulted ceilings and extravagant staircases were remarkable. The architecture stalled her movement as she looked around in amazement. What Now? She thought.

The sun hung overhead, blasting any shadows away. Vincent had worried about this among other things. He'd tried to plan out his journey so that he'd reach D.C. near dusk so that there would be plenty of shadows to hide in. Once he got on the road though he'd gone into autopilot. So now his bike was hidden in an alley near the Jeffersonian with a tarp over it and he was doing his best to look like he wasn't moving when he actually was.
Moving slowly and using everything that could be considered cover he made his way towards the side of the building; god only knew what could be waiting in the main entrance. The windows had been destroyed long ago; whether by looters or locust he couldn't say, but it made getting in easy. He carefully swept aside broken glass with rock and went in. After a few minutes of wandering around he heard a voice and he almost broke down right then. It had been months since he'd seen anyone that hadn't stared back at him with lifeless eyes. Nearly abandoning his old caution he started towards the voice saying something about something appearing.

Luckily, with very little incident, Terry had managed to make his way within sight of the old Jeffersonian. He was worn out, tired, and ready to finish this one leg of the race... and without a pause he quickened his pace toward the building. Now what's this about... he asked quietly, and a little out of breath, as he approached the open door. He stepped inside, gripping his hammer as he did so, only to find that he was in the presence of a girl standing dumbfounded in the middle of the room. Well ain't this a pretty sight? he said breathlessly as he stepped up to the girl. What's someone like you doing here? he asked the girl as he dropped the sledge hammer head softly on the wooden floors and leaned on the propped up handle. By the sound of his voice, it was almost obvious that the boy needed some sleep, in fact... he could have almost nodded off right then.

*Joan screamed as she heard the glass break. She huddled behind Leo looking toward the sound.*
Leo stood up, he quickly grabbed what ever he could find and then held it up like it was a deadly weapon. He didn't realize he had grabbed a fake mummy case that had been scattered there from the gift shop.
Who's there! If you're human show yourself. If your a Locust I have a gun!

"I'm human! I'm human!" Vincent shouted a tad louder than necessary. The thought of making it here only to be shot by an ally was not a good one. Vincent stepped into view, his hands still raised in the air. It was only then that he saw what the 'gun' actually was and he dropped his arms. "Umm...you did send a message about this place didn't you?" Vincent asked, the worry in his voice obvious. It'd be strange if the message was a hallucination, and even stranger than if it had been right. It was one explanation that would explain the hostile greeting though.

Lotus jumped at the sound of a voice near her, causing great surprise. She stared at him for a few seconds blinking in disbelief.
"I uh... the water fountain told me to... are you real?"
She poked at his bicep a few times to be sure.
"Huh... interesting. You feel real. Oh I'm sorry, how rude of me. I'm Lotus. So....what are you doing here? Are you here because of the..."
She looked around with paranoia and whispered close to Terry's ear.
"Locust?"

"Very much so real, thank you..." he began with a wide yawn. "Name's Terry... I'm here cuz' of a talking ram. Which ain't crazier than a talking fountain..." he glanced about the main hall that they stood in and visibly chose a direction. "I'm gonna find a place to crash." he mumbled as he began to step forward. It was then that he heard the yelling of yet another somewhere inside. He motioned Lotus to follow as he annoyingly shouldered his hammer and followed the sound.

Leo looked around and saw the other two teens. He smiled and dropped his impromptu weapon. Oh thank the Zodiac... humans. I thought for sure the Locust had found us. He stepped back and revealed the safe door that had the symbols on it. I've been waiting for some sign that i wasn't crazy... talking lions and Bulls, Rams... statues... everything. It's here, the Zodiac is in here... we need to find a way in.

Lotus looked at everyone standing there... not all the signs were present.
"Do we need all the signs of the Zodiac? If so, how do we get this door open without the others? Hmm... do we need a key or something?"
Lotus stood back from the group and tried to see the big picture. Hoping she'd figure it out...

Terry cast one sleepy look from Leo to Lotus to Vincent and back. Then dropped his hammer, leaned on the handle and rubbed his eyes. "Could someone here talk sense? I know I'm not awake enough for this, but seriously. Who are you, what is that" he gestured toward the safe "and is there anyone else invited to this party that we should be aware of?"

Vincent was about as confused Terrel, but everything that had happened was so far from his old reality that something like needing a safe open didn't really surprise him. After Lotus and Terry had said their piece he decided to add his two sense, "Yeah, there probably should be twelve of us if I'm thinking of the right zodiac. But if we can't wait why can't we just take a hammer to it? Sledges are made for breaking and machines start to break after enough time." That being said, his idea would be useless if the safe didn't have a mechanism or if it was new.
