Yessss.
Winterguard.
I was just wondering if there was anybody here who is a member of one, and since it could be concidered a preforming art, I guess it fits right in, lol.
If you are in a guard, which one? What's your show? What's your fave piece of equipment?
Lets DISCUSSSSSSS.
I'm a member of Milford HS's varsity guard and we're doing a show called Jar of Hearts. If I could show you a video, I would, but my coach is very ... strict... about putting our videos on the interweb. We'll be preforming at a WGI regional this coming weekend, so a video will be up on their sight, but I HATE weapon while I'm spinning it, but I like flag and LOVE dance biggrin
If you don't know what it is :
Winterguard isa type of preforming art where people spin rifles flags and sabres and dance. All this is done to music and there's usually somesort of floor/tarp that the unit puts down to help set the mood.
This is a competative thing, and the competitions are usually held in high school/ college gymnasiums or convetion centers.
WGI = Winterguard International. In order to compete in this, you have to be at least class Scholastic A3. The classes go from there to Scholastic Open, to Open, to Scholastic Word, and then, finally, World.
My guard is currently a scholastic A3 guard, but that doesn't meant we're 'bad'. In fact, we're actually really very good. We end up being in the top thirty in the nation, and as of last week, we were the thrid in our class. There's different requirements for funding in different classes and such, and the further up you go, the more time you spend practicing because the more changes the jusdges REQUIRE you make to you show. and by time practicing, I mean practices that last an entire weekend, one session being from 9am to 2:00 am the next day.
