jk rowling is my fav authour, too. i think anyone who can write thick books like she does should be apraised. and it's not just one book. it's like seven!!! and turning her art into a movie just makes everything better. and to think she used to be homeless and lived in a car. her whole story is life changing.

Well I have a few authors that I like very much, but I think that E.E. Knight is my all time favorite with his novel series The Age of Fire.
Next to him I like, of course, J.K. Rowling, Jeanna DuPrau (The City of Ember), Peter S. Beagle (The Last Unicorn), and Richard Adams (Watership Down).

All of them are fantastic writers and I they all definitely have impacted me in different ways into my wishing to be an author. :3
I simply love fantasy and they all provide me with that fantasy I crave-- that escape to another world.

Favourite Author (Of this Generation): Iris Johansen
Why: There's nothing like a good, action-packed, murder/mystery story with a little bit of romance & lots of character development.
Impact on my life: Iris Johansen's The Search was the first serious book I ever really read, & her stories were so intense... they captivated me in a way that most writers of this age fail to do. (I'm typically a reader of excessively old works...) I read page after page, entranced by her stories, & bought book after book wanting to delve into more of her characters. Her words inspired me not only to read more mature writing, but to write myself. I partly blame her for my growing library of books... but lets face it. I've always have been a bit of a bibliophile.

Favourite Author (Of Old Generation): Dante Alighieri
Why: His poetry is beautiful, thick in the language of his time & full of emotions that may have condemned him to a fate most tragic.
Impact on my life: The first thing I read of Dante's would have been Inferno, the first of three epics in the series The Divine Comedy. The stories are written completely in poetic form & the language is thick with an ancient tongue to the point when most people these days wouldn't touch it unless they were trying to major in History of Writing. But aside from his writing, history shows us that Dante lived a very brutal, if not interesting life. During his life time, the Church was struggling for power of the people as they started to abandon religion which had failed to protect them from several disasters including, but not limited to, Black Death, the nearly endless Crusades, decades of internal strive as the Dark Ages became Renaissance. He had seen many evils, but he had also seen love... A love which he could never obtain from a woman he calls only by the name Beatrice in his poems. He loved her so deeply that he depicted her as an angel in several of his writings & she was included among the stories that make up the Divine Comedy - the poems he is most known for. Most people however, don't know that because of the things he suggested in the Divine Comedy, Dante was ex-communicated from the Church & castrated for his seemingly outrageous claims. (That hell was a place of repentance, that God would show a mortal man - namely Dante, who was not considered or praised Holy - the workings of an after life, among several other things the Church disagreed with.) Still, even after being thrown from the light of the Church & widely persecuted for his writings, that failed to be captivating to anyone of his time, Dante never ceased writing. In fact, he continued to write up until the day he died. Dante Alighieri taught me that writing is only beautiful if you're willing to sacrifice everything for it, your love, & your beliefs.

Fav Author: Edger Allen Poe
Why: I think he captures the views of an insane man, and gruesome stories keep you guessing.
Impact on my life: Well im not sure if it had a great impact on my life. But his vocabulary certainly improved mine. Since he used more advanced and elegant words that usually made me/makes me look them up and record them.

Anne Rice,and Stephen King.

Why:Anne Rice has been my favorite for quite a few years now.I love the way she describes things and brings such personality to her characters.I've also wanted to read Stephen King books for a while and just recently received "Pet Semetary" and "Misery" from my brother for Christmas.I started with the former.I like the way he describes things and characters, too.I also think it's interesting that he always has a small part in the movies based on his books.
