And another sort of tester of an idea sweatdrop As always, enjoy - and do feel free to comment! 3nodding I like comments... yes... yes I do... lol

Shadow

You're relying on a shadow, to tell you the truth

You're relying on a shadow, to tell you the truth.
She can shine you no light, for fear she'll disappear,
Yet she cannot keep you in the dark, for fear she'll be destroyed.

So what is the purpose of asking the shadow?

What is the purpose, of asking a shadow?
The answer I believe, is painfully clear,
You ask a shadow for the truth, because...

A shadow goes unnoticed, yet notices all

A shadow remains unnoticed, yet notices all.
She may confuse you, speak in riddles,
For she knows no other way, except.

To not say a word at all

To not speak a word, at all.
So answer me this, my dear,
What does a shadow have, if she cannot have words?

I must say that I like the poem, but I didn't like the italicized parts. They broke up the flow and confused me at first. And I tripped entering the last stanza. The first line seems to come and end of itself, as if it were just filling in for something, but really doesn't have a place there except to cut-off the thoughts of the line before and after it. In fact, the poem felt better with it dropped. My opinion, though. It's a great poem regardless, and has made me give it's words deep consideration. I've glanced up at all the shadows around me at least twice since I've read it, which I think is cool (She is everywhere in here!). But it can be taken differently too, which is even better to me--a different take on the invisible girl (the shy one crowding the shadows, being there but rarely noticed or considered...). I love double meanings. Thanks for posting this one! whee
